"this place has a special place in my heart. I was born and raised in Greece. if this place in the far away is a blessing that eating is so authentic and it is guided like a traditional Greek restaurant by the most loving Greek family. this is a true taste Greek, I always go for the mini-gyro with everything in and I can honestly say that it is as good as what it would get into the motherland. After I just returned from my celebrations I was cautious that the taste would not match quite, but it exceeded expectations. the flesh and the pitta where so delicious and so fill. "had a great time here for a Tuesday night. really nice, different menu for nutritional needs given. manager was friendly and responsive, noticed that we felt a bit cramped on a smaller table so that we moved to a bigger one. our waiter joe was great, he would always ask if we needed something, confirmed nutritional needs when giving that, felt very personally every time he would come to the table. another waiter keiran from another section would check if we needed something, just when we walk past, felt really looking! definitely a great night and experience, so a friendly atmosphere the staff are great."

"stay during the going of the south downs way and found this pub to be underoccupied, with tired, drab rooms and eating over expensive. the bedroom was poky, with a terrible shower room, old carpets and thin walls. the check-in at the arrival was with a...reliable young man who needs a short course in customer service. the restaurant was full, but with only two employees were pushed to even take orders. the poor waitress was actually blown between the tables. do not accept bookings if they cannot deliver in the service. eating was reasonable, but expensive. a cooked breakfast was not part of the overnight price and cost extra."

"A break in the weather so we walked up to the house admiring the setting. On arrival, the door to the tea shop had a table in the way see photograph. A waitress popped her head out the door and looked at me as if she wondered what we were doing there. 'Are you still serving....cake? ' says I. 'Yes, take a seat ' and she gestured to one of the courtyard tables. We took a table the only customers (or so we thought). The waitress came to take our order I was so looking forward to a slice of cake. Imagine my disappointment when the only offerings were shortbread, brownie or scones. So we plumped for a cream tea (no fruit scones available, only plain) and a brownie. Now it is a pretty courtyard...but not in the pouring rain. Being British, we sheltered under a parasol to enjoy our tea. Unfortunately, the scone was microwaved and they forgot the brownie, but served two cream teas?! When my jeans started to get wet, we decided not to hang around and so I went to settle up. On paying (at the doorway) I looked to the left and saw another couple sitting at a table INDOORS ...all warm and toasty, plus lots of empty tables. I asked the waitress why couldn 't we have been seated indoors. Her reply 'They were reserved '. Really? We had been there 15 minutes and no one had arrived or left. It was 3.15 on a wet and windy Friday afternoon. I really felt as if we had been an inconvenience."

"Helpful staff member explained when I booked for Tuesday night that they serve only tapas earlier in the week. On arrival happy to be told they’d decided to serve the full menu that night resulting in an unexpectedly excellent, keenly priced meal. Pigeon breast with beetroot purée starter, cajun spice coated chicken breast and lemon posset for me, duck breast cassoulet and a huge apple crumble with masses of vanilla custard for my pudding loving spouse. Both agreed it was hard to see how our meals could have been bettered, especially at these prices, with all 3 meats ‘just so’ juicy and tender with good accompaniments and attentive friendly service. Having praised the food to our server he explained that the chef had cooked in Michelin restaurants and it showed! Will definitely eat at The George again next time we are in the area!"

"Have enjoyed many of the carvery Sunday roast in the Folly Upstairs and so was happy to book for a Sunday roast downstairs in the absence of service Upstairs. Very disappointed. Food was way off the quality of carvery and instead of an excellent choice of up to 5 vegetables were served with peas and carrots frozen mix. Yorkshire puddings were burnt on top. Definitely not up to usual standard. Price per person: £10–20"

"I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! I ordered the brilliant bratbeef, which was fantastic, while my two friends enjoyed pasta with a unique twist. For dessert, we tried the ginger pudding with custard, which was delightful. The charming owner showed great care in ensuring we had a great time. I also noticed their new display of heucheras outside—there were 61 in total! This village pub is definitely worth a visit."

"Booked last minute on a Sunday for a family of 5 and our 1 year old! Arrived and table all set for us with high hair provided. Great choice on the menu, 4 of us went for the roast beef and 1 of us the burger along with prawns, ribs and garlic bread for starter! Well to say the food was nice would not do it justice! The food was delicious, full of flavour and great portion sizes. By far THE BEST roast dinner we have ever had out! The beef was cooked to perfection! The staff were so professional and welcoming and we will definitely return! Outside area looked lovely also so definitely now on our list for drinks in the sunshine soon! Would highly recommend and thanks for a lovely Sunday afternoon out!"

