The restaurant offers good food with a decent vegetarian selection. The price for a lunch for two, including coffee afterwards, was surprisingly inexpensive. The interior is nice, with Chinese lanterns hanging from the ceiling, however they may be a bit low for taller individuals.

I went after zen noodle bar, based on online recordings. I thought eating was very good, really hot and freshly cooked. the service was friendly and the entire meal was very valuable. the atmosphere and some of the details and decoration in the restaurant. were however something missing.

I go there every time (almost) that I go to Chelmsford. The quality of the food has remained very high, the staff are friendly, the prices are always reasonable. My favourite is the seafood laksa, and crispy spiced squid, but I suspect that if you like Chinese/Singaporean/Malaysian cuisine in general, you will not be disappointed. As we arrived to an almost empty restaurant, the waiter pointed to a table without greeting us. He then walked over and threw a couple of menus onto the table again without a word being spoken or eye contact being made. I asked him...if he speaks, to which he responded sometimes'. What an awful welcome. No wonder they're nearly empty on a Saturday lunchtime. We left (without the waiter even looking over) and went to a nearby Turkish restaurant where the welcome and service were excellent (great food too).

Zen has always been one of our go to places for lunch in Chelmsford but the last two visits have been extremely disappointing. When we arrived a couple of weeks ago the place was half empty at 12:30 but we were advised there was a...twenty minute wait. It was unclear whether this was for a table (but they were half empty or for food as no further explanation was forthcoming save for to usher us out of the restaurant. Today, in view of the experience outlined above we booked a table. We arrived on time and the restaurant was fairly busy but again, several empty tables. This time we were told there was a half hour wait and when I pointed out we had booked I was told that wasn't good enough as...

zen noodle bar in the heart of chelmsford city has a relaxed atmosphere in a restaurant that is clean and elegant. the personal was friendly and welcoming, and there was a busy trade through the door, considering that it was lunch and drizzly. the restaurant runs a good lunch break with two dresses for £9.95 I was in many restaurants before these offers offer and most of the time the deal is restriktiw or the portion sizes are small not here. despite the reasonable price, I found the teller sizes to be what I would consider a full size meal.
