Village Pub Grill Village Warrington

Used to be a proper restaurant with a separate bar. Now been mashed together and in trying to be everything does nothing well. Average pub menu in a brightly lit environment doesn’t make for any intimacy. A totally forgettable experience

terrible, booked a table online and when we arrived, it was full as the game was up. we said our reserved sign had been removed from someone. 45 minutes later sitting for best! Pub food and twice the price. this was an experience that came here earlier, but now feels like an expensive sportable. will not come back.

Although the food was very nice, we had reserved a table and when we arrived it was close to the bar. We were mid way through our meal when a large party arrived and literally gathered around us putting things on our table passing drinks over us. I was furious as it was our Anniversary we were not just there for a few drinks in a bar. It totally ruined our evening so instead of staying in the restaurant we went back to our room. It was very disappointing.

We stayed here about 3 years ago had a pleasant experience in the restaurant. It has now changed to more of a sport's bar which serves food. Nobody came to take our order I couldn't get served at the bar so I went found a staff member in the hotel reception area for help. Eventually a waitress appeared we ordered our food. We then ordered a bottle of house white only to be told they had sold out!! Food was lovely, so compliments to the chef, but service awful. This is run as a bar which sells food, not a restaurant.

I would recommend for the general menu and for watching the footbal and/or sports, we however where there for the Sunday carvery, the new format is horrible as are the newish selection of starters, unless you like oily fish or avocado, also the carvery buffet is gone, and now replaced with options of the menu, and the desert selection was terrible, the ice cream station has disappeared much to the kids disappointment, along with all that the cost has now increased, wont bother with the village as a Sunday destination going forward.

The village has really gone downhill since last time i was there, now looks and feels like one of the old Pontins holiday camp restaurants, except the food was better at Pontins. The food was awful, most of the starters were fish and left out on a table in the heat and the soup was coloured water with salt added to taste. The main meal was just as bad the meat was covered in fat and the Yorkshire pudding was like a hard biscuit and for sweet you had the choice of a croissant or muffin. Service was very slow also and there didn't seem to be any supervisor around. For the prices they charge you can get far better at many other places, so won't be going there again.

Overall disappointing, website said it would be traditional Sunday roast so we booked a table. However we arrived to a noisy pub full of Liverpool fans watching football, our booking was acknowledged but no table was ready and we were led to a sticky messy table with mess on the floor too. We were further let down when told they weren’t serving Sunday roast! Service was basic, several members of staff but they looked tired and hassled, so it took a while to be served at the bar. We understand it’s now more of a sports bar but it would be nice to have an area that appeals to a broader customer base and not just noisy football fans, as it was difficult to enjoy our dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at The Village, everything was good, however we had huge problems booking a table. There was no answer on the phone number provided, and the number provided on the booking confirmation was invalid! We could only book online for 1, 2, 3 or 4 people, but not for 5 as we wanted. We booked for 4 then had to go there to request adding one, only to find out that we were the only booking they had anyway! Apparently the phone is in the office which is neither manned, or heard, when the restaurant is open. I’m afraid The Village are going to lose a lot of business if they don’t put this right quickly.
