"I was really looking forward to Sunday dinner in the Pheasant as I had read some really good reviews. Unfortunately our experience did not even come close to what I was expecting! I ordered the sirloin beef roast, however, I was told there was no beef or pork left, only chicken. Not a great start, although we did arrive at 5pm, so maybe after the Sunday lunch rush, but I would still expect a full roast menu to be available as it’s not that late really! So, I opted for chicken. We also ordered chicken strips and chips for the children and my partner ordered a Camembert and billionaire fries. We were left waiting 45 minutes from ordering to when the dinner finally arrived. This was a challenge with 2 kids under 5 who were both hungry! When the food finally arrived, the kids chicken was so over cooked it was almost inedible. It was tough as old boots. I had to remove most of it to get to a softer bit of chicken that my 1.5 year old could actually chew! My “half a roast chicken” turned out to be a very over cooked chicken breast, again, tough as old boots. Luckily I had some gravy to make it a bit more palatable. However, I was missing the stuffing wrapped in bacon and also I had no bread sauce. Abysmal. I complained and was told that they had ran out of chicken! They should have done the decent thing and just told me that so I could pick something else, not try and fob me off with half a meal and a dry chicken breast and hope I wouldn’t notice! They did take the 3 meals off the bill, but I would have preferred to have had a nice dinner. Instead, I was left disappointed and hungry. I was looking forward to having the crumble too, but we didn’t bother after the fiasco of the mains! Don’t think we’ll be visiting again."

The food and service were fantastic as always, the location is fabulous and the staff are always welcoming. This is our favorite place to eat, always our top choice.

We really enjoyed our meal. The staff were extremely friendly and noting was too much trouble. The only disappointment was that the fish dishes were all unavailable. The food was lovely.

service excellent. presentation of eating beautiful. starter excellent. main course good (we had fishcake) but rather bland. would have liked to have chips and a little salat, but can only choose one or the other. also needed more sauce. ambiente very nice. wine tasty but expensive.

I have in the pheasant many paintings about the years dinated, and the food, the service and the ambiente have remained to be the highest standard. it is not the cheapest restaurant, but every penny worth. myself to revitalize time I have found that the moats will never be rushed and service to be polite and efficient. well done.

Such a shame, the most beautiful pub great location, great interiors, lovely outdoor eating area and lovely attentive staff. Sadly let down by our choice of meal. Large beef salad with 1 quartered hard tomato, cubed cucumber and probably six spinach or lambs lettuce leaves with large chunks of grey meat 17 each honestly no larger than a garnish. I very rarely write a negative review but just so disappointing. Just the wrong choice on the day

We were first timers to the pheasant inn and was really looking forward to it as it looked lovely and the menu was really good,we were told there was no mash which was a part of both our meals only to be replaced with a small cube of dauphinois potatoes,the meals were very underwhelming,then our desserts came out cold which were replaced with two more which were barely luke warm,the staff never once tended to us to ask if everything was ok,a family was on a neighbouring table,after they left,the crayons and paper was left on the floor and were still there by the time we left which was an hour later, overall a very disappointing experience which is such a shame because the pheasant itself is...
