"Paprika is opposite where the old Springfield Hotel used to be (soon to be a new care home) and is easy to miss. But I beg you not to miss Paprika. Forget about those nearby restaurants living off past glories, Paprika is NOW. It is clean, it cares, it's damn good. We had the banquet for 2 with starters of onion baji and chicken tikka kebab, followed by bhuna and tikka masala with rice, poppadums, naan. Flavoursome, REAL chicken- not preformed pieces that some others use and it was all wonderful at a good price. Desserts were sorbets, ice cream and those syrupy sponges. We went for a sorbet, which was light and refreshing and coconut ice cream which was very coconuttty! A bottle of wine comes in at around £12 which is none too bad for restaurant prices; carafes were also available more cheaply. Service was excellent:attentive and polite without being overly formal. A fabulous, well hidden little gem!"

This is one of the best family-owned restaurants I have been to. The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. If you are in the Lowfell area and have not yet tried it out, you definitely should - they deserve all the praise.

I have now been to this small restaurant many times whilst visiting the area in Gateshead. The food is absolutely fantastic with generous portions and very reasonable prices. The decor of the restaurant is a little dated but clean and the service very good and friendly. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everybody. Visualizza piatti

Having lived in the Saltwell Park area back in 2009 we discovered Paprika and now it is still our number 1 Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant! We now live at Kingston Park in Newcastle and would still travel over the river to eat here or get a takeaway! The service is second to none and both owners take great pride in getting to know their customers which just makes visiting here a pleasure! Have tried several dishes on the menu and they have all been 5 star! Highly recommended!!

Tonight I ordered from Paprika for the first time after reading their reviews. The food was that good I have to leave my own. When placing my order it was simple, easy and quick, the food arrived 20 minutes later and at £11.50, including delivery, for a chicken pakora starter, chicken madras, egg fried rice, keema nan, onion salad and a poppadom I thought this was a bargain. I couldn't believe my eyes when eating the food how fresh and tasty it all was. I will definitely be using Paprika again and cant recommend them enough.

"The place seems unprofessionally run. The staff all look like they could do with a bath. No overalls are worn and their clothes are all of the type that many would wear to lounge around the house in . Several have longer hair and beards but don’t wear any kitchen p.p.e. The decor is shabby and I wondered what kind of hygiene rating they would have. Although not busy, the staff seemed to be disorganised, falling over eachother and lacking in training. They seemed to handle the food in an inexperienced, clumsy fashion. The only tool I saw being used was a pizza peel for taking the pizza in and out of the oven. On all other occasions the food was handled. I didn’t notice any hand washing or alcohol gel in evidence. The menu is quite limited and uninspiring. 2 of the 6 pizza choices include chicken which Italians would argue is definite no no! All pizzas are reheated to order which eliminates the possibility of customisation. I don’t believe the restaurant would stand out in many European countries, as pizza in general is of a much higher standard than that in the UK. In spite of the above, The basic pizza is excellent in taste (even though it is all re-heated). And for this reason it is worth a visit. Compared to other uk pizza restaurants which are typically serving absolute garbage, the food is way out in front. If you can tolerate the negatives I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the pizza. However with a bit of effort, this place could be transformed into something truly amazing."
