"Situated conveniently between the Auction House, Opera House and station, on a quiet side street. The front of the restaurant opens out completely so on a warn day ask for a table near to the front of the restaurant or seek the shade further inside. The menu midi at 13 EU including wine or coffee (!) is about the market price for local customers wanting a working lunch and the quality is outstanding. The front of house staff are not only welcoming they are positively charming, attentive and efficient. The bar has a 50's retro style, very well executed. Its been full every time I have eaten there and there is a happy customer buzz. The customer base is mainly local working people, but also ladies who lunch and families too - some with small babies in prams which are happily accommodated. Because its off the beaten track the casual traveller is unlikely to stumble across it but its worth seeking out. The food is typically French bistro. Well cooked and presented. The entrees of salad de gesiers is one of the best I have ordered, and the cucumber salad with blue cheese and nuts is addictive. There are a good choice of main courses even at lunchtime. Try the tete de veau in a light sauce - its a regional speciality - its delicious or ail de rai (skate) with capers in black butter sauce. If you are very hungry order the whole camembert which comes with a healthy portion of locally cured ham and chips !!! Or order one to share with a carafe of cold rose wine. If you still have room for pudding, try the verrine au citron, (home-made lemon meringue pie in a glass) but in truth all of the puds are mouth watering. When we cant choose we often order two and share half and half !."

"Booked for an old boy birthday lunch. Positioned right in the town centre, my review is based primarily on the food. The quality of the product served like the Turbot was nothing less than superb. Starting with a very decent amuse bouche, packed with flavour with clever use of micro herbs. The entree of foie gras de canard was home made and again subtle use of spices only added to its flavour. The bread (local) was a flavourful sourdough bun. The carrot gel was perhaps a little underwhelming. The turbot, is a very expensive option, but was cooked to perfection. Translucent and great flavour. What is not to like? The simple vegetable accompaniment of carrots and little else was all that was necessary. The light Pinot Charentes sauce was perfect. Desserts were a joy too. The pastry of my tartelette was exactly crisp and light. My wife 's dome citron was equally tasty. A great meal with serious ability in evidence in the kitchen. By the way, do not ignore the the 3 glass wine flight which offers great choice and value. There is always a negative though. With the exception of the Maitre d ', the staff were rather amateur. AND, I believe that the current chefs only bought this pace in 2019 and have undoubtedly suffered during the pandemic so the decor is best described as a little tired. The balance is strongly in favour of the food. I recommend that you try the lunch surprise menu at less than 30 euros to start! Local products very well handled."

"I've spent several times in front of this little restaurant. In fact, I sat in front of myself several times by drinking coffee in restaurants across the street. from the outside, it looks like a clean and well-rowed quick functional restoration operation. Like me, you can easily get through it. It's all these things and more. the restaurant is arranged in a canteen style but the food is quite different. our waitress was friendly and helpful to take our order. The kitchen is well visible and is well organized and impeccable. I expected (hopefully) to a suitable pizza. My friend was hungry so I ordered the chef's burger who looked amazing. what happened was far from being standard it was superb and usefully the two plates arrived together (not always the case in france !). My pizza (the size of 26 cm) was creamy. the flavors were subtle, the base and the crunchy edge and the homemade piquant oil was hot and spicy. the hamburger was also well presented in a grilled bread with grain filled with fillings and recalling the peaty tower. the beef was absolutely succulent and dressed with homemade tomato relics with a crunchy green salad. . a good touch was the small glass of ice cream with mustard with grains. . delicious. We were too full to order a dessert. I paid double the price in other restaurants for a food of this quality. It's a sophisticated dining room at a reasonable price. My pizza for example was 7 euros and in the adjacent restaurants, it would have been 12 to 14 euros without a doubt. It was not as busy as he should have been on Saturday night, but it is a new operation well located near the cathedral, so as the notes on trip adviser will increase, it will quickly climb into the rankings. Go ahead, don't forget to evaluate this little jewel and reward the staff by remembering to give a good review of the passion they bring to cook good fresh food for you."
