"We are a casual group (in this instance 11 of us of not so young males looking for a comfortable venue to meet up for good!!! conversation over a pint and lunch. And this just what you get from the Old Royal Ship plus some friendly staff and chefs who know how to produce good pub food. We preordered our meals and on arrival were served with drinks that we took to our prepared table. 4 tables together forming a square that allowed us all to speak and hear one another quite well (hearing aids adjusted as appropriate!! We deliberately arranged to be at our table ahead of the time that lunch had been ordered, catchup chat time! So our meals were delivered precisely when expected....how chefs manage that is beyond me!! The hubbub of chatter was replaced by the clatter of cutlery on crockery . My vegetable lasagna, salad and garlic bread was very tasty!!"

I stopped in twice while visiting our son, and I must say the food was excellent. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place for a meal.

Food was lovely and a wide choice of options but we waited over an hour for our meal. As we had a train to catch we didn’t sample deserts. Would recommend for the food wholeheartedly.

My first visit to this restaurant was excellent. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The menu had a wide variety of options, and the specials board was extensive. The portions were generous and delicious, with many homemade choices. I highly recommend dining here.

Mistakes happen and a true test of service is how they're dealt with. Unusually, I had to send back overcooked food. The always-friendly staff apologised, the dish was replaced, nicely presented, and a couple of drinks were deducted from the bill. That's how it's done. And this remains my favourite local restaurant.

We found the Old Royal Ship Inn on Tripadvisor and found the reviews, although excellent, underestimated the outstanding meal that my wife and I had there this evening. The food was fresh, delicious and of highest quality and decent quantities! The service was friendly and professional and we were made very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we shall certainly return to try some of the other dishes (which we saw being delivered to other tables! .

We chose the Royal Ship Inn as we were staying in a hotel nearby and the reviews were positive. We were not disappointed, even though we made no reservation, the lovely waitress found us a table. The food was delicious, we both had something off the special board, there was a bit of a wait as they were busy, but the waitress who served was very attentive. The Inn itself has a nice cosy vibe. All the staff were friendly and welcoming, if we are the area we will definitely be returning.

Food was outstanding, well worth the money... went for my Mum's Birthday she really liked it... nothing pretentious about the place or the people... dog friendly as well as they have seated area for dog lovers inside so your pouch can dine with you without upsetting anyone. A good range of drinks.. I did knock one star off but only due to wait time at start but as it was Easter w/e it was busy.. My sister who lives locally said they will definitely be back as I will when we're back up to visit

My sister and I met our mum at this restaurant, which was a convenient halfway point for us. I enjoyed the ambiance and the friendly staff, but unfortunately, the food was not up to par. I ordered the tuna and red onion mayo sandwich with chips, but the bread was stale and the chips were unremarkable. My sister had a burger and fries, which she found to be underwhelming. Our mum opted for the salmon and prawns starter, which looked appetizing but I can't speak to the taste. I may consider returning to this restaurant if we need to meet halfway again, but I would definitely choose more wisely next time.

4 Mothers, 2 Grandmothers and a Great grandmother made up our 'Mothers Day ' lunch so it was quite a crowd with partners and children of a range of ages. The Old Royal Ship is popular so on this special occasion it was not surprising that it was busy. But did this phase the hard working staff? Not a bit they were excellent...as was the food. Sunday lunch is an established favourite of this family. 2 of us went 'off piste ' to the specials board on this occasion and were not disappointed. Baked vegetables tart...delicious!! Watching Great Grandchildren completely consume chocolate cheesecake and ice cream after 'Sunday lunch ' was amazing. Of course we will be back again. No brainer!! (just t...

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."

"We had a tremendously good lunch here today-the food was quite delicious, the staff were very friendly and helpful-I’d say it’s probably one of the best lunches I’ve had in quite some time….so to give you a clue we both had the pork-this sounded really lovely and we were not disappointed-pork belly, tenderloin,a faggot and a ham hock croquet with mashed potato and roasted cauliflower with a delicious jus and a slice of pickled apple( which I ate immediately with a piece of pork and when the waiter came to ask how our lunch was I asked if he could possibly get me another piece-which he did For dessert we shared the passion fruit crème brûlée which came with a passion fruit sorbet and some chocolate soil…..the focaccia we had at the start of the meal was superb and the coffee was also excellent -we do enjoy both cooking and eating-one of life’s pleasures and it’s abundantly clear the chef absolutely loves food too-a great display of cooking books from the greats sort of got me thinking it would be a good lunch…….also worth noting the drinks menu-some lovely wines, soft drinks and cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic. I finished off with a mocha which was hot chocolatey but not too sweet. Bradford on Avon is most definitely worth a visit and I’d say you would be foolish to miss out on a great experience if you didn’t also pop in to the bunch of grapes for some sustenance while there… Thanks for lunch and as Arnie says “ we’ll be back”….."
