We've landed in Russels's rather by chance, but it was a great evening. The food is not cheap, but very high quality. Good wine list. The service attentive and very funny. Overall, the evening was very rewarded, especially because we laughed a lot.

Russell's was highly recommended and our delicious dinner, served so capably under difficult conditions, did not disappoint. Robert has created a perfect combination of country house style and imaginative cuisine most welcome at the end of a long day.

I have dined at Russell's restaurant at Smiddy House for the third time and it was outstanding once again. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. It was first class in every way and the setting was wonderful for a truly exquisite dining experience. Thank you very much.

We spent one night at Smiddy House and dined at their Russell’s Restaurant. We were extremely pleased with the food, service, and wine selection. The menu offered a wide variety of options and the cooking was expertly done. We especially enjoyed the primitivo wine. The prices were reasonable and it's no surprise that the restaurant has been awarded 2 AA rosettes.

We recently booked afternoon tea for the first time and it turned out to be one of our best decisions. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Robert and received top-notch VIP treatment throughout. Everything served was freshly baked and delicious. We were even able to take home any uneaten items to enjoy later. We give this experience 5 stars for great value for money. If given the chance, we would definitely return in the future.

We were staying locally, and Russell's was recommended by our hosts. There was clearly some nervousness, because it was so soon after lifting of Covid restrictions, but the proprietors had prepared well, and we enjoyed a lovely evening – in spite of a pompous prat in a kilt, who tried to insinuate that we were invading his personal space by being in Scotland. Turned out he was an English surgeon from Inverness, 80 miles away! The food was great, too.
