Enjoyed my lunch with three friends today Took us a little bit extra to find the place, since we are not from here.

Very good restaurant with French food, dishes are fresh and good. Several choice of local wines and beers. Large outdoor space to eat.

The staff is very friendly. The rooms are quiet (car located on the garden/court side) and are well anchored, with a small private terrace. Good point, the downs are good. Other reviews were positive, so perhaps they were having an off day. The food was very ordinary and the prices were high. Why ask how we want our steaks cooked (medium) and then make all three of them well-done anyway? Three of us ordered strawberries for dessert but were later told that there were no strawberries left. I had half a lobster (over cooked) but no claw crackers were brought until we asked. This was lunch time on a quiet week day, so the staff were not under pressure. We wanted an overnight stay not far from Guedelon Mediaeval Castle (about 15 km). We were not disappointed. Room (Comfort Room) very clean and well facilitated; very grateful for air conditioning on such a hot day. Small balcony overlooking canal was a bonus. Luxury shower and separate WC. WIFI worked well. Charming host/owner who spoke good English and was abe to provide our Guedelon tickets (no extra charge). We opted to eat dinner, choosing a four course menu at 28 euros p.p. (There is a variety of choices). Lovely food and good choice of wine. All well presented, with small appetizers offered too. Also, fun cocktails available (huge).
