"Nachdem wir schon einieg Zeit nicht mehr beim Alexis waren, wollten wir uns mal wieder so richtig verwöhnen lassen.Der Empfang war herzlich und Felix, unser heutiger Gastgeber, bot uns abweichend von unserer Reservierung einen Tisch an der Straßenseite an. Wir waren ihm dankbar denn es war heute sehr heiß und schwül.Wie immer hatten wir im Nu die Speisekarte und Felix zählte zusätzlich auf, was es für Tagesgerichte gab.Wir wählten beide die Joghurtsuppe von der Monatskarte, als Hauptgericht wählte meine Frau Lammfilet mit gebratenen Pfifferlingen, mediterranen Gemüsen und Kartoffel-Karotten-Stampf von der Monatskarte; ich den Ibericorücken mit Pfifferlingen mediterranen Gemüsen und Rosmarinkartoffeln vom Tagesangebot.Als Wein bestellten wir einen 2013 Amethystos.Die Joghurtsuppe mit kleinen Gurkenstückchen, gehackten Walnüssen und Minzblättchen war genau richtig temperiert - angenehm kühl, nicht zu kalt - genau das Richtige für das warme Wetter.Das Lammfilet war zartrosa gebraten, das Gemüse auf den Punkt gegart und der Kartoffelstampf zerging auf der Zunge, trotzdem waren die kleinen Karotten- und Kartoffelstückchen unterscheidbar.Der Ibericorücken war saftig, äußerst aromatisch und auch auf den Punkt mit einer ganz dünnen Kruste gegart - einfach nur gut.Den Amethystos hatten wir uns schon vor der Vorspeise dekantieren lassen, damit er atmen und sein Bukett entfalten konnte. Deshalb entwickelte er schon beim Probieren ein Bukett, in dem man versinken könnte. Dazu noch die die tiefdunkelrote Farbe und die sich im Mund und Gaumen entwickelnden Aromen - ein Fest für die Sinne.Als Dessert nahmen wir Vanillesoufflee mit weißer Schokolade und das in Fadennudeln eingehüllte Vanilleeis.Eigentlich überfüssig zu erwähnen, dass alle Speisen warm und liebevoll dekoriert aufgetragen wurden.Wir werden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!Wir empfehlen das Restaurant für romantische Abende zu zweit - das Personal ist zwar sehr aufmerksam, aber auch diskret und zurückhaltend. ;)(P.S. Was mich wundert, sind die vereinzelten, sehr schlechten Beurteilungen, die ich nach all meinen Erfahrungen in diesem Lokal nicht nachzuvollziehen vermag)"

"Located just behind the Westin Grand near the Ziel shopping street. The portions are large. The prices are extremely reasonable and the food is tasty and wholesome. Like a home cooked meal. Service is quick but on a partly self serve basis. Decor is bare...and functional. Hence the 4th rather than the 5th stars. Bottom line. If you're hungry and in a hurry, then eat in."

"Wir waren zu viert im Kritamo und haben uns gleich sehr willkommen gefühlt.Gleich nach dem wir uns gesetzt hatten kam auch schon ein leckerer Gruß aus der Küche, der sich auf den Namen des Restaurants bezieht (einfach die Karte lesen ;-))Da wir (für unsere Verhältnisse) wenig Hunger hatten,haben wir uns nur durch die Vorspeisen geschlemmt. Diese (diverse Dipps, Sardellen, Zucchini-Puffer, Auberginenröllchen, gemischte Vorspeisen, Feta im Filoteig) waren allesamt sehr lecker.Service sehr freundlich und schnell.Für Vegetarier wird es allerdings (abgesehen von den Vorspeisen) eng. Die restliche Karte enthält nur Gerichte mit Fleisch (überwiegend Lamm, aber auch Schwein) bzw. Fisch. Moussaka gibt's natürlich auch.Wir kommen wieder :-)"

"Das Nudel Ding im Westend von Frankfurt ist eine tolle Alternative zu den Restaurants in der Umgebung. Gelegentlich führt mich der Hunger in der Mittagspause dort hin. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, die Räumlichkeiten etwas beengt – damit auch möglichst viele Interessenten einen Platz finden. Für den Aufenthalt während der Mittagspause ist das absolut genehm. Die Speisenbewertung bezieht sich auf die gefüllten Maultaschen (Schweinefleisch). Diese sind sehr lecker und werden mit einem kleinen Dip geliefert (Sojasauce?). Ich persönlich nehme immer gerne noch etwas von dem auf den Tisch stehenden Chili-Öl dazu. Der Gesamteindruck der Speise wird durch den Plastikteller leider sehr betrübt. Hier ist definitiv Verbesserungspotenzial vorhanden!Es gibt auch hausgemachte Getränke. Hier habe ich bisher den Eistee und die Limonade probiert. Der Eistee ist ganz klar mein Favorit – die Limonade war geschmacklich nichts für mich.Alles in allem ein Rundes Erlebnis mit Verbesserungsmöglichkeiten. Freue mich auf meinen nächsten Besuch."

