"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."

I visited today with my brother and we had a lovely brunch. The service was friendly and fast. The food arrived promptly. I can highly recommend the Eggs Benedict with spinach. And the Americano coffee was lovely. Lovely experience

Galu never disappoints. Amazing food cook in plain sight, a great menu catering for all tastes, friendly staff. We love this local family restaurant and on Tuesday it’s steak night and that gives you delicious steaks at half price. We love it

We visited as a large group of 12 people for our Christmas get together. From the minute we walked in, everyone was attentive to our requirements and couldn’t do enough for us. Great service from the team and the food was simply outstanding,….the steaks!!!! We will be booking again for 2024 if this is the standard! We had the best time, nothing was to much trouble and everyone throughly enjoyed the whole evening. The girls had super impressive mocktails at the bar then a fabulous set menu. Great value for money and a real family fun atmosphere. The staff were super efficient and friendly What a brilliant ideal location for a party Definitely a 5 star review from us and all of our guests X

Just really disgusted with Galu 8th Nov.. I ordered steak and chips, only got the steak, the chips belatedly...I complained and wasn 't charged. Great? No. Not great. Spontaneous visit with my wife, I ordered a ribeye steak, chips billed as coming with tomatoes and rocket. Steak arrived, no chips...surly waiter telling me 'the chips are coming '....no rocket, no tomatoes. Steak was barely warm, so I started to eat it...half gone, said surly waiter brings chips over (salad never arrived and I complained....steak and chips should come with chips at the same time...place was half empty, not like they were busy..zero empathy, zero apology....just simply 'ok so what do you want me to do then...yo...
