"Went for lunch at the Shanghai on a Saturday with the family and have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. First of all, the place looks amazing! Massive chandeliers, a big old fake blossom tree, huge fish tank with koi carp and marble effect...throughout. We were escorted through the restaurant to a ‘VIP’ room (no idea why, round table with a lazy Susan off the main room lacked a bit of atmosphere) and there were menus already laid out. One word of advice, if you are there for lunch you need to ask for the lunch set menu as they don’t automatically give you it. We chose off the set menu (a reasonable for courses and a rice/noodle side) aside from my wife who went a la carte. We also had a couple of vegetable dishes (which were both a punchy each). The lunch menu is very limited but ok. We also ordered cocktails (and a mocktail for one child) and a bottle of Prosecco. The food: plentiful, very tasty, a definite step up from take away Chinese food although it still has that sweet edge that I sometimes find challenging. The non-fixed menu option was much more ‘authentic’, being a Szechuan pepper laden tofu/pork dish. And the veggies were absolutely delicious. Rice and noodles all good, starters again are nice but over sweet. Had a few lucky Buddha beers as I’d never heard of them refreshing and tasty. Service was very good. Attentive and quick took no time to catch someone’s eye and get what we requested. My only gripe would be that the price point is just a little over what I think it should be. As long as you go in knowing that you are going to be paying double what you normally expect then you’re ok and if you think that the environment and service warrants that."

Really nice food, beautiful decor and a fish tank too which is great for kids while waiting for a table. At busy times there is a little wait but it’s worth it for the food! So good have been many times and will go again.

We were recommended to eat there as the best Chinese restaurant in the south by someone who lived in Hong Kong until recently. It exceeded our expectations on decor, service and food. We will definitely be back for an evening meal.

This place has the wow factor the moment you walk in the door greeted by cherry blossom trees a massive fish tank wonderful lighting. The food was absolutely amazing… the chicken curry was superb! Cannot fault the service from start to finish Shanghai Bar fantastic! We will be back!

Myself and my partner love Chinese food, so when we was looking for a local eat in restaurant, these come up and thought give them a try. Very nice and hot food, and great customer service who were happy to help with anything we needed....Atmosphere was great, and overall a lovely evening.

A Beautiful Venue. However the quality of the food was awful. Slimy chicken. Dried out duck, and beefless crispy beef . The food came out haphazard so we were not all able to eat at the same time. This has put us off this type...of cuisine for the future. Also very overpriced . The staff need lessons on how to serve to clients to, Lots of leaning over and service from the wrong side of clients in what is supposed to be a high class venue. You need to get the food and service to match the lovely venue. Disappointed is an understatement !

We went to the restaurant last night, the decor is absolutely lovely. Very conscious on Covid, a machine that took your temperature, which stopped working and then temp taken with hand held machineand asked to use the sanitizer. The prices are really high, for...Crispy shredded beef, which had one ingredient missing any beef. plus for fried rice.As a table of orders were taken, checked but delivery was not good. It was amazing how long the final egg fried rices took. The chicken curry took so long that some were half way through their meal, during that time the rice was going cold.
