"I am well overdue writing this review which has been hanging over me as Dolce Vita went the extra, extra mile for us and hosted the best hen party for my friend! I 'm sure as many people planning hens have come across it is hard booking a private venue/area to have dinner for a price per head and this can get tricky if people understandably need to pull out etc and the price goes up for everyone (and so on and so on. Also, a base cost to hire is often very expensive!! Anyway, I called Dolce Vita to enquire that if we were to arrive late enough on a Saturday, we might be able to hire an area of the restaurant, and also asked if we could bring a drag queen to host! I thought this was a massive long shot, but nothing ventured, nothing gained! To my surprise, the lady I spoke with was very open to the idea and also seemed excited by the prospect! She agreed to a set menu price per head which included a starter and main each and shot of lemoncello and this was very reasonable. She understood that our numbers may change slightly and within reason in the run up, and we locked it all in the week before. The food and drinks were DELICIOUS! Great portions and very reasonably priced, also lots of options for our vegan and gluten free guests. Our drag host then arrived (who was AMAZING and we did a lot of terrible dancing and even worse singing. The staff not only tolerated us but also sang and danced along for some of it which was really fun! They were also very understanding when our 'one more song ' turned into 3.... "

"We visited as a diverse group from a local specialist resource base attached to a high school. We had been learning about Ramadan and Eid and wanted a great experience to remember so a small group of staff and learners with a range of additional needs visited to sample a variety of dishes. We were served by a lovely and attentive staff member, Nihal, who ensured that everyone had what they needed. He also answered our learners ' questions about fasting and celebrating Eid. As we had contacted the restaurant before our visit our food was quick to arrive at the table. As it was lunchtime- we arrived at 12:30- on a Thursday, we were the only diners and there was plenty of space for all ten of us to sit together. For some of our learners it was their first time tasting curry and between us we managed to consume three different types of curry along with rice, chips, naan bread and poppadoms. As well as the opportunity to try some new foods and learn about a different culture, visiting Salkaara allowed our learners to work on developing their independence and social skills in an unfamiliar environment. We had pre-ordered food on a set budget so can 't comment on the wider menu or pricing, but what we had was delicious and enjoyed by all. We asked our staff and learners for their highlights of the experience: Food was good The curry was nice The curry tasted delicious, and the poppadoms. The food was delicious Poppadoms are great Poppadoms were good Recommend sampling the peshwari naan Excellent service from an attentive waiter Very very polite guy with great willpower at the end of Ramadan"

"This was our first visit to the Pettigrew Tea Rooms. We had a gift of a voucher for Afternoon Tea for Two. What a brilliant gift that was! We couldn't fault anything! Service was prompt and friendly, The menu was explained, on how to choose which sandwiches we would like, although the printed menu was quite clear, choose any four sandwich fillings and which bread you would like, choose fruit, or plain scones and which drink we would like. Later, we were asked to choose which cake we would like. We were also asked if we had any allergies that they should be aware of. The sandwiches were well filled and delicious, The scones were still warm and went down well with the clotted cream and jam and berries. There were also Petit Fours and shortbread biscuits to round that course off. We chose Darjeeling tea as our drink, as it is a favourite of ours and it came freshly brewed in two pots, which held enough for 3 cups each. We prefer our tea without milk, so those that have milk, would likely get 4 cups each. We both chose the option of a glass of Cava £7.50 PP). A nice start to the occasion. All this was followed by Cake. We were full, but it had to be done Lemon Drizzle for me and Coffee Mocha Cake for my wife. Ohhh, they were really, really nice. With each serving we were asked if our food was OK Yes it was! Having read the poor reviews, I find it difficult to equate their experience with ours. It's like others had visited a different tea room! Loads of tea leaves in the pot too! Well done Pettigrew Tea Rooms, will will return!"
