"Vist Oberammergau several times a year for work and always make I sure I come here, and as unimaginative as it seems, I always have the schnitzel - I just can't resist it. Perfect thin escalopes of pork in a breadcrumb which includes bacon bits, served on delicious buttery saute potatoes with onions - comes with a well dressed side salad too.You get 2 food size schnitzels per portion, which seems generous (though I've always managed to finish them off). Other dishes on the menu look good too (one of our party had the lamb and was very pleased) and the desserts are also very good. All in all it's a must-eat stop in Oberammergau for me. Wolfgang and his wife are always friendly, and welcome returning visitors with genuine warmth. Other staff can be very German (which of course they are) - not rude or impolite, just direct in a way which you don't normally find elsewhere. For example, a request for fries with the burger (let's face it, a very reasonable one) was met with a 'nein'. No explanation, no beating about the bush, just a straight 'nein' - at least you know where you stand. And the kitchen may close while you are finishing off your main course - don't expect to be told and asked if you would like to order dessert. Overall though, these are not reflections on the restaurant, but on the German tendency for plain speaking and rules. I've given it a 5, which is possibly generous, but it's more than a 4 - it's a great place and I will always return."

I've had schnitzel all over Germany and some in Austria but this is by far the best. Friendly staff and great food. Would recommend

I stayed there for a week and was really impressed. Great food, excellent service. Absolutely first class!!!!! Loved every minute there.

This is a fun little restaurant with wonderful German food. Asparagus was in season so we had a great soup, wonderful sausage. It is not to noisy.

Wolfgang and team were outstanding hosts. Breakfast was very fresh as lunch and dinner were quite good with large portions. The Beer is fresh and appetizing.

Dinner with family and friends. Wanted schnitzel on this cold and rainy night. And I got it. Large portions. Accommodated one handicap and tow kids without a problem. Pleasant ambiance and reasonably priced. This is where I would want to be for Christmas - watching the snow fall through the many windows that view the town.

Friendly welcome, good menu, not too large (a good sign!). All the food was very good, and very tasty. - The veal was extremely tender and a delight. The schnitzel was excellent, tender and not greasy. The Asian turkey was also very good and nice to see for a change to the traditional Bavarian offering.Children are welcomed and well catered for .Service was exceptional, thoughtful but not overpowering.All the portions are large - so make sure you are really hungry when you visit!We will definitely be returning!

Wolfgang and his family and staff run this place very efficiently. The greeting is warm and the beer just the right temperature. With the lovely scenery and excellent food on the menu what is not to like, actually nothing !!The local dishes are served as well as Bavarian takes on more continental food. If you are lucky enough to be staying then the breakfasts are a treat to behold with the fresh fruit salad, ham and cheese platters as well as cereal.This should set you up for a hike up the mountains, or a gentle stroll round the interesting shops.Lovely, clean, well presented and very tasty food. Worth visiting.

Lady told us that at 8.30 kitchen was closing soon. She seemed annoyed that we didn't know which kind of beer we wanted (we just wanted a normal beer, nothing special). She couldn't advice us, we had to open the menu and tell her exactly which one we wanted. White Wine was served either in 0,1 l or 0,75 l volumes. However a red wine was served either in 0,2 l or 0,75 l..... who serves 0,1 l measures these days? the bottle of wine we ordered was plonked on the table and we weren't even asked to try it.
