"I visited the cafe in September, and ordered from the special menu, tea and a tea cake. It wasnt bad to be fair. What I was disappointed in was the poor service. When he bill arrived, I was charged more than I should have been. When I challenged this, it was for the extra hot water. What ensued then was terrible. The waitress said she told me there was a charge, the (what I believe) was the manger also said I was wrong. It was not just embarassing, but absolutely 0 customer service skills. The special menu has no mention of any additional costs. I would avoid at all costs. I did try to speak to the manager to say what perhaps they could do, clearly not interested."

Nice cafe to have two toasted teacakes and a large orange juice and a pot of tea for one and the staff are very friendly I would recommend this cafe for excellent service

This place has the most welcoming staff of any café that we have been to. And the meals are outstanding. Quality ingredients that are full of flavour. We highly recommend the breakfast, and although we haven't tried them yet, the cakes look amazing.

We popped in for lunch and coffee as the cafe looked nice and clean. We were not disappointed as staff were very friendly and the food and service were excellent. Added benefit was we were able to get gluten free option which isn’t always available at other places

We called in for breakfast and really enjoyed what we had. I opted for sausage , bacon and tomatoes on a bagette, my Son had bacon and egg cob. It kept me going til evening time. A good strong cup of tea as well. Spotless tables and table service made it even better.

We visited the cafe a few days ago. It was a wonderful experience. The staff, the food and service. Even when they were short of staff we received a good service. Food wise, we loved the breakfast. It was tasty and filling. Will definitely come back. I highly recommend this place.

After reading the other reviews, I anticipate a sarcastic response shifting blame from unprofessional management. I would actually be disappointed if management doesn't respond sarcastically, as previous responses have revealed the true nature of the cafe across from Home Bargains in...

I highly recommend the cottage loaf, full cooked breakfast, (full quality bacon and sausage! fresh, delicious salads and extremely pleasant staff! I'm a regular customer of the cottage loaf and like a good catch up with friends and family every couple of weeks or so and we always meet here! Prices are good and all members of the team are very polite and friendly! Love this cafe!

We ordered 1 ham salad sandwich and 1 cheese sandwich with onion 1 standard latte and 1 pot of tea. Total price £17-55 absolutely disgusting price. Apparently the onion was separate at £1-70. The very rude assistant said when we questioned the price, Don't you read the menu and we don't give fillings for free. I never thought onion would be priced separate from the cheese sandwich. And over £6 for a standard ham salad sandwich 2 slices of bread. Needless to say we won't be visiting this place again.

"I've been in Horncastle on business twice once on a Monday, once on a Tuesday and both times found the town mostly closed for business in the evenings. This time, just as I was on the point of deciding people in Lincolnshire must have a tradition of fasting on a Tuesday evening, I came across The Bull. This attractive old coaching hotel looked inviting, and the staff offered me a friendly welcome. The warmly lit, high ceilinged interior of this Georgian inn was full of diners (Yes on a Tuesday! Take note, other restauranteurs of Horncastle) and the ambiance was convivial. The selection of beers behind the bar was good and the two pints I drank were tasty and well kept. I was presented with two bar menus, a separate burger menu and shown a fish menu and a steak menu on the wall. (I understand tapas is also available at weekends). Quite a choice! The bar menus largely consisted of what you might call traditional pub grub of the best kind. Within that massive choice, there must have been at least half a dozen dishes I was really tempted by but, eventually, I plumped for the cauliflower soup followed by the pork belly, mash, peas and apple gravy. Both courses were outstanding and extremely generous in size, especially the pork belly. My only disappointment was that I hadn't room in my distended belly to squeeze in a spotted dick for pudding! My bill, for such a large and excellent meal, was very modest. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner at The Bull and would definitely eat and/or drink there again."
