"Nice cosy restaurant with a good menu and all of the typical Swiss favorites that you would expect (fondue etc.. in the mountains. That said, the service was a major let down even if the waiters and waitresses were very friendly. There was a complete...lack of coordination between the staff with what was seemingly a complete lack of direction or management. All the staff were running in all directions and there was an exceptionally long wait between each course. From what I could see, the staff were overwhelmed due to a clear lack of direction everyone was seemingly serving every table which meant that no one was actually watching tables or customers or their needs. Must be the first time I have seen a restaurant that doesn’t have staff assigned to tables and not surprisingly as it just doesn’t work. Fondue was good and the prices were what you would expect in Villars. Would I return ? Yes probably but it would need to have some organization, direction and discipline in the service to make it worthwhile."

I have asked for a change of menu times. The waitresss confirmed it to me. When the plate arrived, no change had been made. furthermore one of the waitress was rude

We spent a nice time in Vieux-Villars. The staff was GREAT always with a big SMILE. We have the BACCHUS specialty with Beef. It was very good with additional salad and fries for free. Our table was nicely located next to a window, i would...recommend the upper levels to eat. Will come back !

Booking straightforward, pleasant greeting, rapid and attentive service. Menu reasonably large. Food tasted fine liver Rösti Rösti with tomme (fried cheese), dark Toblerone mousse fresh apple tart). A multi-level layout where each level is focussed on serving a slightly differ swiss oriented menu choice. My perch was tasty and, interestingly, was arranged as one fish' which was composed of many fillets of quite small fish (probably only an ounce each). They must...have taken a lot of trouble to fillet! The service was effective.

Across three floors, raclette in basement only, so if you want raclette it’s probably best to say so at time of booking, great selection of food including vegetarian options, which is unusual in Switzerland. Also they open on a monday night which is the night...most other restaurants seem to close. Staff could have been a little more welcoming, nobody took your coat, or showed you where to sit for pre dinner drink or even gave you a drinks menu, we had to ask them, but once at our dining table the service was fine and helpful, so if they just upped their game on the meet and greet front, especially as they were not busy, it would have been pretty perfect. Would definitely go back.

I’ve realized to late that the owner has changed. I’ve booked for and been told that was full and should wait for one hour. Arrived at the place, one hour later, I figured out that they had free tables... I took ages to get...served, wrong drink by the way. I should wait more than minutes to get the food, by then I’ve finished my drink, waiter never asked if I need something else, I should order to another one. I’ve eaten here twice, once in Aug and then two nights back in Jan It’s a nice restaurant, well looked after with a great choice of dishes. The food is tasty, decent portion size and pretty good value for the Swiss Alps. The...only thing stopping me from giving is that on both occasions, the service has been “mixed”. We’ve been to this nice restaurant often and it was always a good experience with delicious food of high quality. Since the change of ownership years ago, it’s the first time we’re back. The welcome was very friendly and they have a dynamic team....The interior has hardly changed and is still pleasant. The meals however were a big deception: the different Roesti looked yummy and crispy but were drowned in low-quality oil.
