Shanghai Bay - Piatti

This is our favourite restaurant .Whenever we go Southampton, we are there. Chicken sweet corn soup kingprawn choumin is in one of our favourite lists.

Myself and 5 friends visited on Saturday evening 8th July 2023. The staff were efficient, polite and service with a sense of humour! The food was Excellent. Thank you!

Four of us ordered a variety of meat, vegetable, and rice dishes to share. Everything was so good that we couldn't pick a favorite. My go-to dish, beef with ho fun and beansprouts, was as delicious as always, and the braised aubergine in spicy sauce quickly became a new favorite. The service was also very fast and attentive.

The food was delicious! We ordered spicy beef, sautéed chicken, buns, crab and sweetcorn soup. Really loved it, all cooked fresh, tasty, done quickly. We especially enjoyed the sweet egg buns that look like mushrooms- they were something else, so delicious! The service was really friendly and quick, will definitely come back.

We called in here while we were staying in Southampton, nice restaurant and very busy which is always a good sign, we looked at the menu and decided on the set meal but we had to laugh when the owner told us it was too much food for us both to chose something else, we did chuckle, what we had though was lovely and we would visit again Visualizza piatti

I used to visit this restaurant many years ago when it was great but obviously things have changed. Staff were snappy and acted like we were a nuisance we even had to ask are you open due to the strange reception we received and thought maybe they were trying to close. Chicken curry was quite bland and my beef chow mein was strange tasting. I would never eat here again to be honest.

When you arrive at this Chinese restaurant at 3:00 in the afternoon, you'll know you're in the right place when you hear Chinese being spoken all around you. The dim sum and main courses were delicious, and we compared it to restaurants in London's Chinatown - this one definitely has some of the best dim sum around. You can tell it's good when the majority of the guests are Chinese. The cheung fun was particularly impressive, with thin noodles and large, juicy prawns.

The food at this restaurant is outstanding, however, our dining experience was marred by the rude behavior of the head waiter. Our dim sum dishes arrived at intervals of about 5 minutes, which was not a problem for us. Unfortunately, the last two plates never came. After a long wait, we inquired about them and were informed that one of the dishes was not available that day. The head waiter showed no concern, offered no apologies, and simply told us to wait. As more customers lined up along the staircase, we requested our final dish to be packed so we could leave. The head waiter dismissively told us to wait as they had their own system.