"After checking tripadv we made our way and found the restaurant down a side street, from a distance we saw customers making their way to the entrance , I only hoped the place wasn't already full by the time we got there....We hadn't of course booked in advance but it wasn't a problem getting a table for two. The two ladies i think one was the owner managed the dinning room in a charming manner. We started off with a couple of wheat beers, we shared a spaghettini with cherry tomatoes and parmesan for starters. My son had the pizza Caprese with extra garlic , I had the lasagna. All three dishes were deliziosa the service very efficiente! Their website is only in German Italian not in English sorry to say. We had a problem trying to find a parking space in the local vicinity so we ended up going to the car park two streets away. Fine dinning with normal prices"

"It’s been a long time since I was last in Frankfurt but I had fond memories of evenings in Atschel drinking Apfelwein and enjoying local specialities. My return did not disappoint. It is unusual times with Covid restrictions in place. You have to show proof...of vaccination, recovery or a negative test under national regulations. As a UK national I carry a printout of my NHS Covid pass so much easier than fiddling with my phone. This was absolutely fine. The staff were very friendly, especially with my german. It wasn’t necessary as they spoke excellent english, but I persisted! Frankfurter schnitzel with fried potatoes and local grüne Soße was excellent. A thoroughly enjoyable experience."

"Heute war ich zum Meeting in Frankfurt am Main und hatte spontan große Lust auf Sashimi und Sushi. Von meine japanische Freunde aus Düsseldorf wurde mir den Sushi "Matsuri" empfohlen, weil es sehr authentischen Speisen anbietet. Mit so großer meine Freude bin ich mit meine Freundin in den Laden hineingegangen, mit um so großer Enttäuschung waren wir wieder draußen. Ich fragte und bat höflich um einen Tisch für zwei Personen, aber als Antwort wurden wir von dem Chef an der Bar mit für Japaner sehr untypischen und sehr unhöflichen Art und Weise abgewiesen, ohne dass uns nur mit etwas gastronomischen Norm in Empfang nimmt. Und das nur, weil ich in dem Moment einen Starbuck-Pappbecher in der Hand halte. Enttäuscht, aber mit Ruhe sind wir von dem Sushi-Bar gegangen. Ich habe mal neulich in Japan bereist, wohne seit vielen Jahren in Düsseldorf, in der eine große japanischen Gemeinde leben und deswegen weiß ich, dass der Chef der "Matsuri-Sushi-Bar" mit diesen abwertenden Verhalten bestimmt nicht seiner eigene Kultur repräsentieren wollen. Mag sein, dass die Speisen, die er in seinem Restaurant anbietet, "top" sind. Aber ob man einen unangebrachten Service ertragen muss, um nur eine ausgezeichneten Sushi-Abend genießen zu können, muss jeder für sich entscheiden."

"What a delightful experience! I was a little surprised when we got here to find out that we wouldn't be dining inside the tower, which was what I had previously expected, but we had a great time nonetheless! You can make a reservation ahead of time online, but we found it didn't do anything special for us as we were told to just pick anywhere to sit and eat as it wasn't very crowded when we arrived. There is SOME indoor dining, but sitting outside is much more pleasant, especially in the summer. They have VEGAN SCHNITZEL on the menu, which was very exciting for me as I am of German heritage but am now vegetarian, so I haven't eaten schnitzel since I stopped eating meat. It was delicious and very satisfying! Also, you CAN go up in the tower. The restrooms are actually up at the top of the tower, which I found very interesting as I wouldn't think it would be ideal to install plumbing at the top of a 15th castle tower. Be sure to go check it out, even if you don't have to pee! Tip: if you order extra sauce, they will charge you for it. We were unaware of this as extra sauce is usually at no charge where we're from (the U.S. , so this is a warning to any Americans who plan to come here."

"I new it is going to be good from the moment I entered. Half the diners were Japanese, as are also all the sushi chefs and waitresses. Who ever complains here about the décor doesn't know that this is really what Sushi places look like in Japan (I have been there). Enjoy the unique opportunity to taste the variety of non-sushi real Japanese starter dishes. I took shredded radish sprinkled with shredded sardines and excellent steamed spinach. They don't speak much English, so I went the simple way. To start I asked for 5 different sushis to be selected by the chef - with my only restriction being of no salmon and no shrimp (just my preference). The outcome was great - particularly the fatty tuna. So I asked for a selection of 5 more, but different. Now I could see the chef was starting to think and improvise. The outcome was remarkable. Each sushi had its own added flavoring, some salty some lemony. So I was not supposed to dip it in the regular soy sauce. The aesthetic presentation was nice too (see picture). Definitely a fun dinning experience."

