We stopped at Pastel for lunch prior to visit the CAPC which is 5 minutes from there. The place is really good : nice welcome, a short menu with fresh and local suggestions, affordable price for the quality, ... Pastel is definitely a place I recommend and I would love to visit again.

After walking at Quai des Chartrons on a sunny Sunday morning we tried to find an Italian restaurant recommended by TripAdvisor. Just to find out it was closed. Pastel was only the nearest second option, but it turned out to be a nice surprise. Small and cozy as any French bistro, the food was tasty and the wine was good. A Nice surprise to refuel our bodies and to prepare us to visit Cité du Vin, which is not far.

This place was recommended to us by Anne, the waitress, whom we had met a few days earlier in another restaurant. The food is simply divine, the ingredients have been chosen carefully and grown organically. You can eat for €15 or €17 for 2 or 3 dishes for lunch (without drinks). The reason is that there is only a choice of 2 or 3 dishes per course. It is situated in the Chartrons area of Bordeaux and would be ideal on your way from or to the Musée du vin!Merci encore Anne pour votre recommandation et votre accueil! beautiful late lunch in pastel after the walk through the nearby contemporary art museum. the menu is simple but an excellent choice of two appetizers (on our visit, a delicious soup with lardons or a beet salad with fresh ricotta/cot cheese), and three entrees: a fresh white fish with cured cauliflower and carrots, or a filet of calves and salbe with sublimely bee. pick up a starter and get away for 16€ or add dessert and get 3 courses for 19€. everything was delicious and perfectly prepared. service was friendly and up to earth. my companion and I were perfectly enchanted by this place and can only recommend it very much.

We were recommended Pastel by our receptionist (l'hotel particuleur) after we asked her to find us a restaurant that was vegetarian friendly (a hard task in France!) but also had a great choice for the non veggies. And this is it! Our friend , who is the vegetarian , was so pleased to have a choice other than raw veg! When we arrived the waiter had translated the menu for us into English (although no need) which was very kind . The menu is a choice of 4 at each course ...all excellent . Wine was also a limited choice but excellent quality and value for money. It's not a huge restaurant so booking is advised , especially at lunchtime. Relying on reviews of restaurants on Trip Advisor coupled with which restaurants had reservations available last minute on a Saturday night, we were fortunate enough to get a table here. The place is small with a welcoming ambiance and friendly staff. The kitchen area is open to the dining room and it was nice to see how well the kitchen staff worked together on a busy Saturday night. The menu was only in French but the staff was easily able to translate everything for us. I really liked that some dishes were offered in both a half and full portion.
