"When you see a restaurant called the Grill House, your brain conjures up meals consisting of steak and various other meats. Not the case here! My husband is vegetarian and we stumbled across this restaurant by accident. After reading the menu, we were very pleasantly surprised. A great choice of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes, with a middle eastern theme, some of which are Middle Eastern. My husband ordered a falafel wrap and I ordered a batata harra wrap (potato) both were very tasty and much bigger portion sizes than we expected. We also ordered a portion of fries each which we struggled to eat one between us would have been plenty. What we weren't expecting was the lentil soup to start, compliments of the house, which was very tasty. The service was very good, the menu varied it was excellent value for money and we will definitely be going back."

"The food at The White Horse is consistently delicious, with a variety of vegan options that cater to everyone. The only issue we encountered was the lack of milk alternatives for our tea and coffee after the meal. Nonetheless, the food was so enjoyable that we have returned multiple times, and it has always been incredibly tasty."

"I haven 't left any reviews a while, but after visiting this place I was completely blown away and compelled to share with you. As a former student, I hadn 't been to Loughborough in ages so I wandered up and down the high street, in search of something exciting and took a chance on this place. It was a freezing and dark Tuesday night, with no students around so I didnt want to be the only one inside. The cafe is just around the corner from the mobile stall. Inside there were a few tables full and a lovely atmosphere with people eating and sipping coffee and talking with the owners. This is my ideal setting! And then the food. The food! I 'd only had 'real ' Greek food maybe once before in my life and I 'm telling you, if you haven 't tried it get down here immediately. It simply doesn 't compare to the average kebabs you find on the high street. I had the chicken yeeros which is essentially chicken doner meat with fries, salad and homemade tzatziki and it was just out of this world. You just know when you go in a place and they are meticulous about cooking everything from scratch and everything neat and tidy. So if I find myself in Loughborough again, I will be back!"

"I visited the pub with my child who chose it because it had a bouncy castle in Hathern. Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the experience. I ordered food at the bar while my friend stayed with our children at the table where we were given menus. I placed my order first, but my friend was told she would have to wait for an hour. The staff did not communicate this wait time beforehand, causing our party to be separated. The food I received was frozen and overpriced. The starters I ordered were small and unappetizing, not freshly made. The staff was unfriendly and unhelpful. When we ordered desserts, we requested them to be brought to the garden, which again seemed like a lot to ask for. Despite these issues, my son enjoyed his food, the bouncy castle, and play equipment in the garden. However, we had to leave quickly as the garden started smelling of weed."

"Loughborough University is in the top five of our youngest's choices. We arrived a little early to look around Lougborough itself before heading to the campus based uni. It's hard when you're in a place you have never been and see a variety of eateries with no prior planning in front of you, to choose from. We didn't want a greasy spoon, or haute cuisine and as we looked around we saw the A board outside Goodliffe's on Church Gate which looked like a possibility. The menu is also displayed outside the door and as we hovered over an unsuspecting ladies shoulder, she noticed us and recommended it highly. We took her recommendation and entered, the staff were young ladies, probably students themselves, all very pleasant, happy and jolly, they looked genuinely happy to be there which is always a good sign. Hubby had Morrocan mint and lamb koftas, Littlest Foodie had the roasted sweet potato and red pepper salad with avocado, beetroot hummus, rocket, toasted pumpkin seeds, lemon dressing . I didn't really fancy anything, no fault of Goodliffe's I may hasten to add, but I can never say no to cheese so I ordered the cheese board (dessert menu) and a side of garlic ciabatta. I'm glad I did, I was able to pick the bits I wanted and Hubby finished the rest win win! The only thing I would suggest is maybe a soft cheese like Brie instead of two hard cheeses and stilton.Needless to say if Loughborough Uni is the chosen one' we will be visiting Goodliffe's again :"

"We called in by chance as we were passing through and saw the sign for brunch. The breakfast was outstanding in fact the best we have had anywhere and we do tend to go out weekly for breakfast. The pub is cosy with a log burner going which really added to the feel of the place. We had a full English with xtras but tbh we didn't need it as the breakfast was more than enough but we forced it down as it was too good to leave!! We will definately go back there on a regular basis and the next to try is the Sunday roast which has been recommended and if it's as good as the breakfast then definately a must"

"We reserved a table for 1pm on a Saturday at the BREWery cafe in the pretty village of Sileby for a light lunch. The BREWery is a cosy, family friendly cafe serving pots of tea and coffee, soup, sandwiches, paninis, deli boards etc. It caters for kids with a couple of simple choices. We enjoyed a lovely lunch. The Home deli board was tasty and was a delicious ploughmans. Cheeses, chutney, a pickle, quarter Scotch egg and lean ham were served with freshly baked, brown sourdough bread. We also enjoyed the freshly prepared, substantial toasted paninis. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with creamy mozzarella or ham and cheese. Paninis are served with little pots of crisps. The young staff were friendly and efficient.Good value and recommended for a light lunch or a cuppa."

