"We have to be honest we went to The Oruna because we’d been lazy and not booked our usual Indian restaurant and we ended up not being able to get a table. However, we found a warm welcome and a table at The Oruna. The service was great; very attentive and polite but not hovering over the table. We decided we couldn’t manage a starter so we just shared popadoms and onion bhajis. These were both cooked fresh and not precooked. Our main courses came out after we’d been asked if we were ready for them. This was a nice change we weren’t rushed. Everything was piping hot. The chap that brought them warned us about the red hot plates and dishes. Both of our meals were delicious. We had nothing to moan about. From entering The Oruna to leaving the service was great. Everything we ordered was spot on. We were talking about our meal later and couldn’t understand why we’d not been to The Oruna for such a long time. This is a bad habit that we’re going to have to get out of…."

A fabulous family run restaurant. Food was delicious and very reasonably priced, especially a Thursday night when they have a special offer. Thoroughly recommended Visualizza piatti

This is by far one of the best Indian restaurants and takeaway. You are always guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome. The service is always A1 and they will always help in anyway to meet your needs. A must try if you are a local or just visiting the area

I have been eating in at Oruna and having odd takeaways for nearly 15 years. Service is always attentive and on time. The Thursday and Sunday special offer is our families favourite deal. Oh and a free cheeky drink if they are really busy awaiting a takeaway that comes before finishing! Polite, professional and authentic 'special ' dishes I choose.

I have to say that this restaurant is at the top of their game! Everything from service to delivery was absolutely fantastic! I have now had 3 takeaways/delivery from here- if you have never been, you absolutely must try it! You wint be disappointed as its absolutely the best food and service in all my years of ordering, I wouldn't go anywhere else as its that good! I'd give 10 stars if I could ! Been visiting here since they opened many moons ago. Always great service with lovely fresh food. The Sunday Thursday £16 deal is still ongoing and great value for drink poppadom starter main and side. Recommend to family friends. Plenty of fish and vegetarian options. My go to is the tandoori salmon which is very tasty without being spicy. I love the mint sauce and they always provide plenty. Been for charity events too where they are always generous very kind owners.

Been a loyal customer for 10 years (eating in and delivery service) we had a meal delivered and the chicken was not cooked so all our dishes were inedible, we co planned and got a refund to which the manager did not like and we thought we will give them another try to see if they have improved on quality. We ordered online and received a phonecall saying that they will not honour out order and therefore will not be delivering food to our address. I'm sorry when did this become a choice that you can turn down money from a paying customer. Word to the wise Oruna, do better then you won't have an issue with former loyal customers.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
