"Have been here so many times over the last few years, sometimes for breakfast, mostly for lunch, and often for impromptu coffee and cake, with a fabulous view. Have yet to have a bad experience with either the food or the service, just be prepared to wait as Keith cooks everything from scratch and to order so it’s fresh quality vs speed… His Mum’s homemade cakes are *chefs kiss* and I couldn’t decide if the burgers or toasties are my favourite. How he does it all day every day, and with a smile, I don’t know, but we are so happy he does! Planning to keep coming back regularly as long as he is open, it’s definitely a preferred lunch spot for us."

Food and service were excellent, a nice little dining place. The cheese burger and chips were the favourites by far!

This is a true gem Location well its right in the downs so if you cycle make sure you pay a visit great view and sage with your bike limited benches though but it's a public area so I blame the council Food proper food at good prices when I did office work I used to get everyone's food and I never had a complaint and they always told me to drive and get more! Staff friendly and have a good knowledge of the local area Parking it's based next to a car park : Anyway if your fitNess freak or a hungry builder you will love this place

I've eaten here, and had cups of tea, but that is a rare occasion as it's hard to find it open. It's a shame as this is in such a prime spot, with dog walkers, riders, runners, cyclists. It needs to be open more to serve the public. The owners could make a fortune if they traded better hours. There is nothing else like this on the Downs so it seems a shame that this one isn't providing the service it could. The chap who runs it is pleasant enough and what I've eaten and drank has been good. It's just so disappointing to see it shut up.

"I visited my elderly Mum today, she suggested going to the Derby Arms for a roast dinner as she'd eaten there recently with my sister. However they were fully booked, so I looked online and found Galu. The reviews were great and my Mum has only ever heard good things from friends and neighbours. So I called and booked for 12:45 Sunday 21st Jan 2024. We were both pleasantly surprised to see roast dinners on the menu ... Mum order lamb and I ordered beef part of their set menu. When the dinners arrived, you could see straight away that the lamb was Very Fatty (not even crispy) when my my tried eating it, it was both tough and chewy! As for the beef, this was cooked ok and edible, although I asked for the beef to be medium, but it was more well done. The waiter came over to ask if the meal was ok, I highlighted how the lamb was... the manager then came over and offered my Mum a slice of beef to compensate, bearing in mind she ordered lamb. Mum subsequently found that some of her roast potatoes were hard inside! I finished my meal, but could see Mum really didn't enjoy hers leaving a substantial amount on her plate, and having tried her lamb it really was inedible! We were then offered a full list of desserts rather than the set menu, having chocolate brownie and creme brûlée (both were gorgeous) When the bill arrived, I was hoping they would have somehow made amends, but alas no ... as Mum doesn't like to cause a fuss and it was her treat, I decided not to say anything, although the staff manager could tell we weren't happy. Having come from East Sussex for the day and regularly have great Sunday roasts in local pubs, I was hoping for something special in this restaurant, but sadly that wasn't the case. In fact it's probably one of the worst roast dinners I've had in a long time. I very much doubt we'll return ..."
