celebrated a family birthday at no. 12 and had a great evening. the food was very good and the service excellent. the restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night. would definitely return.

"I always receive a warm welcome at this restaurant. The staff is friendly and personal, and my friend loves to bring his dog along, which is never a problem—there are even dog treats available! The meals are consistently good, especially the daily specials. The only downside is that there can occasionally be an unusual odor, which I suspect might come from a blocked sink or something similar, but this is quite rare. Additionally, there are beautiful walks nearby to enjoy after your meal."

"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."

"My wife and I went here in the evening expecting a restaurant full of diners. Sadly we were one of only 4 tables being used which really flattened the experience. Music was very quiet and there was virtually no atmosphere. Our food came out far too quickly and, whilst I appreciate the kitchen was quiet, we could easily have been done in an hour which wasn’t what we were looking for. We have a young family so nights out are a rarity. Food was pretty good, service from floor staff was great but overall a disappointing evening. To be fair, we may have just encountered an unusual evening but I get the sense that the best nights here are when they have live music. This is one a month."

"I have been shopping at the Chalet Bakery for years and have used their cafe lot of times. The bread is outstanding! It is proper bread without the nasty bits that supermarkets put in. It keeps its shape and tastes of bread. The sausage rolls...are some of the best around, as are the pasties (Cornish is a family favourite). Their pastries are delicious too, especially the doughnuts and raisin loaves. During lockdown they have provided a fantastic service, in addition to keeping their staff safe. I cannot praise them enough. Great service too, always smiling and happy to help. Well done and Thank you for being there for us during these strange time."

"Popped in for dinner on Friday night. My husband had lovely plump mussels and then a HUGE Calzone, both of which he really enjoyed. My daughter had prawns and a truly delicious pizza (I sneaked a piece, yum). I had Crayfish and then lamb leg. It was all super and at a lovely relaxed pace."
