"We booked an overnight stay at Crossfell Caravan Park on our way to Scotland and we were delighted that we did! The Fox Inn is conveniently located just across the road from the campsite, so we decided to stop by for a drink. We were impressed by the friendly and welcoming staff and locals, so much so that we ended up staying for a meal instead of cooking in our motorhome. The menu offered a variety of options, but we settled on Crispy Beef with Chilli Sauce and Egg Fried Rice, as well as Chicken Kiev with homemade Chips. Both dishes were delicious, freshly made, and generously portioned, all at a reasonable price. The Easter Cheesecake for dessert was also delightful. We would happily recommend this restaurant to our family and friends and will definitely return when we are in the area again."

The pub greeted us warmly, and there is a fantastic little caravan site across the street. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I am looking forward to visiting again soon.

The food at this restaurant is amazing and it is all cooked at home, with a real British pub food vibe. The staff made us feel very welcome. The pub was busy so we recommend booking a table to avoid a wait.

Staying with friends on Crossfell Caravan Site and this is the local. Great food and drinks with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Views and surrounding area are simply stunning and the weather is just amazing! Visualizza piatti

I come here every time we stay at the adjoining campsite. The food is always amazing and the beer is good. A family run business with really fun, friendly staff. If you are in this neck of the woods I cannot recommend The Fox Inn, Ousby and its mouth-watering food highly enough.

Excellent meal with family. The food and service is consistently excellent and nothing is ever too much trouble for Sid,Katy and the staff. The pavlova is to die for! The restaurant was very busy but all socially distanced and felt safe due to Covid safety measures in place. We will definitely be back again soon.

This was the nearest Pub to our holiday rental property. What a pleasant surprise to find great food and local ale deep in the Cumbrian countryside. I always read the lowest rated reviews to get an idea of how restaurants might be. When comments as ridiculous as the two I read. Then I felt we’d find a reasonable pleasant Pub. Visualizza piatti

Superb campsite with a great little pub attached. There’s also a caravan park. This means the pub is packed and kids run riot outside. We had a great meal with generous portions of lovely home cooked food but the constant banging of the bar door plus the football against our window and wall near our table was really distracting. Great sticky toffee pudding Didn’t stay for the live music as it was too busy and too many kids.

What a lovely run family establishment. Set in a beauty peaceful village with wonderful views surrounding. We stayed across the road in their Touring Pitch Site for 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed and would not hesitate to stay again. The Fox Inn is beautifully decorated with a friendly atmosphere. One evening my husband did not feel well enough to go out. So this was over come with the suggestion of a take away meal for him which was piping hot as nothing was too much trouble for them. The portions are very generous of great food at reasonable cost. The menu has plenty to choose from with local ales served much to my husband's delight. We wish Sid, Katy and all the staff all the very best.

"We had a disappointing experience during our stay. The bedroom was quite cold, and despite asking for the heating to be turned on, we had to sit in our coats. The bathroom was freezing each morning, and the dining room didn't offer much relief either. The heating was activated for just one hour, which meant the radiator was cold again when we returned to our room. Their cost-cutting measures significantly impacted our enjoyment. We raised our concerns multiple times, but there was no one available when we settled the bill. At £100 per night for bed and breakfast (totaling over £200 including dinner), it was frustrating to be so uncomfortable. Another guest mentioned they had complained about the heating during their previous visit, only to be told there was an ongoing issue. It seems they simply won’t turn on the heating. We won’t be returning, especially since it’s quite a drive to get into town. Regarding the room, we were assigned an attic room (Room 8). It had many steep stairs and low headroom in places. While the bathroom was nice, it was also freezing. The towel rail was pointless since it was stone cold, and my husband had to skip his morning shower due to the chill. We ended up moving to Room 7, which was smaller but slightly warmer despite having a cold bathroom. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly, and the lights were all or nothing. The next morning, we moved our belongings back to Room 8 since they finally decided to turn on the electric wall heater—which they could have done from the outset. It only took the chill off for a little while. On our last night, we experienced a brief boost of heat, but it only lasted an hour. When we returned after dinner, the room was already cool again. As for nearby activities, there’s a park across a busy road, but everything else requires driving to reach shops and restaurants. Safety-wise, the hotel faces a main road, and there are very few parking spaces available (around four); otherwise, you need to park on the main road. Walking to town is possible, but it takes about 15 to 20 minutes downhill. In terms of food and drinks, the breakfast was decent. When asked if we wanted toast, we received just one slice on the same plate as the cooked breakfast. After asking for more, we had to wait a while before we were given another slice. Dinner was acceptable but nothing to write home about; it felt overpriced compared to the excellent authentic Indian restaurant we found in town, which served great food at better prices and opened at 5 PM. Overall, I'd recommend bringing warm clothes for both the bedroom and dining area; we even saw another guest sitting in her coat the entire time."
