"Visited for a hot drink. Both of us visiting have been or are in catering.Very good service from lady in black blouse/skirt making sure we scanned on NHS track and trace and guided us to a table. However fortunately or unfortunately our table was right by the serving counter for cakes, preparation of hot drinks. In between preparation of hot drinks the uninformed past was busy eating her lunch , a Tuna sandwich. We know it was Tuna as my niece found a flake of tuna on her hot chocolate spoon( thank god she isn’t allergic to fish/ seafood).Never once did she wash her hands in between eating her food, serving hot drinks and then going out to clear outside tables .We both felt we couldn’t say anything as the uniformed lady who was professional and made sure we scanned our NHS app and made sure we safely sat at our table would have been offended. However I will never visit again. Such poor hygiene from the lady preparing drinks and eating in between and then sending to tables."

Obviously popular and not surprising. Great value and good choice of food. Cheese scones in particular are lovely.

I go here most weeks, the staff remember all regular customers. They do the best scones, and good coffee at very reasonable prices, bacon rolls excellent.

Always a great experience when visiting. Food really good. Cheese scones excellent and coffee nice and hot and tastes like coffee, not warm milk. Friendly staff and helpful. Worth a visit!

Went here for a quick lunch and had a lovely bowl of homemade soup. This is a really unpretentious, nice little cafe. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Cakes looked amazing as well but I didn’t try any as am trying to be good after Christmas! Visualizza piatti

I took my dog to meet my elderly mother (easy to access disabled parking). We sat out in the courtyard. It was informal and the surroundings are pleasant as they are well away from the road. I had a decaffeinated americano with hot milk. Good value for money. Staff were friendly. I will visit again.

Popped in for coffee and toasted tea cake which took a while to arrive but when it did it was fine. The kitchen which was on view was very small and full of used crockery including the wash hand basin but what we had was satisfactory if a little on the small side. I had a milk shaek and the other half a fruit juice in a small glass

Stopped off on a day out for a bit of lunch, our first trip out post lockdown choice given over seating inside or out, all tables spaced out to allow ample distance between them/other customers. Service was quick, food was lovely and very good value and the cafe is tucked in a corner so again no concerns as to the environment.Tables were cleared and sanitised as soon as customers left, staff were friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely return.

Wonderful homemade scones, fruit and cheese, baked daily, often several batches as demand is high, homemade cakes, soup, cottage pie etc.For such a small kitchen the output of food is amazing and of great quality, plus the usual tea's, coffee ,hot chocalate, and cold drinks, you can even enjoy a glass of wine or beer with your meal. The staff are very polite and helpful. What some of the larger chains could learn from the team at The Courtyard Coffee Shop

"Where do I even begin? The service from the woman behind the bar was shocking. When I inquired about dairy-free options for my son, I was told that nothing could be modified and that they don't cater to allergies at all! I pointed out the menu's claim that they could accommodate such needs, but my concerns were met with an eye roll. I then tried to order him some chips, but was told they were fried in the same oil as dairy and meat products, and since we are vegetarian, that wouldn't work. I asked about the vegan dishes, only to learn that they are also prepared alongside meat products, so there's no guarantee they would actually be vegan. At this point, my daughters had already become excited about eating out and the play area, so I reluctantly decided to go along with it and ordered three sandwiches on granary bread and a child's fish and chips. My son had a packet of crisps. When the sandwiches arrived, they were absolutely terrible. The cheese and onion sandwich consisted of two slices of cheap store-bought bread, some pre-grated cheese, and a few onion slices—without even a hint of butter! It certainly wasn’t inexpensive; we paid £45 for four soft drinks, three sandwiches, and a child's meal. As for the play area, it was concerning—there were sharp screws poking through the wood chips, loose sharp fixtures on top of the slide, and a large exposed electric cable under the swings! We decided to leave swiftly; it was such a disappointing way to end our holiday, when it should have been a lovely final meal before heading home. I was appalled by their attitude towards me—I felt like an inconvenience. The food was awful, and I genuinely recommend avoiding this place if you are vegan or have allergies; even if a dish is labeled vegan, they certainly don’t take the necessary precautions to keep it separate from meat products. It’s truly unfortunate, as the location by the river is beautiful, and we were all so excited to be there, but we left feeling very disappointed. We definitely won't be returning."
