"The Pottery Tearooms on the fringes of nondescript Alfreton in Derbyshire has to be one of the town’s most pleasant spots for coffee, morning or afternoon tea, or a light lunch! We’ve walked and driven past it many times, but only ventured in today for the first time, for a warming coffee on a very chilly frosty morning. What a delightful spot: a bright, spacious and warm tearoom, with a variety of seating areas. There’s nicely spaced tables and chairs, a very homely lounge area with comfortable chairs and sofa, and for the warmer weather, a lovely outside area. The tearoom is a part of a potter’s studio; there was a pottery class taking place in the studio, and the tearoom itself serves as a delightful gallery for the pottery produced in the studio. There were shelves stocked with interesting pieces for purchase, though it all fitted nicely into the overall decor of the tearoom, rather than being a ‘hard sell’ addition to it. Indeed, all the crockery used in the tearoom is produced in the studio. We were warmly welcomed by the hostess; her care of all guests was exemplary (even for a little one, for whom she fetched a high chair, some paper and painting materials and a protective smock). The barista style coffee was excellent; the espresso came (appropriately) in a tiny cup made in the pottery studio. And whilst we didn’t eat, there was a delicious range of cakes, slices, scones and light meals (sandwiches, jacket potatoes and the like) available, along with a very impressive range of exotic tea blends. And for only £3.50 for two well-made coffees, it was a bargain. The tearoom is on the corner of Nottingham Road and Whycliffe Road’ opposite the entrance to Lidl. You’d probably be able to park on Whycliffe Road. It’s worth a visit, and provides a pleasant alternative to some of the nondescript and large chain cafes in Alfreton’s town centre. We’ll definitely be back to explore its food options a little further,"

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea at The Pottery today with friends. Delicious sandwiches (with the crusts cut off), scones with jam and clotted cream, a selection of cakes and a drink. All served on hand-made plates made at the pottery. This was a lovely treat and I would definitely recommend it.

We were fortunate enough to find this gem where myself and two young children were welcomed for an early lunch and a pot of delicious tea. Everything was freshly made, quickly produced and beautifully served on their handmade pottery. We had a little sample of the home made brownie and blondies which were delicious. It's a clean, comfortable and welcoming tea room with friendly staff and had we had time, there was a lovely pottery studio for children and adults to paint our own pottery from a large selection. Easy parking in the road right outside or opposite at Lidl.

"we enjoyed another very pleasant dinner at the Dog’ in pentrich recently. it is a very civilized but relaxed escaping area, and the type of place where people are miles for, for the culinary experience traveling and with good ground. eating is good. the dining room is spacious, contemporary and beautifully furnished with a relaxed ambiente. also the adjacent bar area is very cozy and cozy. we were warmly welcomed and immediately shown on our table. the service was attentive and pleasant, without being overlaid or intrusive. our meals were very pleasant and we enjoyed the selection of things we had (start, head and dessert). However, it seemed to be some unconsistencies with a portion size. with the appetizers the leek and the potato portion was very small a piece laek about two centimeters long filled with cheese and in a sea of sauce to convey the grasp of “more”. the crispy szechuan cauliflower and aubergine, on the other hand, contained large parts of the two components of the teller. similar to the net, the green thai chicken contained three very large portions of huh in different shapes: a large chicken breast as the main component of the Thai chicken shell, accompanied by a huge serving of shredded chicken in rice, and a huge Bao beer filled with a large piece of baked chicken. while the various components were delicious, it was just chicken overload, almost like three main dishes as one, and much too much. the same applies to the puddings we have chosen. the dog inn trifle was a huge bowl with lemon-rossel sponge, with white chocolate-creuzard, and celestial gel and sorbet. the yorkshire rhubarb cheesecake, on the other hand, was a very small roll of cheesecake with a puppy game of rhubarb sorbet and a few pieces of poached rhubarb. our meals were certainly delicious, and we enjoyed them. the hanger steak was cooked nicely after a discussion about it; it was clearly stated on the menu that the hanger steak was ‘Served ‘Pink or well Done’, but we were informed that it could not be ordered well. which condition is then on the menu? the dog is worth looking. it is in the beautiful and historical village pentrich, on the b1016 between the towns ripley and alfreton in derbyshire. we're coming back."
