"We went to the Ratskeller for a family occasion with a party of six. The restaurant has a nice decoration and very traditional inside. Despite the reservation, there was not enough space to sit everyone on proper chairs. One person had to be seated on...kind of a sofa making her sit on a lower height compared to everybody else. However, the service was attentive and very helpful/friendly operating within these restrictions. All of us decided to order something from the specialties menu (a dedicated page in the menu). We assumed it would list dishes that are typical to the region and given that most of them started with Rat as the restaurant's name, we assumed that they would be good in preparing them. I went for their Ratsschüssel (probably council bowl would be a translation). It was actually a bowl. It was filled with a special type of pasta "Spätzle turkey breast, hollandaise sauce and cheese. The whole thing is then baked in the oven. Sadly, the Spätzle felt like frozen and the spices/herbs that you would expect from the local cuisine were absent. This dish was turned into a quite greasy bowl. However, I understand that everybody else was significantly more happy with their dishes. In particular, I got to taste some of the pork. This was actually nicely seasoned and well prepared. Remarkably, all dishes involved more or less hollandaise sauce and an additional bowl of hollandaise was served on a dedicated stove. I have never seen this before but it was quite unlucky as the hollandaise developed a skin and started to make a less and less happy impression. The service remained nice and attentive throughout the meal. In sum, the staff was helpful and the place has some atmosphere. However, my dish was not up to the proudly cherished tradition. But as mentioned, there are better choices on the menu."

"I'm thrilled. My last meal in the Sparta has been at least 10 years ago and since then a lot has been done. At first I would like to thank you for the very good and accommodating service. Reception at the entrance, acceptance of the order, regular requests “whether we still have wishes” up to billing everything top. The modern style ensures a quiet and relaxed ambience that invites you to forget the time. Theme food clearly a 12/10. Here a very good taste meets good portion sizes. Price performance ratio perfect. I personally look forward to the next visit."

"Alles voll trotzdem noch einen Platz bekommen. Die Chefin und Annika geben alles und das zeichnet das Ambiente mit Aus. Wobei schon der Teilüberdachte Biergarten sehr positiv rüberkommt. Gerade wenn es sehr warm ist und es vorher noch geregnet hat. Das Essen, tja was soll ich sagen... Sehr sehr LECKER Bratkartoffeln und Sülze dazu ein Rotbier. Preislich ein Niveau da kann selbst der Geizigste nicht meckern. Kulisse ist ein Tipp für all die, die nach Altenburg kommen, die hier wohnen und all die, die auf der Suche nach echter Gastfreundlichkeit sind. Hier wird es gekonnt gezeigt, gelebt."

"Going to the place was just the right thing. The waiters are very nice and you will be very well advised. The appetizer white bean soup) was simply heavenly and is recommended. The main dish the fish plate) is a dream, but here you should not underestimate - this is very big. You don't need an appetizer to create them. The taste of the dishes is spicy, which I find very tasty again. It is very well matched by taste. The ambience is beautifully decorated and fits perfectly. The prices are very affordable so you can afford it all and again. From me/our there is full score. Thank you very much and we look again!!!"

"I had a tomato soup and a pizza Vegetaria. To do this, a nice chef from the barrel. The restaurant is cozy and I had very nice staff. There was fresh bread tomato soup. The pizza with roasted vegetables was something else. I've tasted both very well and prices are okay. The soup would have been enough for two, so I unfortunately had to remove the dessert. A minimal drop of wormwood. The plates were cleared in passing and I wasn't even asked if everything was okay. From my point of view highly recommended."
