"We did book and timed it just right as it became very busy with long queue for the carvery shortly after we got ours. Choice of beef. Gammon. Turkey. Pork. You get enough meat but not loads. You help yourself to vegetables and can have as many as you want and go back for more. Lots of nice vegetables to choose from with most of them being fresh not frozen we had a very nice waitress Eden. We will be going back"

"first visit in a year, this restaurant was earlier one of my favorite and very good service and environment, unfortunately it has now deteriorated. literally for 7.30 a.m. on Saturday and at arrival we were put into the bar to eat what was. very loud surrounded by loud annoying people so a conversation between my part and I was difficult. the waiter was a little short at the limit. the Krug crackers are now charged and expensive. the portions were still delicious, but small and very badly presented (especially the salad) compared to my previous visit. waited for 35 minutes to gloomy and had to ask again and again about the bill. sad to say, I'm not sure I'm going back!"

"Went there after a long time and they have refurbished the restaurant and looks more on the modern side. They got rid of the rear carpark and created more seating area. Prices have gone up but ordered the Kervan Extra Special platter and the meat pieces definitely looked bigger in size compared to how I remember them to be when I last visited. The different meats on the platter were cooked spot on and tasted very good. The bulger rice and white rice were cooked well and the meat oils moistened and flavoured the rice nicely. Visited yesterday to celebrate my 3 year old nephews birthday and there were several more birthdays being celebrated. The staff brought out the cakes for everyone who were celebrating their birthdays and singing to the birthday person. It was a proper nice and lively atmosphere. Will always be going with the family whenever we want to eat out as it's one of our favourites."

"We had a good breakfast here. I (eventually) had the veggie version the first order arrived with bacon but that was soon dispatched back to the kitchen and a large plate of eggs, hash browns, halloumi and veggie sausage appeared with toast. The English breakfast tea was excellent the sort you can stand your spoon up in. My friend had the breakfast with salmon and avocado and that too seemed to disappear satisfactorily. It's a chic, all day breakfast place in Enfield and all in all a good find."

"Food is OK, chilled white wine isn 't chilled enough. Busy pub in a lovely area...main issue is the staff...they are all fairly officious and terse...except one young lady behind the bar who was smiley and great. When you have finished eating your plate is whipped away in a nano second without any interaction. I did try and said to the guy who took my starter plate.... 'really enjoyed that ' I said....the response was 'order some more then '. Nice. How about 'Glad you enjoyed it will you be ordering a main course 'The couple and I on the next table giggled as their plates were whisked away whilst they we still chewing there last mouthful. I know this is a chain and therefore the staff probably aren 't invested in the business bit think it could be a much better experience. Probably being a bit hard on the staff as this is obviously a management problem...or lack of it.l"

"Terrible service on my daughter's Birthday extremely unprofessional staff and the lady that served our table had a blank-looking facial expression and looked as if we didn't have a reservation and felt like her face was saying where did you all come from. No initiative in asking if we need anything whatsoever. The children and adults would say thank you to everything she would just again look with no reactions yet go over to other tables and talk to others with reactions. So me and my husband just assumed she must not have any ideas about British Values because the only thing that was different was our colour and that's why she behaved this way. If she knew her British Values she would have communicated with us for sure. The 23rd of July was the worst birthday ever for my daughter who only turned 12 We only had a group of 7 girls from my daughter's class and a couple of adults. Oh well i would not advice anybody to have a birthday party here at all as its horrible atmosphere. Negative energy all over the place mostly staff no smiles very fake smiles. Very soggy kids' menu and freezing cold horrible. The only person that was lovely was Chichi who was the girl I saw a day before the birthday to reserve the tables she was so kind and helpful."

"Don’t really want to leave a negative review, this is my local restaurant and we have been dining here for years. However, this isn’t the first time this has happened in the last few months. The pizzas are good although different from a few years back but service is so bad if you are dining. No welcome, you have to try and get someone’s attention to be served there doesn’t seem to be servers assigned to a section. I kept calling the guys in the yellow t shirt first so that someone could take our order then to order dessert waited 10 min). They have a strange system that the people in yellow t shirt have to ask the guys jn black shirts there were two of them in black shirts and they were far away. We ordered a chocolate fondant for dessert finally. I was told the wait would be 15 mins, I mentioned I had waited over 10 mins to be served and the server looked at me angrily said they were busy. No way was the restaurant at full capacity. I’ve been to Bella Italia at pre theatre times service has been friendly and efficient. It’s a shame, but pizzas are pricey £14 each) 4% service charge is added. In 90 mins we had just 2 pizzas and a dessert. Would have ordered a coffee but it seemed too much effort to order!! Btw I normally order a del Bosco pizza, ordered a patrizio this time, it was good but it wasn’t clear from the menu that it wouldn’t have any tomato sauce. Here some communication would have been good. I would suggest that they don’t take the bookings if they can’t cope."

