"We absolutely love going to The Drake throughout the year. It is a charming traditional pub with a cozy atmosphere, complete with an open fire for chilly days and a lovely garden for warmer days. They have a great variety of drinks and the food is always delicious. The staff are friendly and welcoming, as are the regulars. Our dog is always greeted with lots of affection, which makes this place even more special. We highly recommend it after a hike on the moor. Service: 5 Location: 5"

"I've dined at the Royal Oak many times over the years, and it has always been our favorite spot for a good Sunday roast. However, I doubt we'll return after our recent visit. Last week, we were shocked by the tiny portion we were served for £18! It seemed like they had run out of vegetables, and I was hoping for a side bowl to come with some extras, but that never happened. Although the presentation of the meager serving was nice, the overall experience was disappointing. Additionally, the service was incredibly slow; we had to ask for the bill three times. It's frustrating to say, but the Royal Oak has let us down, especially considering that there are numerous other local pubs that offer better food and larger portions. What you see in the picture is truly what you get. Food: 2, Service: 3, Atmosphere: 4."

"I had been to this restaurant a few times for a walk with my dog and a drink, but had never tried their Sunday roast until today. It was clear that the roast was very popular, so we decided to give it a go. I was impressed by the excellent roast with beautiful fresh vegetables and I especially enjoyed the sweet cauliflower cheese. The meat was tender and overall it was a great meal. The sticky toffee cheesecake was absolutely delicious and a must-try. The restaurant is dog-friendly and my little chi enjoyed sharing some meat with me. I will definitely be returning in the future. I highly recommend this place."

"Looking forward to meeting friends over dinner. First issue was when I asked for a nonalcoholic drink due to driving and asked if I wanted a soft drink. Poor, lack of choice. Had fish and chips that looked good and had a nice crispy batter and the fish inside was nicely cooked. Problem was this had clearly come out of a freezer pre battered and their ping-chef was unable to cook a frozen battered fish properly. Inside of the batter was raw, tasted awful. I meet friends and we take turns to pay, had I been paying I’d have sent the lot back. No comment was made by staff that I’d just peeled ALL the batter back and left it…now a traditional fish and chips it’s normal you eat the lot. A very badly cooked fish and chips raw batter is left so they must be used to this. Won’t be eating here again. If they want to charge restaurant prices, they need to provide the quality food to match. Not part cooked pre-packaged food from a catering suppliers. Very disappointing, spoiled the evening somewhat."

"Visited the café with my friend and our young babies in small car seat prams. We deliberately chose a seat where we would take up less room and cause the least amount of disruption. Initially the service was great and the food was very tasty with good portions. However, halfway through eating our meal, a member of staff came and told us, quite rudely, to move as we were 'blocking both aisles ' in the café. The member of staff told us to move to a table at the side of the room with less room, where we would have caused more of a blockage. We were also part-way through eating our meal and they didn 't offer to help us by moving our plates, especially as we would have had to move two babies as well. We were not causing an obstruction in the café. People were walking past us all the time and the café wasn 't particularly busy as it was a weekday. To add insult to injury, the same member of staff deliberately barged into my friend when we were getting ready to go, probably to prove some sort of point. All in all, after that encounter I felt quite awkward and unwelcome. Such a shame as the rest of the staff were lovely and food was good. We are local but will think twice about coming again. We will probably go to the Dartmoor Diner which is just down the road and has always been much more accommodating."
