"Tuesday 8th Oct 6pm. Only customers in restaurant. Our fish 'n ' chips were cooked to order. While they were cooking the fryer alarm was being triggered constantly. I was told it was the fat level and there was nothing the operator could do about it. Nearly left as it was very annoying. We were offered ketchup and it arrived in a refillable plastic bottle. Our meal arrived and looked great. Crunchy chips and crisp fish. As we started to eat you could see the fat collecting on the plate. Finished the meal and too be honest would never go in again. Both my wife and myself felt quite unwell afterwards, the taste of fat kept regurgitating."

An excellent experience. The fish and chips were delicious, the service was amazing and the decor is lovely. A truly great place to eat.

Used to be Great will not bother again new owners need to go back to using proper chips cooked in batter and Dripping today tasted like frozen chips hardly any batter and normal oil

This is the first time u and my family have been into scoffs The food was excellent cooked as it's ordered the staff was friendly and helpful and it was very clean would recommend it to all my family and friends we will certainly be back again

Bit peckish so stopped for a small portion , the service was friendly and quick . The chips were lovely fresh , hot and very light and golden . I didnt realise they were fried in batter until later but they did not feel greasy at all . Really enjoyed them !

Stopped here to get some sausage and chips for lunch and was very impressed. Here on holiday so not sure on the area and must say we was pleasantly surprised. Extremely clean and staff extra friends. The chips and sausages were piping hot and delicious. Definitely recommend.

I haven't eaten in the shop, so cannot comment on that, however this is the best Fish and Chips i have ever tasted, and as a resident of Barnstaple is the only Fish and Chip shop i now use. In my opinion it is the creme de la creme of Chip shops. Very polite and friendly staff, lovely hot fresh food and nice and clean premises. Whenever we have anyone stay, a visit to scoffs is always on the agenda.

Never tasted anything as good as scoff fish and chips, no pretension just good food. place extremely clean, sraff nice and chatty when they have the time ,i think they need more staff, but its nice to know the food is cooked almost to order. always worth a few minutes wait. I will be going back regularly for my dose of fish and chips mushy peas. Better than some of these so called award winning places around Devon.

This restaurant is super friendly and the food delicious! I had scampi chips and salad while my husband had salt and pepper squid chips and salad..proper Yorkshire chips cooked to perfection, not greasy stick to the roof of your mouth but crispy moreish chips and I'm not usually a chip lover ! Will definitely go again when im next in the area...to the owners...Will let you know if I suss out the recipe and have success