"I wanted to treat my Mum to a pub lunch. Had seen the good reviews on Trip Advisor for the Farmers Inn so we took a drive out from Portsmouth to Hornchurch (about 20 minutes) to give it a try. The owners were so friendly and welcoming which is an important and rare commodity nowadays. I had the slow cooked pork belly which was cooked to perfection with excellent crackling and my Mum had the beef featherblade with mustard mash which was again cooked perfectly with great flavour. Really couldn't fault it. Pub had a really warm, cosy, rustic feel and relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely visit again I'm passing. Thankyou for the great hospitality."

"friendly staff serve hot fresh Thai dishes from the menu side of vegetarian and vegan options. the clear mushroom soup meets with expected aromen: zilantro (coriander,) kaffir limette, galangal and lemongrass, perfectly seasoned (not too hot, not mild). both were tasty, but strangely neither contain tofu nor aubergines. (I think the waiter has misunderstood ours. there was a [mistaken] cultural struggle against soy in Britain, so he probably thought that I wanted to avoid for this little place making a welcome evening for the hungry vegans demand Asian food near alton. a solid 3.5 stars."

"We went for dinner last night. The food is amazing. Really interesting and delicious. The white wine was warm however as hadn’t been in the fridge which is NOT good. Overall, we enjoyed it BUT it is very very expensive. I don’t mind paying those prices if you feel you’ve enjoyed a luxury experience. But this is still a pub….cutlery in tins on the table, basic paper slightly soiled menus and paper napkins and waitresses in scruffy clothes. I would gladly go back had we felt that the exorbitant prices reflected in the entire experience. £200 for a meal for 2 is a lot…and not even a complimentary bread selection! I think the food is worthy of the price providing the rest of the dining experience catches up. Until that happens we probably wouldn’t revisit sadly."

"Sunday evening family meal for 7. Food was quite frankly delicious; we were all served at the same time which in my experience is a rarity, particularly as the restaurant was very busy. Will definitely be coming again and I can highly recommend the Beef and Mushroom pie and the sticky toffee pudding.............absolutely to die for!"

"I've been coming to the Harrow for 30 years and it sets the benchmark for every other pub I try. It's a beautiful building with a big table at which the locals always invite you to join them and large fireplace taking up most of the main room. The garden is great too, or you can sit out the front of the pub. The landladies run the pub perfectly, one front of house and the other in the kitchen, where food is cooked in/on an Aga. It's a limited menu but delicious and most of it served with a big slab of warm bread. Beer is local and comes straight from the barrel. A warning it's cash only, so come prepared."

"We saw Malabon advertising on social media their banquet deal £16.95 each person on Valentine’s Day special. Me my agree that it definitely was value for your money. Out of the three Indian restaurant in town this one is our favourite because the food service has always been very good. First impressions was very good, decoration good at least they made an effort compared to the pub we had been too. They sat us upstairs as downstairs was full so was upstairs. Very busy! We started off with papadums with pickles our favourite mint raithia was lovely. Both ordered onion Bhajee for starters they were crispy, light flavourful. The mains extremely good especially the chicken tikka shalick and the lentil dansak. We thought because it be £16.95 it might be ok meal but it was actually really good definitely value for money very good quality. As always the manager/owner had time to speak to us even though they were really busy. Also bought us a drink which is always kind of him. Thank you Malabon"

"We arrived at 20:30, got seated at 20:45 waited over 1h30 for our STARTERS, the mains came approx 30 mins later. Starters were OK. My main had egg shell in for whatever reason considering there was no egg in the dish! They offered to take it back but I refused considering I was so tired and starving and didn’t want to wait another 30 minutes! We left the restaurant at 23:30 after arriving at 20:30 (see receipt for proof) There were 4 waiters serving approximately 30/40 tables including outside seating. Not following the social distancing. They’re clearly cramming tables in and employing minimum staff to catch up on what they’ve missed out on. The bill still came to over £55, despite being part of the eat out to help out. Have they raised their prices to accommodate this? Massively disappointing won’t be returning and will be telling family friends not to either!"

"Popped in here as it was listed as dog friendly and my mother and I had traveled to petersfield for a dog walk exploring the local lake and got hungry. So glad we did! What a lovely little pub! The gentleman holding down the fort acting as barman and waiter etc (I presume the Landlord! was lovely and friendly, welcoming and kind- none of that small pub for locals atmosphere at all! I got chatting with some of the regulars and it seems to be a very well loved and well used local for many but one you can step in to as an outsider and be happily welcomed. Great selection of drinks and it was lovely to see they stock the non alcoholic Asahi! Never had that behind a bar before and I was very glad to see it. The food was lovely, the chips were cooked to perfection and the meze bowl was flavourful and wonderfully put together. I always worry about meze bowls being bland but the flavours were beautiful and very well balanced to compliment each other. We are already looking forward to coming back now that we have 'discovered ' this wonderful little gem!"

