"What a fabulous venue to say our final farewell to our Mom, we had the most wonderful time celebrating moms life in the way she was remembered as Nanny Biscuit. Becky, Ashleigh and the staff were just wonderful in their understanding and they did us and our mom proud. The tables were set and our afternoon teas were just perfect for us to reflect mom. The sandwiches and cakes delicious with thought and attention, the coal fire was lit and we felt relaxed and all commented on what a wonderful send off. Nothing is too much for Becky and all, its a must to see, tucked away on the West Platform and takes you back to an era of time gone by. We cannot thank you enough and highly recommend a visit here and enjoy all there is to offer. Val Rose"

Booked for afternoon tea for friends birthday after having a good experience here for a drink and cake after a walk. We were really pleased with our afternoon tea. A great selection of sandwiches and cake with plenty of tea! The food was fresh and tasty! Will definitely book again for afternoon tea as well as our usual visits.

My family and I visited this restaurant on Father's Day afternoon and it was perfect. The sandwiches and cakes were both delicious and there was plenty to go around. The staff were very friendly and attentive, even giving us boxes to take home the leftovers. We had a great time enjoying our afternoon tea and can't wait to come back soon.

I booked an afternoon tea for a treat for a bride to be and her mom. I asked if I could take a few bits for the table and when I arrived it was all beautifully laid out for us. The afternoon tea was delicious and we even had enough to bring some home to enjoy later. I would highly recommend such a friendly place. Thank you for making it special. Visualizza piatti

I attended a wake for my best friends mum. We all had afternoon tea. The Tea Rooms, was an ideal setting. The afternoon tea was presented beautifully. The atmosphere was warm cosy and friendly. Definitely worth a visit if you are walking over at chasewater. Or if you want to meet up with family and friends for a relaxing chat, a cuppa and a bite to eat. ,

We visit the sidings tea room a few times every week. Breakfasts are spot on every time, freshly cooked to order but worth the wait. Nothing is too much to ask, girls are polite and always happy to help but Becky is the heart and soul of this little tea room, always smiling and always thanks us for our custom. Happy to be supporting such a fantastic small business and we always recommend it to friends.

The restaurant has pleasant staff and good service, but the afternoon tea only met our expectations and did not surpass them. The seating was not very comfortable, so we did not stay long. Most of the cakes were dry and uninteresting, but the scones were excellent and worth returning for. We plan to come back for a cream tea instead. The sandwiches were large, well-filled, and the tea was good, making the overall expense reasonable. Visualizza piatti

Following my Mom's funeral, we gathered to celebrate her life at this wonderful Tearoom. The tables were all set out beautifully, pretty tablecloths and vintage teasets. Perfect to remember my Mom, who always prepared a huge amount of tea and biscuits for any visitors. The sandwiches and home made cakes were delicious and wonderfully displayed. The staff were lovely, polite/respectful and very friendly, Special mention to Becky for her organisation. I would recommend this venue to anyone looking to gather for an occasion, or just to pop in for a drink and food. It' perfect.

A group of friends and I recently visited this restaurant for afternoon tea, based on a recommendation from one of our group who had been before. We have tried afternoon tea at several places, but this was definitely the best experience we've had. The sandwiches were fresh, the cakes were delicious (especially the carrot cake), and the scones were fluffy and tasty. Despite the tea room being busy and the staff being rushed off their feet, they remained polite and made us feel welcome. The prices were very reasonable for the quality of food we received. We will definitely be returning soon!

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."

"6 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 children went here for my mom's birthday meal. Mom chose the place as she's been here before. I wasn't sure what to expect from her description so I checked on here before leaving work. I have never seen so many 5 star reviews and hoped it lived up to the hype. We arrived at 7:30pm after driving through a pleasant housing estate. The premises are located on the ground floor of a community centre, next to the gym. The illuminated GIOS sign was the only clue. Upon entering, we saw 4 other tables were occupied, with 12-14 other patrons. The interior decor was unusual, with countless pieces of artwork, movie posters, and unusual items with an Italian theme. The tables and chairs are all different shapes and sizes, but this just adds to the charm of the place. Within a minute, Gio emerged from the kitchen with a warm welcome. We sat down and opened the drinks we had bought with us, the place is not licenced. Soon, we had ordered the taster menu for the adults and the youngsters had pizza. First we had a lovely, fresh vegetable soup, with cold meats, a crustless quiche and lovely warm bread. Not long after, Gio, who was the only waiter, came out with the kids pizzas. Freshly made and delicious, and about 12 of thin crust. Then he bought out 2 large lasagne, 2 large plates of a pasta dish with courgette, 2 plates of plain chicken thighs and breast on a salad with crispy chicken skin, 2 plates of another spicier chicken with skin, on a bed of delicious herby potatoes, and an Italian casserole with sausage and meatballs in a tomato sauce. Food was plentiful and delicious. Gio packed the leftovers up as there was a lot of food, all made fresh in the premises. We then had a chat as Gio served everyone else, without looking stressed and being so friendly and polite with everyone. He also gives a carafe of water and a carafe of juice to each table. Italian music playing, he then produced a dessert with was like a warm brownie, with thick, clotted cream, a fruity drizzle and an amaratto biscotti on top. The ladies and gents are located next door where you walk through a healing centre, with chairs creating a walkway to keep you from the various equipment. As I said, the kitchen and restaurant is in a shared community centre. I was told profits go to local homeless, and it's clear from the decoration that Gio does a lot for local charities. Mom picked up the bill of £13.50 a head (massive value) and Gio said the kids were only a fiver, but mom asked him to keep the rest which he eventually did after some persuasion. When the main rustic Italian tasters were served, Gio also served two more fresh pizzas at no cost, which he says they always do for larger groups. I have plenty of leftovers to take to work today, and we all left full after the kids plated the piano and Gio and an older customer danced in the restaurant. Three pots of fresh coffee to finish. A lovely place, beautiful fresh food, amazing value and it serves the local community. Great job, Gio!"
