"Came for a quick meal out with my friend. We’re seated instantly but staff stood round chatting and we were just left for ages before actually being waited on. Got our food which was okay but the staff member working was full on and rude. She checked regularly on every table to see how they were but continued to ignore us. She then proceeded to check a table and when asking if they wanted the bill lent over myself and my friends table which was unappreciated whilst we were trying to enjoy our food. She then collected plates and came and said “right let’s take those plates then” before even asking how things were, let alone if we were actually finished considering there was still food on the plates!!! She attended to every table bar ours, wasn’t hard to miss as we were centred in the middle of the restaurant. It’s staff like this that make the experience poor. Utterly dissapointed"

This restaurant is definitely worth a visit and I will be returning. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is family friendly. Overall, a great place to dine.

Food good, staff friendly, toilets very poor. My wife said she couldn’t move in the ladies it’s so cramped and the gents was in desperate need of updating. Old and smelly.

As previous reviews have mentioned...dirty, run-down, grubby, disgusting toilets, mediocre food and desperately needing a refurb. I understand that the planned one has been delayed, so I would give it a miss until its finished.

Venue could do with a tidy up outside. Waiting staff could be a bit more friendlier. Trainee chef was friendly and very apologetic for having no turkey left. Inside could do with a revamp. Food was almost cold, potatoes hard, soft drink was flat. We've definitely been to better Toby carverys. Visualizza piatti

We visited this restaurant for the carvery. It was very busy because they had a 50% off deal for Black Friday. Some of the staff appeared stressed and tired, but all of them were nice and polite. We were seated in Martin's section. He was a standout! He provided great conversation and was also funny. He is a valuable asset to your establishment. We will bypass the other two Toby Carveries to come back to your restaurant for his excellent service. The food was delicious. Thank you.

We were expecting a newly refurbished restaurant but in fact it's still the same old, tired place. The food was probably the worst I've ever had at a Toby carvery. There was barely any turkey meat left to carve and what I received was chewy and tasteless. Instead of onions in gravy there were tasteless dumplings, the peas were hard and the cabbage looked as if it had been there for days, it was so dried out. The only redeeming item was the roast potatoes. No more visits there for us, we'll go to Poole next time.

The carpets are thread bare and held together with tape, the walls and woodwork are filthy (no excuse for that) and the odour was not pleasant. Turkey was fine, as were the roast potatoes. The peas were like bullets, the cabbage was so dried up and the cauliflower soggy. All the veg was tasteless. Had been sent a voucher to entice us in, it was just about worth the one free meal. The positives were: the greeter, the young lad carving who was chatty and friendly and the waitress who served us, I didn't catch her name but she was an Irish lady quite short. She made the experience a bit nicer. Visualizza piatti

I made a reservation for breakfast at 10:30, but upon arrival, I was informed that they had run out of eggs. I suggested going to the Tesco across the road to get some, but they couldn't accommodate that. We were asked if we still wanted to eat, so we decided to stay since there weren't many other options at that time. The tomatoes were chopped instead of whole, and they only had white bread for toast with no brown available. The toaster either undercooked the bread or burnt it if you put it in twice. It wasn't a great experience, especially since we were there to celebrate a friend's birthday.

On holiday in the New Forest we visited a few 'gastro ' pubs for lunch and dinner, overpriced meals where one gets 'jus ' instead of gravy. Having grown tired of being ripped off there was only one thing for it..........a visit to Toby! We were not disappointed, the 18 members of the family trooped down to Bournemouth for the best lunch we 'd had all week. As an Army Veteran and with NHS and Met Police Blue Light card holder members of the family, we all enjoyed an excellent meal at a discounted price. The grub was just as Mum would cook, good wholesome food, not mucked about with and topped off with gravy! The staff were wonderful, friendly and efficient, which made it a great outing for al...

