"A proper pub. We stopped by for a mid-afternoon pint whilst trying to walk off some of our excessive lunch at The Suffield. A smattering of locals were propping up the bar on a Monday, the fire was blazing, it was comfortable and there was a good range of ale on handpull. All very satisfying."

We have been to the Vernon Arms a few times for drinks, but this was our first time trying their food. The Sunday roast was delicious, and the hazelnut and chocolate bread and butter pudding was absolutely incredible. The landlady and her staff were very friendly and helpful.

The Vernon is an excellent pub with friendly and helpful staff. The menu offers a good variety of options at reasonable prices. I can't find any faults with this pub. The main room has a roaring fire, adding to the cozy atmosphere. I would give it a perfect 10 out of 10 rating.
