"We visited the café just before it closed and were pleasantly surprised to be told not to rush. We all enjoyed delicious paninis with generous fillings. The staff were all cheerful, helpful, and polite, and the café, including the restroom, was very clean. As a wheelchair user, I found it easy to access the café, although there was no accessible restroom. Despite this, I didn't expect one in such a small, old building. The restroom is reachable without any steps, making it easy to access for those who can walk a short distance. We will definitely be returning to this café in the future."

The service was mediocre and I felt like they were not welcoming customers within an hour of closing. I visited several cafes in town, but this is the one I would not visit again.

The food is quite decent but I got chased down the street accused of not paying for a drink which rather soured the experience. No apology from the staff who clearly didn’t listen when I gave my order.

We visit each year when staying in Church Stretton. Cafe is frequented by locals and tourists ... always a good sign. Great venue for a tea, coffee or snack. Excellent food friendly service. Recommend sausage or bacon sandwich. Visualizza piatti

A pleasant cafe with good outdoor seating which can sometimes attracts the wasps in warmer times. That aside the food is wholesome and the drinks smalll but tasty. A place we always head to while visiting and rarely let's us down

Had a nice stop here for brunch. Sausage bap was ok sausage a bit overcooked but that was only complaint. Friendly welcome and nice ambience. Good value for money. It's the perfect place for some refuelling after a trip up the Long Mynd, sitting at the foot of the road up the hill.

Only prior visit, was back in the early 80's, the ownership and decor may have changed many times over the last 40 years, but the hills are constant and the cafe's location, at the foot of Burway Hill is ideal, for fuelling up for a good walk. Had the smaller breakfast, this was just about spot on, well cooked, tasty and good value served by friendly staff, I won't leave it so long, next time... Visualizza piatti

My group and I stumbled upon this fantastic cafe for breakfast on our way to the Long Mynd. We had a wonderful breakfast - a superb full English with a nice big pot of tea and plenty of toast. The toilets were clean as well. Since we were on motorbikes, we took advantage of the warm sunny morning and sat outside at one of the four tables. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We will definitely be visiting this cafe again!

We arrived into Church Stretton off the hills at 2.55pm and everywhere we tried to get food had stopped serving. We weren't the only ones going from place to place either! The youngsters in here had obviously cleaned up and were ready to close at 3 as their sign said, but they saw we were starving and were really kind and helpful in offering to cook for us. We got a really fab, delicious ham sandwich and a toastie with fresh salad and a great coffee, when noone else in the town could help!! It may have been simple, but it genuinely changed our day!! Thank you!!

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
