"We made a last-minute reservation for a table for two at 6:30pm and were pleasantly surprised to see that we had window seats. However, being 35 weeks pregnant, I found it uncomfortable sitting there. The staff were amazing and offered us another table until 8pm, even though they were fully booked. The food was served promptly and tasted delicious. The halloumi dish and meatballs were clear favorites. We both enjoyed the chocolate orange mousse for dessert, it was sublime! The service and quality of food were top-notch, earning a 5-star rating. We look forward to returning after the arrival of our baby, as I can't wait to try the limoncello and prosecco cocktail!"

Had a birthday gathering here last night. From the moment of booking they were very accommodating. The staff were all very attentive and the food was tasty. Topped off by exceptional desserts and a relaxed and welcoming ambience. Thank you especially to Jake and his team for looking after us. Recommend.

I went back to Shrewsbury for the weekend and was excited to have another fantastic meal at the Olive Tree. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this place. However, if you enjoy tapas, you will not be disappointed. The food was tasty and the atmosphere was pleasant. A special shoutout to our waiter Greg, who was extremely polite and apologetic despite being very busy, resulting in some slow service. This wasn't a problem for us as he remained calm and professional throughout the evening. We will definitely be returning in the future.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
