I enjoyed a delicious Japanese meal for lunch in Brixton Village. My colleague and I were impressed by the food, service, and affordable prices. If I lived in Brixton, this restaurant would definitely be a favorite spot of mine.

If you're happy to share table and loves okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake/omelette), give this place a try. I tried the okan okonomiyaki accompanied by green tea which was very tasty. My friend tried the pork with kimchi which is even better I think!

okan was one of the first brixton village foods – no frills, charming and served original food that it transported meiles from the lively streets of brixton. I'll give him an evaluation of 8/10. a very happy – though late – pancake day for all of you.

I opted for Kimchee and Pork 7.95) which was fine but not spectacularly brilliant. The pancake itself was not round and rough around the edge; the cabbage was slightly wet; the sauce, which is usually the key of a great okonomiyaki yakisoba, was loose and could have done with more zing and sweetness.

A rarer street food is served at Okan, big hearty pancakes from Osaka called Okonomiyaki. Hefty, hearty giant rosti cakes, made with a cabbage and noodle base held together with a sloppy batter, served with a variety of umami rich toppings and fillings. They taste better than they sound and the theatre of them being prepared on their sizzling short order grill is both evocative and famishing...

every time I came by this place, it was full, so I was excited to find a table. they make in first line two things: okonomiyaki (a Japanese pancake street eating with different fillings) or noodle, again with a lot of ingredients the great to okonomiyaki is that they can choose what to put in it, and this customizable element is what this restaurant loves. I went for her special, which is based on seafood and I loved it, but they can get around and make it as they like it, I think that the pancake is better than the noodles so that and then a starter. Okan is one of the few places in London that you can eat Okonomiyaki. Most websites will tell you this is a kind of Japanese pancake. **** I say if you tried tossing one of these you'd be finding cabbage around your kitchen for weeks. It has a lot more in common with a hash. It's hotchpotch of vegetables and noodles, seasoned, spiced and fried together, bound by one lonely egg. So far, so simple. But it's the toppings (or boppings, seeing as they are on the bottom). I ordered the Okan Special, which is bopped with prawns, squid and delicious kimchi, a tangy mess of fermented vegetables that really sang out next to the fried veg. Okan is a tiny restaurant in Brixton Village. Quiet during lunch time and buzzing in the evening. It's probably my favourite Okonomiyaki place in London, but then again, I only know two. Okonomiyaki is a Japanese dish that could be called Japanese pizza or Japanese pancake, because it's a dish made out of batter and filled with cabbage, different meats or seafood and topped with Okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise. Totally recommended! I've been to Abeno before, but that was way too expensive and I only went when my dad was here. But at Okan , my friend and me were able to have such a filling and yummy meal for around £5-7. I mean, they don't have those awesome table grills, but who cares?...re...
