"Our first time at this restaurant but definitely not the last. We had the three course lunch menu at 19€ and it was incredible value for the quality of what we ate. Starter of poached type egg, covered and fried in breadcrumbs served on a bed of diced potatoes and spinach in a mild curry sauce. Followed by excellently cooked steak pieces with cabbage and purée, my wife had filet of pollock served on a bed of sea vegetables which she said was wonderful. Dessert for me was a type of eclair filled with orange slices etc and served with a very delicately flavoured lemon grass ice cream, amazing !, my wife had elderflower flavoured cream, coulis, with fresh strawberries with mascarpone ice cream, again amazing. Excellent choices of wine at very reasonable prices, all served by very helpful and friendly staff. The chef, Michael Durkin, worked in a lot of quality restaurants, including working with Tom Kerridge, and it shows. His attention to detail, use of unusual ingredients etc makes this restaurant a winner every time.It's in Saintes, a wonderful old town with Roman amphitheatre, statuesque cathedral, vibrant markets etc, which is a great place to visit and explore. There is also car parking opposite the restaurant, next to the river, with more about 200 metres further on, making it a great place to relax and enjoy good food before or after you've explored the town."

we had an excellent lunch with my wife and cousin. eat very good and tasty. fish was beautiful. met English owner after the meal that was very friendly. a lot of luck for the future

We just ate the menu de jour at 29, Trout, pork belly and reconfigured Black Forest gateau and it was first class. Micheal and his team offer delicious food at reasonable prices and exceptional cuisine and service. If you’re visiting Saintes 29 is a must...go place. Visualizza piatti

I had tried to come to another, but it was back to work, not going. great disappointment. but she recommended the 29 and oh what a pleasure it was. great place to eat good and very good for kovidregs. I would recommend it even without hesitation...not cheap, but it's totally worth it.

We ate here at lunchtime and the food was delicious. I had the "chefs suggestion" which was €31 per person and excellent. The chef is British and has worked with Tom Kerridge and the quality shows. This was the best meal that we had in our 3 week tour of France. We travel to France each year for our summer hols and next year we will ensure our route allows for a trip to Restaurant Vingt Neuf.

A small but great lunch menu. Thursday lunch with friends, we hadn't been to this restaurant before our friends had and after reading the reviews, I was keen to visit. The menu had 2 courses for each, starter, main, and dessert . A butternut velouté,...goats cheese with beetroot for starter. Guinea fowl with little veg. or sturgeon and little veg for mains. Creme brûlée or chocolate melt for dessert. The food was great quality, very tasty, and well presented. The service was good and the atmosphere very pleasant. would like to introduce a restaurant in france the English Sunday dinner into the French, then it should be a top knotch offer. that wasn't it. leathery instead of crispy roasts, no gravure with roasted, tiny meat portions, average yorkies (but also served with bubbly boar!? . the broccoli was excellent, carrots and papageien so. tepid eat. fish and chips were acceptable, but chips seem to be boiled. not a great advertising for Anglo-Saxon cuisine and not better than most ordinary pub offers. apéros, weine, amd desserts gut, coffee again tepid. website should make it clear that the Sunday midday menu is limited variety and this type of food.

we passed here by chance on a lunch walk. the hotel is located just outside the city center, close to the river and a comfortable parking lot, it is a resized from the hectic of the city. the menu and the restaurant looked at attraktiw and you can...outside the eating was excellent derées of cauliflower-velouté and a fantastic bark cheek with foie grass; haupts of makrele and confit huhn both perfectly cooked and packed with hidden french and aromen; I finished with a bounty style dessert', which is actually deliciously roasted cocosnus with dark, dark chocolate. excellent value at 20€/23€ for two or three course lunches. accompanied with a glass every charentais wein (especially an interest...
