"The restaurant was short-staffed due to illness, which was out of their control. However, they could still greet guests in a friendly manner. The person behind the counter seemed stressed and was bordering on rude and abrupt. The coffee was great, and the scone and cinnamon bun were lovely. Unfortunately, the white hot chocolate tasted like hot milk and was not drinkable. The decor had changed, and the table arrangement was different from last time, not in a good way. The inside no longer resembled the pictures. If possible, I recommend sitting outside as the views are stunning."

I agree with other reviews that the scones are fantastic. This small establishment has great service and I would definitely come back again.

Delicious coffee and cakes! The cinnamon buns are 10/10. Lovely lookout over the Loch so makes for a lovely setting to enjoy a cappuccino. Highly recommend

We visited here several times June 2019 and were always impressed by the friendliness of the staff and quality of the small menu. With outside tables with amazing Loch Tay views right by the waterside if weather permits!

This was our first time using this cafe. The staff were organised and helpful and the food was lovely. Cakes were great and the home made soup with lovely bread is recommended. Seating outside overlooking Loch Tay and some beautiful views

Tucked away in the corner of the loch. Some seating inside, outside and blankets on the edge of the loch excellent views. Minimal menu but excellent quality. Both cheese and fruit scones amazing. Bacon roll excellent too. Hot and cold drink choices are good too.

What a find. The Paperboat is a beautiful cafe situated on Loch Tay. We visited on a gorgeous summers day and sat outside on the balcony. The cheese scones were the best i have ever tasted and i have eaten a lot of them!! The menu is simple but everthing on there is done to a high standard. Can't wait to return on our next visit.

Great food, great coffee, great location. We stopped on a warm sunny day and got a table on the decking overlooking the loch. We ordered the dhal, pork apple sausage roll, and cheese scone, all of which were excellent, and flat whites which were really tasty (though not *quite* as hot as one of our group would have liked). We loved it, and will be back.

Arrived at 10:30. There was an “event” on (a table full of folk who’d just done a yoga class) and were told we couldn’t get food until 11. Fine, ordered some coffee and waited. At 11:00 we were told that because of the “event” the only good available was a bacon and egg roll. Perfect for a vegetarian… or a cake out the cabinet. Here we are at 11:30 about to leave watching food from the actual menu being brought out to people. They’re probably wondering why it’s nearly mid day and their tip jar is empty… won’t be back.

This gem of a place is sat right on the edge of the loch so the setting is idyllic. But the cake I ate there was sublime. One of the gluten free choices was a white chocolate rocky road and this is what I ordered. It was HUGE as were the other gf non gf) cakes the scones were almost the size of dinner plates). Back to my rocky road though. It was the best cake I have eaten EVER!! It’s worth the journey for that cake alone. Drinks choices were excellent too and the staff were polite and very helpful. Well worth a visit.

"We visited to see the Beatrix Potter Exhibition with family who were visiting and spent a lovely hour going around the exhibition, however our nice time was rudely interrupted by the elderly lady working in the cafe with dyed black curly hair. We have one child with serious allergies, so instead of one child feeling left out and risking cross exposure, we packed safe snacks for all the kids going anywhere with allergies is an absolute nightmare, so we always do this. Most places are trained and appreciative of how hard it is to eat out with allergens and happy to make reasonable adjustments for this. All four adults ate from the cafe. When part of our order was delivered, we were told “this isn’t a picnic area, you can’t eat your own food, you wouldn’t take food in to McDonald’s” (whilst looking at the 2 year old eating her snacks) when I responded yes I actually would, we have a child with allergies, she asked if it was serious allergies to which I said yes and she scoffed and left, no apology, nothing. I must add that whether the children would be eating or not, they would still have to sit at the table and take up the same amount of space. Would the children also be prevented from sitting because they didn’t buy from the cafe? Still waiting on my food order twenty minutes later and having already finished my coffee and frustrated at the wait, I asked for a refund as we now felt hurried to leave because of how upset she was at the children eating snacks at the table without purchasing them in their cafe. I got the refund for my missing meal and we left without going to the shop or seeing the other art, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. We spent just shy of £100 in the place and to be spoken to like that was horrible. The elderly employee with dyed black hair really needs some training on customer service and manners. The way she looked at us as we left was awful, we will not be returning. This place is not welcoming of children or those with allergies I dread to think how they would react to someone who is tube fed, probably told to eat outside just avoid."
