"Booked expecting idyllic floodlight sledge ride home after group meal. What you really get: 1. Pay for winding ride up in snow machine. Ok. 2. Arrive at a beautiful setting for food. Very nice and authentic inside and outside. Nice. 3. Food not available that we wanted and apparently we should have booked 24 hours ahead. What for a Cheese fondue? Where does it ask that? 4. Sat next to a group of 20 who were not eating and who spent the entire time smashing the tables and painting one another’s faces. Hilarious. Except this is a restaurant and not the circus. 5. Told that if we wanted a dessert or coffee we had to move as they needed the table for the next sitting. What? No mention of this at any point and the table of 20 who presumably were spending thousands on shots were left to continue to wreck the evening of everyone else in the room. 6. We left. No tip. Loved the reaction to that and summed up the attitude of the people. It is all about your money. 7. Left in a Tobogan. But not on a winding floodlight stretch down the mountain. It is back down the winding road track that at points is black-out and has no sides leading in to prevent you sliding in to a river. If you have anyone who is faint-hearted. Be aware. If you want a memorable ride, go to the others. Bad bad experience and the only bad one in our entire stay at wonderful Saalbach."

Having walked for around 4 hours we dropped into the Spielberg House for a late lunch. Super staff and lovely meal that provided the energy to walk back down along the river into Saalbach.

Venison burger was excellent. Kids had a choice. Good value. Nice staff. Ride up the mountain was exciting for the kids and the toboggans back down was the highlight. Best evening of our ski trip.

Beautiful restaurant serving local food. Visiting in winter involves riding to up the mountain in a Pisten Bully followed by a toboggan ride back down to the village of Saalbach after your meal. The food served was hot, fresh and incredibly tasty. The whole atmosphere of the place is warm and welcoming.

We visited Spielberghaus with a Swedish tour. The food: spareribs and roasted potatoes with two different sauces tasted good. However, it would have been nice with som vegetables e.g. a sallad with tomatoes with the food. We had the classical Apfelstrudeln as dessert. There were many groups with noicy and drunk people. We game early and left efter about 1,5 hour.

Went there as a part of a package with a drive up in the piste-machine, dinner and drinks, and a sled-ride several kilometers downhill. The food was good, but for drinks I suggest to stick with beer or jägermeister. The sled ride home is the highlight, and it is absolutely epic! Feels like real life mario-kart, if you know what that is. I laughed the whole way down, and everyone seemed to enjoy it no matter the age or how fast they got down.

We had a Christmas dinner at Spielberghaus and really enjoyed the experience. Having a meal there is really an experience as it includes firstly a ride up to the restaurant on a snow groomer and you return back to the village on a sledge along a 3km long path. The food was very good and service friendly. The food is served very quickly (almost too quickly, but that’s something we’ve experienced in almost every restaurant around here). The venison burger is definitely worth trying as well as the spinach knödels.

We attended Spielberhaus with a group arranged by Skiskhule Saalbach. Walk to the outskirts of the town to meet the restaurant’s piste bashes which whisks you up the mountain. This is an experience in itself. Travelling in the open top piste bashes in swirling snowfall is not for whomps but we loved it. Arrived at the hotel cloaked in a winter wonderland to be welcomed into the warm and inviting building. Ribs, potato wedges and salad washed down with beer or wine was top notch and very filling. Desert was not required but we did manage squeeze in a schnapps or two. Staff did well to serve a large group efficiently. Well done. After our dinner we took the toboggans back down to the town. The restaurant (situated on the Saalbach mountains) offers a rib dinner with a sledge ride back to Saalbach. We participated in this dinner event through our trip organizer in a group of, perhaps, 40 people. As we arrived at the restaurant, the staff was still cleaning the table after the previous group. It seemed to us that the restaurant was overbooked: The trip organizer tried to push people at our table to sit even more packed, to have some of us sit at the corners of the table. This hassle in finding a seat for all -at a dinner which had required booking in advance- was definitely not a nice beginning. Some of the ribs offered were very dry. The dinner consisted only of ribs, fries, sau...

"It started at the top but unfortunately it ended up being a downturn. The reception here was pleasant. The restaurant gave a very positive impression as we took the elevator up to the 4th floor. A positive restaurant manager showed us to our table and we took his recommendations on wine. We were served some wonderful starters while waiting for the steaks we had ordered. Most of us went for the sharing menu. The downturn had now begun. We waited extremely long for our orders. We sat there with empty glasses for a long time. One of the guests had to order the same beer three times before it appeared. When the main course was served we all discovered that none of the steaks were cooked as we had requested. That in combination with sitting there with empty glasses made us reasonably frustrated. Finally, one of us left the table to pick up our wine. We had in fact ordered magnum bottles that were placed out of our reach. Otherwise we could have just served ourselves. Something we finally did, but then we had to go get the bottle ourselves. The result was that we left the restaurant without drinking one of the magnum bottles. It was enough when the table next to us was filled with guests who made quite a lot of noise. I think the staff suspected that we were ultimately dissatisfied, but then it was too late. We just wanted to leave the place. Part of the problem here is probably that the restaurant is understaffed. To us, it seemed like they only had one waitress at work. This is far too little seen as to the size of the restaurant. He was unable to follow up the guests in a satisfactory manner."

"Stayed in the hotel here after booking a holiday through SunWeb. Location Excellent! Right in the centre of the town. All 3 lifts are close, so can easily access all the different ski areas. I would say the best located hotel in Saalbach. Wifi Doesn 't work. Rooms Basic but unbelievably clean, not a spot of dust! Beds and towels changed daily. Good amount of coathangers in the wardrobe. No kettle. Bathroom Small but useable, hot water for about 10 minutes then flicks between hot and cold. Balcony Shared. Views Cracking! Can see the piste from room 11. Breakfast Pretty poor. Ham, cheese and bread, 3 different cereal choices. Yoghurt (all seem to be blueberry flavoured). This didn 't change for the week so by day 7 we were pretty fed up of it. The staff (I think owners) made themselves fresh bacon and eggs daily and sat in the restaurant eating it while we 're eating the cold ham and cheese sandwich, kind of felt wrong. Check in the hotel was called Pension Schattbergstube on SunWeb, the transfer dropped us outside this restaurant and it really wasn 't clear if it was a hotel, I tried ask the man behind the bar but he didn 't speak any english. Luckily one of the waitresses did, she advised that it is the right place and housekeeping would show us to our room. Housekeeping didn 't speak any english either, no indication where to store the skis, what time breakfast was, anything. For the whole stay we were unable to comunicate with staff, I understand that it shouldn 't be expected for people to speak English, but there was no attempt to communicate Everywhere I have stayed previously we have at least used charades to try and make it through. I would stay at this hotel again for the location, not for anything else."