"We had called-here for drinks during a previous visit to Bournemouth. We were impressed with the wine we drank, and the food that we saw served to other customers. So, today was the realisation of a promise that we made-to-ourselves to revisit and, this time, dine! We were a few-minutes early for our 19:30 reservation having allowed too-much time for our half-a-mile walk from our hotel. The restaurant was not busy, and there were scant customers during our 2½ hour stay. There was only one, very pleasant, member of staff in the bar/dining area. We had assumed he was the Manager, and he did everything: menus, drinks, food orders, food service, and payment. He did this pleasantly with good humour, plus impressive efficiency and knowledge. The food here is principally ‘Sharing Boards’ but also available were smaller (snack) servings of Artisan Cheese and Charcuterie and other “Nibbles”. We chose an ‘Ultimate Board’ (intended for two people sharing and costing £36.95 in total). Within this price you select four types of charcuterie plus four types of cheese to complete the board. Drinks: we started with a 175ml glass of “Martin Codax Albariño” for each of us. The extensive and impressive wine list offers a good selection available by the 175 or 250ml glass: 6 white wines, 3 rosé wines, 9 red wines, 3 sparkling wines and 9 aperitif/digestif wines. The Albariño was very much enjoyed, whist we decided which bottle of wine we would have with our meal. After much thought we chose a bottle of Bin 31 ‘Laibach (Sur Lie) Stellenbosch’; a white wine from what is a great wine-producing region in South Africa. This was superbly delicate and gently flavoured; with the very slight effervescence from the ‘Sur Lie’ fermentation method (fermentation on the lees). We know this method well from Sur Lie Muscadet wines, from the Sèvre-et-Maine region in France. With our wine chosen, we concentrated on the charcuterie and fromage that we would like with our ‘Ultimate Board’. There was much debate between us, but eventually: Our choices of charcuterie were: Salami Milano: with a perfumed scent that was such a delight. Pâté: quite fine but rich and flavoursome. Venison Salami: surprising and just superb. Smoked Pancetta: we loved this delicately smoked pork belly which was served in the thinnest slices imaginable. The cheese was far more difficult to choose: A Cheddar was a no-brainer and it was good; however we have ‘Vintage’ Cheddar at home (aged for 36-60 months); so the Cheddar here was a bit tame for our tastes. Oak Smoked Lincolnshire Poacher: this was very disappointing as half of the piece was totally inedible rind, and the rest was almost impossible to cut with the cheese-knife provided. I brought this to the attention of the Manager this was exchanged with more of the Cheddar. Northern Blue: good and creamy and appreciably tangy. We had another cheese which was firm and good eating, but we cannot recall it’s name (that’s our fail then). To be honest, and sadly, we found the cheese to be not anywhere as good as the charcuterie, we like mostly hard, or at least firm cheese, with strong flavours. Brie, Camembert and other soft cheeses rarely feature at our home (the somewhat explains our choices). The board was loaded with extra ingredients: a good selection of salad and fruit: cream cheese stuffed cherry tomatoes, lovely crunchy astringent cornichon, fresh grapes and pitted olives. There was also a pot of hummus, onion relish, cheese crackers, and a basket of bread (the latter of which we ordered a second). The meal was still a very favourable experience; made better by the extra cornichon provided. Just because I said how much I loved the texture and flavour of these wonderful ‘little gherkins’. After our board we were quite replete and there was no-way we could have managed a dessert, but an extra glass of Viognier for my Partner, and a wonderful 10-year-old Tawny Port for myself, finished-off the meal splendidly."

"WOW! What can we say!? Chris Katie catered lunch at our beautiful outdoor wedding at Moonacre, Sturminster Marshall. They had a fantastic layout and lots of menu options available several different burgers, wieners fries! They absolutely smashed the service and excelled at feeding a few more than expected too! They made us a gorgeous little personalised menu also which we thought was such a nice touch! Everyone couldn’t stop talking about how amazing their food was even those who would never normally consider vegan options were blown away at how great everything tasted! They managed to positively influence even the most stubborn meat eaters of our guests to realise that they don’t need to miss out on flavour when choosing vegan options! That’s a huge win in our eyes! A couple of people even said it was the first ever vegan food they’d tried and they couldn’t get over how amazing it was! We told our guests about the Mighty Wieners restaurant in Bournemouth and will be bringing people back for more as they couldn’t wait to try more options! The day was such a huge success and Chris Katie did such an incredible job! We can’t recommend them enough, for food at their restaurant and wedding events catering! Vegetarian options: Excellent vegetarian and vegan options! Dietary restrictions: Served gluten free options! Kid friendliness: Excellent service friendly, warm and when above and beyond! Wheelchair accessibility: Perfect for full accessibility!"
