"On a day trip to Littlehampton we stopped here for lunch. I'd seen the overall rating was good and but when we arrived it was a little disappointing. We went into the members bar without realising but they explained we needed to be in the next room and that at first felt like walking into a closed function room with a family sorting a table. Things changed totally from there where we were greeted warmly and sat at a table by the window. We were the only people in the restaurant which worried me a bit. I had no need to worry though, service was amazing, friendly but didn't hover so although we were the only ones there it didn't really feel like the spotlight was on us and the food was absolutely excellent. The children had standard nuggets/ fish fingers and chips. It didn't come out boiling hot which I liked as the children could tuck in right away. Us two adults had steak and ale pie and chips and the Cajun salad. One melon starter too. We had requested all that to arrive at the same time as we had already ordered the children's food before ordering anything else and the melon was to be their dessert. The steak and ale pie was one of the best we've tasted and so fresh with a really generous filling and beautiful pastry. The salad, fresh again and with a lovely dressing. The melon was great and all dishes were well presented. Nothing was too much trouble and they made the children feel very welcome. Prices are reasonable and I'll definitely go back."

Really good home-cooked food, delivered hot and fresh. Love the cheese and ham pancakes starter and mains are delicious.

Delicious food and very friendly staff. Family run restaurant so not your fast food chain, worth the wait. Don't miss their pancakes, finger licking good!

We had a lovely lunch, everything cooked and presented beautifully. Very friendly, helpful staff, family run for the last 44 years! The gift of a potted plant for every lady dining was a very nice touch. We will return.

Sadly was unable to attend News Year's Eve as planned, as hubby had tested positive for Covid. Instead we had our meal delivered which was on time, hot and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed by both of us. Thank you. This is not our first time at The Vardar and we would recommend it to anyone. Rachel Chris Visualizza piatti

Slow service, mediocre food, staff smoking and blocking the entrance when we needed to go home. Also their car park was full, but only 3 tables inside had customers. Staff taking all the parking spaces? This restaurant has been family owned for 40 years. We had hoped for so much more. We were a party of 4 and not one of us was pleased with our meal. We obviously won’t be going back.

Cannot recommend this restaurant enough, we have been several times before but never for a Christmas lunch. The food was excellent and plentiful I personally did not like the soup, although everybody else said it was lovelly, and I was offered the choice of pate or melon which was not on the menu! The service was unbelievable, especially with so many people to serve and all the staff were very friendly. I cannot recommend the Vardar highly enough.

We had a lovely family meal last night to celebrate our eldest sons birthday. The staff are so friendly and attentive. We had the two sharing platters to start which were amazing plenty for 6 adults . They brought the children's meals as soon as they were ready which was great. All our mains arrived together and all plates cleared great menu choices something for everyone. This restaurant is a little treasure hidden in Littlehampton . Thank you for a lovely evening . Well if you haven't been to have an evening meal at The Vardar then you don't know what you're missing. Fantastic service with smiles and courtesy like years ago. The meal was perfection and I don't say that easily! Huge rib with mash, mushroom sauce or homemade gravy and hot fresh vegetables . The presentation was second to none and bordering on cordon bleu! Desserts were delicious as was the lemon sorbet. Children had a lovely choice and nice wine too. Word needs to get out that this is the place to eat in Littlehampton and indeed West Sussex . Can't praise it enough Liz

We went to the Littlehampton beach for the day, but then wanted to have a proper dinner before going back home. We decided to go to Vardar Restaurant, which is very close to the East beach. We have visited this restaurant before and wanted to go there for our dinner and try some of their specialities it was barbeque/grill that day. I must admit it was not a bad decision, because the food was delicious, (portions were generous) and the children ate well too. We were sitting in the garden, and there were other families with children playing around. Lovely atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

"Went with my partner who’d been here a good few years before and had fond memories of it. It’s changed! I was told on the phone it was advisable to book, I have no idea why as it was practically empty. We were pretty much ignored when we got there by an older woman behind the bar but hoped it would get better. The elderly woman on another table went off to find her own pepper so I should’ve known then. We ordered drinks and one pint of flat coke later we asked to send it back, I was told it was indeed real Coke by the sullen looking waitress wearing cycling shorts. She then admitted it wasn’t real Coke and did he want a bottle of that. We were waiting so long for our food that dirty glasses were accumulating on the table and at one point we put them up on the window sill. Then noticed a dirty big stain on the table cloth and a candle holder with old wax in but no candle left there on the table. We asked how much longer the food was going to be as we both had work in the morning and it turned upafter 60 minutes and I wish we’d have left 20 minutes earlier when we’d thought of doing so. When it came it was a shock to see the £27 sirloin steak. Over priced and average at best. We had to ask the waitress ‘can you please take all these dirty glasses while we eat?’ The meal was already ruined and our evening out spoiled not by the food but by the shoddy way we were treated from start to finish. Even the lemon had to be sent back! No juice, fell away from the skin into mush so god knows how long that’d been there. Apparently she needed to tell the chef but brought back more of the same. We had to quibble the bill afterwards as the pint of flat cola syrup sent back was still on there. The manageress or whatever her job title is should be embarrassed at how customers are treated but unfortunately it was obvious she didn’t care and no apology given and she treated us exactly the same. If o was on my own I wouldn’t have paid so they’re lucky we did. It was one thing after another. We came home feeling like we’d been taken advantage of and I wish I’d said more at the time. I don’t usually leave bad reviews, I chalk it up to experience and move on so you can imagine how bad it was. If you like fawlty towers you may enjoy this farce but we’ll put this down to one place we’ll never go back to and will NEVER recommend. Joke of a place. What a shame."
