"We visited here the day before and booked a table for the following evening as it’s a small venue. We had to come in quite late because it’s small, busy and gets booked up. We understand all of these things, but on the night in question we were greeted by more than one individual who seemed very stressed and spoke to us initially as if we didn’t have a table booked and couldn’t help us. This wasn’t a great first impression. Eventually we were seated at a table and given menus. We knew what we wanted to order quickly, but had to wait quite a while before anyone came over to take a drinks order. So when they did we ordered food at the same time. We waited quite some time for drinks and even longer for food. Although tables were finishing off there seemed to be a lot of tables still waiting for food. It felt a bit frantic and as if the kitchen was struggling to cope. When we received our mains they were nicely presented. The main issue was that one of the portions of chips was cold and the other was only lukewarm. The fish was okay in terms of temperature and was as expected in terms of flavour, apart from the lobster which was impossible to crack through using the basic tools provided, so it had to be returned to the kitchen for assistance which meant other food was cooling. It was a chilly evening, but the doors were open and the food cooled quicker still. The wine selection was good and the wine selected went well with the food. The desserts on offer looked amazing and we sampled them and can confirm that they were very good. The disappointment here comes from being provided with cold sides, inadequate equipment to get in to the lobster, chewy lobster meat and other fish cooling rapidly because the ambient temperature was falling rapidly and windows/doors remained open."

"For the record, I am not someone who typically complains online or expects a discount. Most of my feedback on the poor quality of the meal was directed to the manager when I paid, and I didn’t ask for any discount; I settled the bill in full without hesitation. Honestly, there was nothing enjoyable about the meal. The children's squid starter was mediocre at best, and it was the only highlight among the five dishes we ordered. I could detail all the disappointing aspects, but I will focus on my own experience instead. I ordered the mussels in white wine and cream as a starter, priced at £15.95. I expected something special given the price, but what I received was around 12-15 mussels with hardly any of the usual creamy cooking liquor at the bottom of the bowl, and there was no bread included; that cost extra. For nearly 16 quid, I was very unimpressed, especially since I often order mussels online from Scotland for £3.50 per kilogram. I doubt I even had half a kilogram of mussels on my plate. That’s quite a markup! The biggest disappointment was the prawns in curry, which sounded delicious and were priced at £19.95. What arrived looked like a dish made in a high school home economics class, containing about seven prawns, two florets of cauliflower, and what seemed like a packet of Blue Dragon sauce. I must say the rice was good, but my kids can make rice just as well. I expressed my disappointment with the entire meal when I was paying, and I was just glad to leave. I’m really disheartened to see how significantly this once four-star restaurant has declined. After returning to our holiday cottage, I came across all the shocking reviews of the Lobster Pot, with not a single response from the owners. This tells me they aren't too concerned about customer feedback. My wife and I had a reservation for a special dinner this Friday night, but you won’t be surprised to hear that I would like to cancel it. I will call to confirm the cancellation, as it’s clear you don’t pay attention to the reviews for your business. Please, for your own sake, sort things out."
