"the food was excellent and if something too much of it! Unfortunately, the service was not what I had hoped for, as the waiting time to take their order was quite long. After waiting for about 10 minutes after sitting, I decided to go into the bar and get my own drinks, because it didn't seem to be enough staff, and they were busy or not very attentive once our food order was taken, the meals arrived pretty fast and I can't stress how nice they were our table was cleared after eating quite fast, but a look around the room showed that we were obviously happy. the table next to us was fed so that the guy cleaned his own table. the manager apologised and I think they were understated on a busy day that said I would go back to any case and give them another chance as eating was great and the restaurant/the toilets etc., very clean."

The first time we have visited this restaurant and it will be the first of many visits., The ambience in particular was outstanding. A real jewel, so accessible for meeting friends from different places.

The staff were very friendly. However, it took ages for someone even to come to take our drinks order, then an age for the drinks to arrive. Asked for water in the meantime but the waitress forgot to bring some. Starter plates were on the table when main dishes arrived. Spoon missing for pasta and took a while to arrive, one dish was served cold (cauliflower), promised to make a new one which came out piping hot (probably microwaved). But I was reimbursed for the cauliflower dish when I asked for some kind of compensation for the service that night so that was appreciated. Been eating here for a long time. Seen it ascend from a very poor establishment to one of our favourites. However, just now it seems to be slipping. The food is still reasonably priced, but the quality is not as good. My starter of a paltry amount of mushrooms on a soggy crumpet, buried under a forest of watercress was disappointing. Despite the use of tablet technology, the waitress was not fully aware of the menu and had to return a couple of times to check on aspects of our (simple) order. I doubt it was her fault, more a training issue. Further, as a cask ale enthusiast, the Adnams Ghost Ship I ordered was, at best, drinkable very short on condition.
