"I was extremely disappointed with my overall experience at this restaurant. After reading good reviews online, I was excited to visit another great pub restaurant. However, the service was poor with a very slow order taking process and almost an hour wait for our main course. There was no fish available and the tomato and basil soup, which I ordered, had chili in it - to which I am allergic. Although the steak pies were okay, the reason for the delay was that they had to make more pastry for the top, which I found to be unacceptable given the amount of time they had. I can make pastry in less than an hour myself! If you feel inclined to visit this restaurant, go ahead, but unfortunately, I cannot recommend the food, service, or ambiance."

I would have left a review if this restaurant had been open when we arrived for our reservation. We got there over 10 minutes early only to find the restaurant closed, so we were unable to have a meal.

"I’ve been coming to this restaurant now for well over a decade and it’s still my one and only reason for visiting Halifax. The food is always top quality, portions are generous and really good value for money. But more than that is the experience Pajaree herself provides. Always warm and friendly, cares for her customers and never forgets you. Her partner Philip is lovely too and always great to have a catch up with. We had mixed starters, a main each, egg fired rice and a pork omelette all washed down with a lovely bottle of Shiraz and the whole lot cost less than £55. "We ate here twice. Well, almost. Our first visit was an extraordinary culinary experience, from welcome, to food, to service. We had the chicken liver parfait with Pedro Ximenez, hazelnut, and toasted brioche which was a symphony of flavours, a luxurious start to an unforgettable meal. Tasted out of this world! The 10oz salt-aged sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, offering a juicy and robust taste that satisfied every carnivorous craving. The pork loin, accompanied by BBQ courgette, basil, crackling, and an apple vinegar sauce, was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes that left me in awe. The sausage and courgette roll added a delightful twist to the dish. The black truffle cauliflower cheese was a decadent side, elevating a classic comfort food to new heights. And for dessert, the banana panna cotta with miso, caramel, and peanut was a creative masterpiece, ending the meal on a sweet note. Shibden Mill Inn truly delivered an exquisite dining experience, with each dish showcasing the chef's culinary artistry. It's a place where food becomes an unforgettable adventure for the senses. Sadly, after being so excited to visit a second time, we were let down by extraordinarily slow and almost uninterested service so we had our starter, a drink and left. Apart from that, the Michelin star food alone is well worth a visit!"

"Must have been stuck in traffic next to this for long enough for Google to think I'd been in for a bite to eat! It was actually over a year ago we visited here, as a group, we were really well looked after and everyone's order was spot on with no issues (there were 18ish of us so that is not always a given). Really nice atmosphere, staff friendly and helpful, available without hovering. I had a Calzone, was cooked perfectly, the filling was nice but found it a little on the bland side overall. Was reasonably well priced if you compare prices to current takeaway restaurant prices where the quality is far inferior. Keep looking for an opportunity to go back."

Beautiful rhubarb vodka bundle which was perfect with the meal. Small touches like flowers and candles that made it all the more special. Excellent value For money. The quality was awesome ???? "I did not enjoy the food at all. I ordered a chicken dish and it was terrible - the meat was really chewy and the sauce had a overwhelming garlic flavor. The drinks were overpriced; £4.50 for an appletizer. The service, however, was okay. I will not be returning to this restaurant."