"I go to the Passage about 6 to 8 times a year something I have done for a number of years. I have never had a bad meal or bad service in that time. This week I went with wifey for Banquet Night , we had Papadoms, starter, main course with Pilay and also Ice cream for ÂŁ16.95, we did spend a little more as we had a couple of drinks each plus extra papadoms and 2 Chapatti's. The restaurant and toilets are always spotless, in fact the restaurant has had a refit with new chairs etc I have never been disappointed with The Passage to India, and for me it is 10/10.."

"Can I say that I use the branch at The Outwoods regularly when out walking and find it fantastic. Food is excellent and staff are great. Just visited the branch in town for coffee and a bite to eat. We ordered drinks and a portion of porridge and a bacon roll. Whilst waiting I noted that it seems chaotic behind the counter. After a few minutes I heard our server asking the young lady preparing food if our porridge had been “shouted” It clearly hadn’t and he did this using a radio. I saw food being sent back from a table outside with the customer clearly not happy and walking away. After 15 mins waiting I chased our food as it hadn’t arrived. We were told it would be with us by the server in 4 1/2 mins as he said he wanted to be accurate. I then saw a table that had arrived 10 mins after us get food including a bacon roll. I asked for a refund as this was now 20 mins and still no food had arrived. I was appalled at the reaction of staff. Instructing me that they were busy and 20 mins isn’t long to wait. The food, they said was cooked to order. Guys, it’s a bacon roll and portage not a full English!! I’m assuming this is the same at Outwoods where a bacon roll arrives in around 5 mins! This guy (beard/green t shirt) then proceeded to tell the whole cafe that he was being asked by a customer for a refund. Again stating that I had only been waiting 20mins. Not very professional. He said he would do the refund and we left. Clearly if he is honest it wasn’t the best Saturday morning with 2 complaints in 15 mins about food. The young lady looked out of her depth and cafes cannot use the excuse of being busy. They are supposed to be busy. I will continue to use The Outwoods but give the town branch a miss due to the attitude of the staff member who dealt with my request for a refund. Hopefully he can address his shortcomings in customer service. You need to be able to deal with complaints and embarrassing a customer in front of everyone in the cafe is very poor. Hope your day improves."

"We've eaten here several times before and found the food to be fresh, authentic and tasty. Visited today and surprised we were the only customers. Food came quickly but was very poor. Chicken dish with oyster sauce was cold and clearly not freshly cooked. Informed waiter who said he would heat it up.....no offer of cooking it fresh. Pad Thai with seafood lacked seafood and was overcooked and mushy. The prawn dish with black pepper was covered in large pieces of crushed black pepper to the extreme making it inedible. Thai green curry had a sweet flavour to it and lacked the firey punch it should have. Now I understand why the place was empty. Poor quality, cold reheated food. People vote with their feet, as will we. We won't be coming back!"

"I provided this feedback via their in-house feedback form but they didn’t bother to reply. My girlfriend booked us a table. When we checked the lady behind the bar was puzzled, unable to find our table. Was referred to “manager” who took us to a table with a card showing the table was reserved for another guest. Why no label for our table? Although there were many nice alcoves with a modicum of privacy our table was an awkward add-on in an awkward position with no privacy whatsoever. We ordered drinks that arrived timely and we ordered our roast lamb dinner. Three more times different staff asked us if we had ordered yet? Another example of the chaotic management style!! Within minutes the next table just a few feet away showed themselves to be very inconsiderate with a constantly barking dog under the table, very loud barking. I made my feeling very clear to the staff and soon the barking was stopped. Why allow dogs into the eating area? It’s not appropriate!! We started eating out roast dinner only to be disturbed again by a multiple tray crash, three separate crashes one after the other followed by staff rushing past us to investigate and clear up. Remember, our table in an awkward position, very apparent now. A few minutes later I expected a repeat when another staff member tried to navigate a fully loaded tray through a doorway narrower than the tray. It just beggars belief. Get proper trays!! We finished our dinner which was actually very nice, the only good thing in our visit, and left. It is hard to see why we would want to return to The Wheatsheaf Inn. It was chaotic."

"The worst pub experience I have ever had. Never would I expect to feel so intimidated by a Member of Wetherspoons staff. Clearly very high on some A class narcotic. after the pandemic they have employed any Tom dick or Harry as the professionalism by the management is diabolical. I have never been treated with such malice by a bearded overweight manager w with the social skills of a dead octopus. Whom thinks people touching up their waitresses is more important than than someone taking 5 minutes late to finish up their drinks. I will take my awful experience to the local newspapers the violence and black aggressive eyes of the apparent manager/ supervisor was so diabolical I couldn’t even begin to explain clearly very drugged up. The whole experience was awful apparently I’m barred because I refused to leave before my extremely autistic friend was ready to leave. The aggression was unthinkable for a Wetherspoons I can’t begin to comprehend this attitude as someone who has worked in the industry for 25 years. The managers need removing with immediate effect their vile language and fight club attitude is disgusting. Tim Martin you are no longer ripping in your teacher or favourable comic book character. Sort your staff out because in my opinion you and your company has gone to pot because your employee in this instance is a vile bottom feeder"

