The restaurant no doubt looked great tot us as we had hiked hours to get there. However, the food was quite good and the view into the valley is amazing. Despite being close to Freiburg the place is very quiet as if there was...no one around. Although there is a gate which prevents cars from getting too close, I believe it an be opened if needed allowing access to all

This place offers stunning views of the Frieburg valley. The walks around the restaurant make it a convenient destination for hikers.The food is imaginative and the cauliflower in sesame batter a revelation.\However it is tapas style which unfortunately means having very small portions hoping that you will buy a number of them to make a meal. A guess that you will need about 3-4 to satisfy a walk induced hunger and that this may make you start judging value for money.

If you come on foot from the city it's a somewhat long and steep walk, but it is worth it. The locale is really nice, and has a nice view of the valleh below. When we arrived just before nine on a Friday evening it...was pretty much full but we could share a table with two nice gentlemen so that went fine. The menu looked very promising and it was difficult to choose, but our choices at least were all excellent, as was the Ketterer wheat beer that accompanyed the food. I'll gladly recommend this place to anyone wanting a nice place to eat good local food. I'll definitely want to return on a future visit to Freiburg

the first sunny Sunday in Freiburg and we decided to hike with my man and our months-long baby. we went to st. barbara, because we always make st. valentin and st. ottilien, so a change. the place has a very. nice vew, it was full, so it was a surprise to see cuddly youngs waiting tables. no chance to sit outside, so let's sit where almost nobody sat. we waited an hour and didn't even look at each other. never get a menu, and when we asked the waiting time to come to us. on a very beautiful wise. He just ignored it. we finally left and the waiter just laughed! we were not the only one who left, but laughing and not even an apology...unusable the waiters were very rude. we were very disappoin... The first sunny Sunday in Freiburg and we decided to go wandern with my husband and our months old baby. We went to St Barbara because we always do St Valentin and St Ottilien, so for a change...why not? The place has a very...nice vew, it was full, so it was a surprise to see kust guys waiting tables. Not a chance to seat outside, so let‘s sit inside where almost nobody was sitting. We waited ones hour, and no once even looked at us. Never got a menu, and when we asked the waited to come to us...alway ina very nice way...he just ignored it. We finally left and the waiter just laughed at us!!! The food is Blackforest Tapas, Schwarzwald Tapas so being tapas, naturally you'll receive tapas sized plates, so absolutely no problem there, the clue is in the name. Perhaps just order more and...enjoy a wider variety of dishes, even better with the tapas wine selection. The food is very tasty and of course typically Blackforest, so you can enjoy a wide range of seasonal food from the region all delicious. Being a commercial food photographer in London I am lucky enough to work with a lot of chefs the food here every time we have visited really has been very good.
