Lovely food, good selection of drinks and a very friendly atmosphere staff made you feel very welcome

The Sunday roast was delicious and perfect portion size. The wine was ridiculously expensive. Ask for the wine menu before ordering.

Unfortunately, this pub is not living up to its potential. The shorter hours and potential for early closure are big turn-offs, not to mention the unfriendly barstaff. Despite our efforts to support them, we often leave wondering why we even bothered.

Warm friendly welcome. Service was very quick. Delicious food and a wide range of wines to choose from. Popular with the locals. Nice location. Will definitely visit again. The waiter/waitress was lovely...service with a smile. Cannot fault their efficiency during service.

The snug next to the restaurant area is comfortable. We had relations with us with thir dog so it worked well. The barmaid, Cynthia, was excellent. Attentive and friendly. we all ate something different and were all very happy bwith the food. Slightly off putting is that everyone in the bar has to pass through the restaurant area to get to the toilets. perhaps a screen would be nice. only a suggestion as we'd go there again anyway.

We made a reservation for 1 pm for lunch, but by 1:45 pm we were still waiting for our food. When we inquired about the delay, we were informed that it would be at least another twenty minutes. Other patrons were also facing long wait times, with some waiting over an hour. This level of service is completely unacceptable. If we had been notified in advance about the delay, we could have made an informed decision whether to stay or leave sooner.

Update Friday 05th April 2924. I visited with my parents again (I don't live in Alton). We had the same meals as last time, the Horn fish pie and the chicken curry, which were once again, delicious. My Mum tried the Moss Forest cake which she really enjoyed. Harry is an exceptional waiter, really enthusiastic, professional and friendly. All the staff are very welcoming. Highly recommend. First review: I visited here with my parents a few weeks ago, this review is overdue. We had a warm welcome by a very friendly young man who was very attentive, despite being busy. We had a lovely lunch in a pleasant atmosphere and will definitely come back. If I lived closer I would go to their comedy night...
