"Frango Grill is clearly not too subtle a reference to another chicken restaurant and the menu is equally reflective. However, do not let that put you off. The food is fantastic and superior to that other restaurant. My whole family agrees on that point. We have been having our new kitchen fitted and so needed to rely on takeaway food for a couple of weeks. After becoming bored with the usual suspects I thought I’d try Frango. The whole family loved it and we’ve quickly become their best customers I’d imagine. I’m a vegetarian so I can’t personally vouch for the chicken but the kids love the choice of spice and my boy demolishes the wings. My wife and I also love the vegetarian options which are delicious and fresh tasting. I think “fresh” is a key word here. Everything tastes so fresh! By the way, chips on the one hand are “basic” but Frango chips are brilliant. Skin on type and especially crispy. With or without the peri spice they are delicious. None of your anaemic floppy chips here. All portion sizes are great as well by the way and the staff couldn’t be more friendly or helpful. I can happily recommend Frango Grill to anyone, even if you are a vegetarian you’ll come away very happy with your food. My only regret is I now have a working kitchen and I have less of an excuse to visit. I hope Frango Grill succeeds, it certainly deserves to."

"A break in the weather so we walked up to the house admiring the setting. On arrival, the door to the tea shop had a table in the way see photograph. A waitress popped her head out the door and looked at me as if she wondered what we were doing there. 'Are you still serving....cake? ' says I. 'Yes, take a seat ' and she gestured to one of the courtyard tables. We took a table the only customers (or so we thought). The waitress came to take our order I was so looking forward to a slice of cake. Imagine my disappointment when the only offerings were shortbread, brownie or scones. So we plumped for a cream tea (no fruit scones available, only plain) and a brownie. Now it is a pretty courtyard...but not in the pouring rain. Being British, we sheltered under a parasol to enjoy our tea. Unfortunately, the scone was microwaved and they forgot the brownie, but served two cream teas?! When my jeans started to get wet, we decided not to hang around and so I went to settle up. On paying (at the doorway) I looked to the left and saw another couple sitting at a table INDOORS ...all warm and toasty, plus lots of empty tables. I asked the waitress why couldn 't we have been seated indoors. Her reply 'They were reserved '. Really? We had been there 15 minutes and no one had arrived or left. It was 3.15 on a wet and windy Friday afternoon. I really felt as if we had been an inconvenience."

"This was supposed to be a lovely Mother’s Day treat for me my daughter with other members of the family,WOW, it was anything but, it was extremely disappointing , over priced , and small portions. One of the waitresses was very condescending ..patronising to the people in our party who were not able to eat the fish and chips ordered as it was inedible due to it being off, it smelt tasted vile, dare I say had a smell of ammonia, the waitress then said , I can’t believe that as the fish was delivered fresh only yesterday, I really didn’t need to be lectured or told this as we the consumer were eating it and it was awful. The starters were hugely over priced , for so called king prawns which came in batter but did not say on menu board, which were no more than the ones you get from a Chinese takeaway with a chilli sauce , the pate starter was very small bread did not seem fresh, the soup was advised as carrot coriander and when it arrived it was tomato basil? The child’s garlic bread was far too strong with garlic and bread did not seem fresh. The side order of pigs in blankets for consisted of small sausages with bacon which as one of our party didn’t like the starters asked if this could be served as a starter which they said it could but it was not, when serving mains , we asked waitress to bring missing pigs in blankets and she said we already had been served them and we said actually no we haven’t and eventually they brought the rather over cooked pigs in blankets to the table. The roast dinners were not much better, under cooked and soggy roast potatoes, which were too big, not enough veg and not enough gravy. Being that it was Mother’s Day we did expect that the mums would get a complimentary drink or something but nothing , which was rather disappointing and the whole menu made no reference to it being Mother’s Day ,the people in the restaurant were obviously there because of this as we were too, the harp musician music was far too loud for the small compact space. The whole lunch experience has left a bad taste as did the fish chips and the members of the family felt quite ill afterwards as they attempted to eat the inedible food which was returned after cutting into it and one mouthful. A very disappointing visit and we will not be returning."
