"I really like the number of food choices at this train station. There 's pho, sandwiches, Italian, kebabs, sushi etc. The prices were all really reasonable except the fresh fruit juice. What I didn 't like was the lack of escalators going down to the track numbers. It 's a busy train station so I know it wasn 't just me with a suitcase or two. They clearly understand that people have luggage because there 's escalators going up. So....if you know people who arrive at Hamburg train station need to get up the stairs, wouldn 't it make sense that the same people departing need to go down to get on a train? Other than that, it 's a train station. There 's nothing to love about it or hate about it. It looks historical and very utilized compared to the glitzy look of the Berlin one. Tip: pretend not to speak English or German as the beggars walk the tracks trying to ask for money. One in particular was quite rude and yelled at us when we cut him off and said sorry, no English ."

quite confusing not really clear but does the job. A lot of homeless and drunk people outside at night and day.

Despite what other people might say, I think the building is cute. Trains, food options, clear signage, and tons of easily identifiable places for meeting purposes. And Hauptbahnhof is fun to say. Hauptbahnhof. tee hee hee

Ughh really? How is this rated so high? I did not like this station as much as others I'd been to. The platforms are small and CROWDED. It's very hard to move around. There aren't too many places to get food (compared to the Berlin Hbf) Maybe it was just the day I went but not crazy about this particular station.

Hamburg Haupthahnhof has all the makings of a train station, but is location makes it a juggernaut for travel throughout Germany, Denmark, etc. 4 hours to Copenhagen! Second level rossman's has 1 liter bottles water for less than a euro. And of course anything else you might need for your journey! Or, just for fun... Also, do check your ticket prices. My fare was actually the same for first class or second class, so I snagged a first class ticket and then got to enjoy the much calmer, quieter DB first class lounge. ICE trains haven't failed me yet...fingers crossed. Visualizza piatti

Hamburg's Hauptbahnhof is the second busiest airport in Europe after Paris Gare du Nord, processing over 200 million passengers per year. It's massive with intercity and international trains terminating here and transferring to underground, surface suburban and tram lines. Despite all of that traffic, we found it particularly easy to navigate with good signage and plenty of ticket vending machines as we transferred to the underground which did mean a short walk outside in the rain. Lots of food options, a free wifi that worked a little and lots and lots of people rushing about. I liked it. [Review 12049 overall, 1832 of 2019.

Hamburg main station is an old station, the station itself is quite simple, compared with most of the architectures in Hamburg, this is a very humble fella. The station is very easy to get around. Basically all the platforms all in one place. Inside the station, you can find many different shops and cafes. And the good thing is some of them stay open even after midnight, that's kinda rare in Germany. So if you got here with a late night train or weekend party just walk by, no need to worried, to find something to eat. Although the station isn't that big, but there high amount number of passengers come and go everyday. Somehow make this a place dangerous. Just look good after your own belongi...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