"I would have never had known about this hidden gem until taking a boat trip on the river soar with friends. Strange place to get to, down a very narrow winding lane. Absolutely stunning location! Overlooking the marina plus great outdoor seating . The inside is also very pleasant. The menu isn’t huge but all cooked fresh- two of our ladies had steak apparently it was delicious!/some had fish chips and other choices. All came at the same time, which is important, butthe downside is we did have to wait quite a while despite pre ordered. We arrived at 1pm had drinks but did not eat until 1.50pm when we all were starving hungry But we must say, it was well worth the long wait Great place for lunch with friends, and the service is brilliant. thank you all so much Also a fab place for a morning coffee, and delicious scone. Looking forward to visiting again shortly"

"Ok so let’s have some balance. It’s not amazing Chinese food….but it’s a pretty decent takeaway. It’s as good as anywhere else in Rough and I’ve done them all so no way I would go out of my way to go elsewhere. Get what you would expect -not amazing but it’s ok…erm except the chips….think I’m going to have to agree with the negative nellies as they are…..crap but if I want chips I go to the chippy"

"me and my partner ordered from here a good few times with orders costing ÂŁ32-ÂŁ60 something. we order through just eat and never had a problem, food was nice no complaints on the food but... and this is not just rising sun, as i said we ordered on the just eat app for some reason it changed our address we saw it as it was about to get delivered, we phoned up rising sun to say that it had the wrong address on it, it had already been delivered, we knocked on the address it had meant to have gone to and they said yes they came but we turned it down saying we didn't order it, the lady on the phone at rising sun had said that was right and was delivered to another address, next door. My point here is why wasn't we phoned when the first place turned it down. the lady on the phone even said that it was delivered to the address on the ticket when she herself knew it wasn't she told us where it had been supposedly delivered but the people that live there are not in so even tho it had an address they delivered it to a completely different address not the one on the ticket. As for just eat they are a waste of time trying to get hold of. So sum it up rising sun use the excuse it's just eats problem and just eat well good luck trying to get somewhere with them rising sun and just eat lost a customer today. in the end they should have phoned our number to simple ask what address when the family they tried to deliver to turned it away."

"The George consistently amazes us with its outstanding food, exceptional presentations, and excellent staff. The cleanliness of the restaurant is impeccable and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Just when I thought they couldn't get any better, I tried the lamb cutlets from the specials board today and they completely blew me away."

"Hosted a baby shower here on a Sunday for my best friend. Jeanette was very accomodating and friendly, nothing was a problem. They're was plenty of food and great choices, the sausage rolls were to die for and lovely thick ham in the sandwiches. Everyone commented on the lemon drizzle cake and brownies and there was plenty of tea, coffee and hot chocolate to go around. Jeanette also providing some lovely decorations and balloons. Thanks for a lovely afternoon!"

"The menu at this restaurant is straightforward, offering a choice between Japanese rice or noodles with a selection of meat and sauce. I ordered the chicken curry rice and tempura prawn accompanied by a hot cup of Chinese tea. The service was friendly, the food was delicious, and the price was very reasonable. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience."

"I had been on a training course at Glenfield all day and passed through Ansty on my way home wanting to visit Cropston which is where my family are from . I was desperate for a drink and shot in the Nook Coffee shop , to find they were about closed and had cleaned everything away , the very kind lady behind the counter took pity on me and made me a wonderful latte to take out , have to say it was one of the nicest coffees I’ve had and was so much appreciated ! Some people would have been really grumpy about but she still served me with a smile and made me feel welcome , thank you!"

"On my travels I thought I’d try this place as I’ve passed it many times and was on my route. Unfortunately they didn’t take phone orders, but understandable in this trade I guess for P&L margins for dummy orders and so on, but would have really helped me out on the day as time was pressed…and I was hungry. Also it’s cash only, which in today’s electronic transactional world is odd and I would guess catches a few people out, but that’s the businesses prerogative. Outside 1st impressions, not great to be fair. The outside dining area is right next to the car park and very loud if you’re trying to have a relaxing meal. Maybe quieter later in the day. The window boxes outside have had little love recently which hosted a variety of dead or dying plant life. There was also lots of cobwebs etc on the main entrance. Also, the designated assembly point, in case of a fire or evacuation, was interesting very close to the road and petrol station. I think the rear car park would be a safer option, but this may not be the choice of the cafe and be pre designated by the H&S team. Inside, much better. Clean and seemingly comfortable with a few patrons enjoying their meals. Guy serving was smiling and friendly. I think there was a review previously that said something along the lines of this was a transport cafe. Tbf, it is without trying to take anything away from its ambitions. The website (Which is very good) I think sells it as something else and from the reviews does some very good Sicilian courses, but the main trade here is breakfasts I’d suggest, which I’m guessing tells its own story. The cobs we had were served quickly and were of good quality, so no grumbles there. As with all dining experiences, the first bite is in the presentation, unfortunately if passing trade think the outside isn’t great there’re unlikely to be drawn in next time around. Maybe back one day."