"I can't rate this place highly enough. I would like to thank the staff and management for a wonderful visit. We were seated in the room with the fireplace. I cannot tell you how much the nine of us enjoyed our afternoon in The Deers Hut. We were there to celebrate my 60th birthday. The staff were exceptional, nothing was too much bother, they continually checked to see if we needed more drinks. They were helpful and happy at all times, even though we could see they were having a very busy afternoon. The food was absolutely fantastic, all nine of us didn't have a bad word to say about anything. The specials were really special, our vegetarian guests were delighted with what was on offer to them, even a veggie option on the specials board. For our non meat eaters, the fish dishes, especially the mackerel were delicious. The mains and puddings gave us all a wonderful choice. This was seriously good food. And finally the drinks. The drink flowed. We had lots of cocktails, and they were some of the best we have ever had the delight to drink. The expresso and pornstar martinis were sublime. The wine was great and we had a wide choice of gins and beers. All eight of my guests said they thought it was one of the best meals they had ever had. I can't thank the manager and staff enough for giving me such a wonderful, fun and indulgent afternoon celebrating my 60th birthday in just the way I hoped it would be. We are out of your area, but I know you will be getting some return business from my guests and myself this year. Many, many thanks."

"booked Sunday dinner per week in advance. for Sunday dinner at 15.00 for two adults and two children. we did not come to welcome, simply said: "Your table was set up in the other room. the manager was not received coming and said he believed we had ordered for four adults. I told him I was very clear it was for two adult and two children when I booked. we asked to see the menu and was recommended it was offered only Sunday evening dinner. I asked what the vegetarian option was that he told me we had to order in advance and that would not be available today. there were no prizes on the table for Sunday roasts or possibilities of puddings published and the website was down today before they arrive to see themselves on menu or prices. we asked us to get away from billard table had just tied up children only 3 years old was only examined as had never seen before, but we honored his question and children never touched it during our visit. in the room children has learned to play with dad. manager commented it was glass, but was assured by my man that they were treated with respect, I would not harm his table and continue playing chest. not sure he was very satisfied with his answer. ordered drinks and the personal use left on the bar. many asked if the drinks belong to us were wandered away. husband has the drinks of the bar. the drink was a good size and tasted well from an alcoholic drink. the food arrived quickly and was a good part. unfortunately my personal opinion was that it was precooked and how tante bettys bratkartoffeln tasted and veg heated by a microwave. lukewarm food. we asked for bark for the children and got chickens, but I don't have the manager's attention. my little one asked where her bark was on her teller. young bar staff who had no idea what they did the plates were removed, we were not offered pudding at any stage. the bill for two adult and a child meal was and drinks were about £40. £14 any adult meal. and £3,50 for any kinder meal. would be the order pudding, but was not offered so that we never asked to see menu or options. for our family we would not visit in the future for a meal again. we paid are bills and tried to say goodbye and thank them for eating, but was not aware so left the building. parking was good for the small pub. the pub itself was very clean and cozy with open fire and lots of laughing from locals in the other room."

"came for Mother's day breakfast it was extremely busy the signs of a good place. we could park outside on the street. we were squeezed on our question, but could have waited for a bigger table if we wanted. service was very fast and efficient the server were polite and attentive, although it was clear that they were busy. I had a thick milkshake that was delicious and very full. we had breakfast pancakes that were good, I love the pancakes here they are so fluffy what they put in them? suet? at least the only thing that would let it down, the breakfast was throttled in sirup and made it much too sweet I would rather have syrup on the side to taste. yet I will rehearse more of the delicious menu choices."

"Perfect Food was delicious, brilliant selection for all taste buds from chicken to salmon, monkfish, prawn, lamb, mixed. From mild to very hot. Fast service, nicely presented with friendly, lovely polite staff. Tonight was quiet, which we prefer, being able to talk and hear each other speak. The booking was made for tonight, Sunday for a table for 5. We had starters, mains, sides, dessert, alcoholic drinks, soft drink and 2 Irish coffees to end the evening. We are new to the area, this is the second time we have been to this Nepalese restaurant and the only one we have visited since before the Pandemic. This will be our regular haunt for a 'treat ' or special occasion from now on. First visit was a Saturday evening, very busy, two large parties. extremely popular place to eat locally yet still the good service and quality food was evident."
