"We visited to see the Beatrix Potter Exhibition with family who were visiting and spent a lovely hour going around the exhibition, however our nice time was rudely interrupted by the elderly lady working in the cafe with dyed black curly hair. We have one child with serious allergies, so instead of one child feeling left out and risking cross exposure, we packed safe snacks for all the kids going anywhere with allergies is an absolute nightmare, so we always do this. Most places are trained and appreciative of how hard it is to eat out with allergens and happy to make reasonable adjustments for this. All four adults ate from the cafe. When part of our order was delivered, we were told “this isn’t a picnic area, you can’t eat your own food, you wouldn’t take food in to McDonald’s” (whilst looking at the 2 year old eating her snacks) when I responded yes I actually would, we have a child with allergies, she asked if it was serious allergies to which I said yes and she scoffed and left, no apology, nothing. I must add that whether the children would be eating or not, they would still have to sit at the table and take up the same amount of space. Would the children also be prevented from sitting because they didn’t buy from the cafe? Still waiting on my food order twenty minutes later and having already finished my coffee and frustrated at the wait, I asked for a refund as we now felt hurried to leave because of how upset she was at the children eating snacks at the table without purchasing them in their cafe. I got the refund for my missing meal and we left without going to the shop or seeing the other art, it has left a bad taste in my mouth. We spent just shy of £100 in the place and to be spoken to like that was horrible. The elderly employee with dyed black hair really needs some training on customer service and manners. The way she looked at us as we left was awful, we will not be returning. This place is not welcoming of children or those with allergies I dread to think how they would react to someone who is tube fed, probably told to eat outside just avoid."

Choices were very limited. The quallity of the food was good. Unfortunately I found the prices to be rediculously inflated for what was on offer.

My friend and I stopped in twice: on the way to Lochinver and then on the way back a couple of days later. Lovely, friendly atmosphere and a stunning location. I had the full Scottish breakfast on both visits and it is without a doubt the BEST full breakfast I've ever had. Extremely good value for money. Visualizza piatti

We popped in after a long walk for a sugar rush. The lady who served us was lovely. The tea was spot on, cakes superb and the lady serving us sorted out a Teddy bear cone for the ice cream for my daughter. It was a lovely atmosphere and that coupled with the Beatrix Potter exhibit was a great way to spend an hour.

We tried somewhere else for a cuppa but the wouldn’t let us in as they where shutting in 55mins!!!!!!!!!!!! Thankfully we wondered further along the road and found this little gem of a cafe. Staff were very friendly and the scones were amazing. Five different types of jam available, I had the raspberry and it was so tasty. Will definitely be back

Stopped here today with my daughter and 2yr old granddaughter for a drink and snack. We'll impressed with the range on offer especially the gluten free items. The food was delicious. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. They were prepared to cater to the most serious aspects of dietary requirements in a knowledgeable and sensitive manner. Can most definitely say I will be back in the near future Visualizza piatti

As the local coffee shop was surprisingly closed on Jubilee Sunday afternoon, we looked for an alternative place and found the lovely Birnam Arts Centre. The staff were extremely helpful. What a surprise to find such a vast menu in this lovely venue just off the main road. I have walked past it many times before not knowing what a lovely coffee shop they had. The outdoor terrace area was lovely on a warm afternoon. Now that we know what delights are here, we will be back. Thank you.

We were driving home from Gairloch to Edinburgh, and were looking forward to lunch here after an hour's driving in the rain on the A7. We know this is a good cafe as we've stopped here making similar journeys in each of the past three years. But: things had been disrupted by a bad thunderstorm, putting some of their systems out of action. We ordered smashed avocado on toast and a brie and cranberry toasted sandwich. To be followed by a slice of good-looking cake. And sat and waited … After waiting 30 minutes, no food arrived. And it transpired that our order had not reached the kitchen ! So we came home for tea instead.

"This place has all the potential for a 5 star experience and you may well have it by going here! Unfortunately, we did not and it's worth explaining why. For context, we didn't stay overnight just had a meal in the restaurant one night and went to the beer garden another. Restaurant: Food was generally very good and prices reasonable. I'd especially recommend the tempura chard if it's on the menu! The setting of the restaurant is also lovely. However, we ended up waiting about an hour between starters and main meal 2 people . We were advised approx 40 minutes into the wait that one of the mains was no longer available and a substitute would be provided there was some gnocchi improvised from potato mash involved. Service were on top of this though and did remove this item from the bill. So in summary, good elements involved but a couple areas that could do with attention. Beer garden: We went along to the beer garden to catch the rugby world cup final. This was sadly quite a disappointing experience that ended up with the limited attendance clearing out before half time . In short, coverage only started after national anthems. No sound other than via headphones ?? , which didn't work ?! . Pizzas were pretty tasty but the cheese was stringy as a ball of yarn positive with no cutlery or tissues provided negative . And at c. £16 per pizza, felt a bit cheated by the whole experience. The rooms themselves look lovely and I'm sure on a summer's day if you're looking to enjoy some drinks and a bit of food in a lovely setting, the Taybank probably covers exactly what you're looking for! They also run a traditional music session in the main bar on a Thursday evening, which is absolutely worth checking out! But I'm afraid for us, it's unlikely we would rush back for anything other than that."