"We booked our Christmas dinner here. It was expensive at £100 a head for the adults and £50 a head for my 6 yr old and for my under 2 yr old! So we had high hopes . Awful service, waiting almost an hour for our starters without an apology. We were offered “complimentary” hors d’oeuvres which were X2 leaves of a little gem lettuce with finely chopped feta, tomato and cucumber on between 5 of us!!! Eventually our underwhelming staters arrived followed by a dull main course. My mum’s meal was missing parsnip and cranberry sauce which the staff couldn’t care less about when I mentioned it to them. All in all the staff seemed unhappy to be there and their focus seemed to be on sending tray after tray of fancy looking hors d’oeuvres to a private party upstairs. It’s such a shame as were local and had it been a good day we would have returned annually as it is I would warn anyone off. Really overpriced and horribly disappointing, never again."

"I've been coming regularly to this amazing restaurant and well let me tell you it's the best I've ever been too, the owner who reminds me of my brother in his personality is warm and friendly and gives off family like inviting vibes, always fits me and my Mrs in even on a busy Saturday evening which seems to be 7 o'clock, the food is the best I've ever eaten with very reasonable prices and with excellent portions. The owner even made a special sizzling main into a starter for us which completely blew us away, all the staff are amazing and welcoming and nothing is too much, thank you guy's my go to place for good."

"Having attended a nice family event earlier in the year, I booked the Robin Hood for a special birthday celebration, 6 months in advance. Various emails were sent and phone calls had, regarding our requirements and plans for the day. When we arrived early as agreed, nothing had been set up, this was still the case 20 minutes before people were due to arrive. The person in charge was not helpful and was quite rude to me, on a number of occasions. There was not enough tables and chairs for 40 people, so we had to get some from the other areas when guests were there. We had to request the food and drinks table to be set up more than once and eventually had to clear the tables ourselves so that the desserts which had been taken out of the fridge too soon could be served. The only reason I have given a Poor and not Terrible is that the savoury food was actually very good and everyone enjoyed it. One or two staff were nice towards the end and tried to be helpful but it was a bit late by then. Based on my experience I would not recommend this pub for an event and hope that they take my comments onboard and address the issues for future clients."

"Arrived on time for booking and was promptly seated very limited space as tables were crammed in. Waiter was very keen to take our drink order and starters order on us just sitting down. Very speedy beer delivery not so speedywith the delivery of tap water. Starters we're nice Delivery of of drinks was slow to be generous and then x2 rounds were served together Placing order for main course was very slow Main meal was served piecemeal. Curry sauce was very watery and thin, no thickness to curry sauce no flavour to meat in curry, curry was bland and completely tasteless both chicken and lamb dishes. Dinner plates were massive portions were small and tasteless. Waited very patiently for the bill and asked 4 times Will not be returning. Very disappointed"

"*EDIT* So the Gryphon has changed a lot over the years. Latest iteration is by far the best yet. Well managed (David) and brilliant staff (Clara, Sharon etc al). New menu actually ok! Its a harvester so you know what to expect. Local, staff are actually pretty good. *update* Now an Ember inns. Let's see how it goes. "Popped in for a spot of lunch, myself, hubby son ordered the sandwiches from the menu, whilst my daughter ordered lasagna, grandkids ordered pizza. When the food came, we were very disappointed with the bread as it was regular sliced whereas another table had what looked like doorstop bread! The kids meals were clearly microwave Chicago town pizzas, and the lasagna that my daughter ordered didn’t arrive until we were all finished ready to leave. They ended up taking the cost off of the final hill as it took so long to arrive. Unfortunately this has put us off from visiting further."

"Been coming here since the early nineties knew all the old owner Tommy, Yin and Simon and all the staff. Have always used it but have moved away recently. We went there last night to have a few missed dished. The food was very fresh very nice. A couple of things were a negative though. We always had the salt and chilli squid starter. I'm sorry but today it's 14.50 for a starter? It was nice but never 14.50 worth. Bo starter should be 14.50. Prawn main dish 14.50. Normal bottle of water. 3.50 300ml. How and when did Oakwood palace become so expensive. 3 people £100. 1 beer two soft drinks. Good food but way to expensive. It's not as if the place has had a major revamp. It's had a lick of paint and a little tosh up. Also the portions were on the small side. Sweet and sour pork Cantonese style was the dish I fell in love with year 30 years ago. Wasn't crispy and was half the size of the old days portion. But 12£ now. Not sure if I'd go back to pay 30£ each for run of the mill chinese. Fusion it's not"

"Worst experience yet!! I ordered a takeaway via Uber eats and requested for the food to be authentic Indian style. I received just under half filled containers and when I called to complain, the manager replied the reason for the very small potion of my food ie. Lamb Bhuna (authentically lamb in dry sauce) was because they would usually water the down for general customers but as we wanted the proper one we received much smaller potions and if we’re not happy then we don’t need to order again!!! The even bigger issue was that the food was also very badly cooked with a horrendous amounts of spice, even the popadoms were chewy. I did not receive any salad or sauces at all either!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!"