"Could not have asked for better. This is a highly recommended little place. I phoned to make bookings at a few TripAdvisor recommended spots for Frankfurt and as it was very busy at this time, reservations were scarce and phone calls were brusquely answered/declined at...some of the so-called top then establishments. I Edelweiss phoned on a Tuesday asking for a booking for either than night or the following. In perfect English, to my relief, after much consultation they said they could not take us the next day, but had a gap that night, but only at their upstairs seating around bar-height tables. Needless to say I grabbed this and intended to march our merry crew into Sahenhausen that night. We were delayed by late business appointments and fearing the loss of our table we phoned to inform them that we'd be a little late. This was no problem and on arrival we were delighted to see they'd made a special effort to seat us downstairs in the heart of their charming little pub/restaurant and were very chilled about our late arrival. Being more than peckish we piled into their wonderfully appetising menu; selections being the Schnitzel (naturally) the veal, the wild boar goulash stew, Austrain version of chicken? Sausages and one or two others. We had eight clean plates and many thumbs up's on a superb delivery of nicely assisted choices. With full bellies no one was slightly interested in desert. However on listening to the description we reluctantly decided to share a few plates of their famous pancake/cherry desert. Believe me the reluctance to have a desert vanished at the first shared spoonful. This is indeed a house specialty as we've never had anything close anywhere else in our two weeks in Frankfurt. Our server was such a pleasant young man. On serving us in the beginning he looked as surprisied we were when we could not understand a word of German. Ja, Englisch he asked and from then on conversed in the most excellent English with superb recommendations for which we were most grateful. Do visit here. Its easy from the Frankfurt South S Bahn station. Simply go up the road, turn right and walk a few paces til you reach edelweiss. Oh, and importantly for business travelers, they accept most credit cards."

"Das hätte ich in Dietzenbach nicht vermutet. Mitte im historischen Kern - wusste gar nicht das es so was gibt - ist in einem schönen Fachwerkhaus der Korkenzieher. Bei Speisekarte dort ist klein aber genial. Bei unseren Besuch gab es neben dem Hausgericht Flammkuchen auch in paar Tapas. Wir hatten dort Kürbissuppen, Garnelen Tapas und Flammkuchen mit Wildsalami genossen - dazu ein Glas guten Weins und toller Service. Was will man mehr? Vielen Dank an das Korkerzieher-Team"

"Leider war der Besuch in diesem Japanischem restaurant ein Reinfall.Ich war alleine da. Das Ambiente sehr nüchtern und schon fast traurig. Sieht aus wie eine alte Trinkhalle aus den 70er. Habe Sushi bestellt. Der war nicht gut. Rieseiger Klotz Thunfisch, kein wasabi. Fast schon Ekelerregend.Als Hauptspeise habe ich Chicken teriaki bestellt. Der hat geschmeckt als hätte ich es selber gekocht, zu Hause. Und ich kann überhaupt nicht kochen.Nur die Miso Suppe war ok.Und nach ca 1 Stunde zu Hause hat der Darm rebelliert....also...frisch war es alles nicht.Wie schade....den Punkt gebe es für die freundliche Dame an der Theke.Ansonsten empfehle ich dieses Restaurant nicht. Und der Spass hat 30 Euro gekostet...(4 Stuck Nigiri, chicken Teriaki und eine Flasche Bier 33)"

"I found "The Lion" through the journal "Frankfurt geht aus" the (annual) local print special with restaurant rankings.I have just been there the second time and the experience is the same.The restaurant is not too big at the first glance but has an additional room upstairs and is at weekends often booked. In these cases it takes long until you get your food. It is visible that the Lion was a german village restaurant years ago but the furniture is modern to mediterrenean which is a great mix.The menue is - for my taste - not that interesting but they have a changing additional menue with seasonal and/or special meals which are very recommendable.The first time we were there I had goat variations and my wife a marinated pork (style sour marinated beef) which was excellent.This time I had an "Osso Bucco", slices from the leg (veal), with noodles and veggies at 18,50 which was very good and my wife went for the asparagus menue at 32,50 starting with a coctail of the day (prosecco with self made strawberry sorbet) followed by a mousse of green and white asparagus with smoked salmon which was nice but nothing super special. The main was a chop of duroc porc (very good) and the best asparagus I had so far this year. The dessert was a cream with fresh strawberrys, nice as well.The beer is a good brand and the selection of wines is good as well.It is not the cheapest place to go but what you get for your money is good."

"Some colleagues and I recently went here for the first time and after seeing the prices and having been made aware of the portion size, we thought about just ordering one dish per person out of courtesy and then head out for pizza instead. Well, it didn't come to that because as soon as we've tried the first dishes, we couldn't stop ordering more! In the end each of us had a personal favorite and I personally didn't like every single dish, but we could easily agree on a second serving of the blinis with mashed butternut and belluga lentils. As the menu changes regularly and probably seasonally, it might not be on the menu when you are there, but I'm sure you'll find your own highlights. And as another reviewer has pointed out, there's free schnapps on the tables. To be exact, it was vodka and probably the smoothest vodka I've ever tasted, so one could easily drink it neat; but that means missing out on some great wines. So the food was great, the drinks were great and the interior design and the music made for a special atmosphere, plus the staff is friendly and far from snobbish. All in all we've had a perfect evening. And the next time we're at a pizza joint we might as well just order something out of courtesy and head back to Leuchtendroter again."
