Positives - large portions of good quality food. Negatives - not a great selection for vegetarians. Baked potatoes only. But apart from pizzerias that holds true for most eateries in Reit im Winkl.

A way forward: The service is unbeatable. The lady who served our table was mega friendly and on Zack. However, the location is a bit high price Even if the food has tasted well: 1 plate of whirlpool (stone mushrooms) in cream sauce with band noodles is quite proudly offered at 19.50 EUR. The napkins already make it clear that something special is conjured here with a lot of attention to the profession and to detail. And so is it! Everything with something, great ingredients. Surprisingly the range of very tasty food choices: meat, fish, supplements ... A French onion soup prepared so perfectly is no longer often found elsewhere. The best I've ever eaten. Thanks to the friendly hospitality!

We were here late August 2016. Main reason for coming was the chance to dine outdoors. Food was at best average. My breast of turkey (Putenbrust) was ok but the sauce tasted as though it was ready-made and accordingly dull. The pommes frites were certainly out of the freezer and plenty of other restaurants can do a better job in this respect. Service was very slow, though not unfriendly. On a positive note: the local beer was good.

Zum Eichhof is a small Gasthaus a short stroll from the heart of the village that caters to a contented group of locals and travelers. We were the sole American diners the evening we visited, which is apparently typical. Dishes on offer are typical of the region, but the quality of the cooking is very high. Our food was fresh- tasting, well-seasoned, and served piping hot. Prices are more than reasonable. My filet of trout with almonds and browned butter was delicious; it was a copious portion, perfectly cooked, served with potatoes and a large leaf salad composed of multiple types of lettuce.The cost?
