"We spent two great evenings in this place. There is a huge selection of beer and whiskey. The host advises here with competence. The food is very tasty and is made by the host with heart blood. The innkeepers have a great humour and lead their place with passion. We felt comfortable here right away. If we are back in Monschau for the next time, we will definitely return to VAT 60."

"Man beachte uns nach Minuten die Karte und putzte dann seelenruhig Gläser...für gefühlte ewigkeiten.Beim bestellen musste er widerwillig seine Aufnahme Routine ändern weil wir dich tatsächlich h auch Getränke bestellen wollten.auf die Frage nach detaillierteren Beschreibung eines tagesgerichtes bekamen wir einen an herablassend grenzenden Verweis auf das Geheimrezept das er uns jetzt"mit Sicherheit nicht sagen"würde.Das Essen war sehr gut.keine Frage!Mich nervte das im gastraum zubereitete Dessert.sie wurde minutenlang mit dem Schneebesen in einer metallschüssel aufgeschlagen was dementsprechend laut war.wenn ich eine Show Küche möchte gehe ich in entsprechende Ketten anstatt sie hier von der Kellnerin zubereitet zu bekommen..."

"Übersichtliche Karte (spricht aber meist - und so auch hier - für gute Qualität). Das Essen war wirklich sehr schmackhaft und der Service auch super nett. Unbedingt die Senfsauce probieren!! Preise schon etwas höher aber grundsätzlich gerechtfertigt. Allerdings hat die Änderung der Beilage von Pommes auf Spätzle oder Bratkartoffeln mit 3€ zu bepreisen schon einen bitteren Beigeschmack - vielleicht gibt es da mal eine bessere Lösung?Auch das Ambiente dürfte für mein Empfinden mal etwas moderner werden. Fühlte mich ein bisschen wie bei Oma in der Stube früher. Bei den Toiletten wurde bereits super renoviert!"

"After 2 weeks motorbiking around Germany, we'd had some great food. The only meal we were truly disappointed With was here. I simply can not believe it's rated no.1. Seriously fellow travellers, this is not a good representation of German food.The soup. I'm pretty sure was tinned. And the Schnitzel was terrible. I had gypsy sauce, which tasted like a jar of "chicken tonight" sauce.The wine was warm... and the bread was slightly stale white sliced stuff that looked like an economy loaf.Avoid this place."

"We were there for dinner with 4 people and were not disappointed! A menu that offers something for everyone and a very nice and attentive service! The food was very good and inexpensive absolutely within the framework. The ambience has come rustic and something in the years, but still maintained and suitable. "Wij eten regelmatig in Haus Flora op doorreis naar de Belgische Eifel. De ontvangst is altijd vriendelijk, het restaurant brandschoon en alle gerechten van constante kwaliteit. De kaart kent geen verrassingen, wel aparte menu's in de aspergetijd en het wildseizoen. Er komen veel vaste gasten, wat veel zegt over de waardering voor de kok en de gastheer. En dat met zoveel concurrentie in de buurt (Monschau!). Aanrader voor de visliefhebber: forel met amandelen. Duurt even, maar dan krijg je echt een mooie vis op het bord! De eigenaar heeft Kroatische roots; dat is te merken aan de kaart: Balkan."

"Das Essen war lecker, die Bedienung schnell und freundlich, es war sauber und das Preis- Leistungsverhältnis stimmte. Grad im Urlaub angekommen und sehr hungrig, bekamen wir was das Herz begehrte. Die Speisekarte war vielfältig aber nicht zu voll, die Speisen frisch und für jeden Geschmack war was dabei. Es gibt nur zwei kleine Anmerkungen. Das Wetter im September war ja super, aber genau deshalb würden ein paar Kissen und vieleicht sogar leichte Decken den Wohlfühlfaktor noch erhöhen. Und die Parkplätze sind leicht abschreckend, denn wir mussten erstmal einen finden. Und hungrig fährt man schnell weiter, was schade gewesen wäre. Es ist eine wirklich leckere Küche.Empfehlenswert."

"Man muss Glück haben wer vom Personal anwesend ist. Ob das Essen schmeckt ist Tages und Mitarbeiter abhängig. Mal sehr lecker, mal nicht so gut. Liefern lassen wir uns schon ewig nichts mehr, weil man wie jeder weiß für Extras draufzahlen muss und diese Angaben meistens einfach ignoriert werden. Das ist jedesmal so ärgerlich, weil es nunmal auch nicht Preis günstig ist und man dementsprechend gewisse Erwartungen hat."

"The interior is very cozy, but since we have 2 dogs we stayed outside despite the warning of the nice lady on the phone that it can be fresh. The waiter was super, friendly, funny, could come up with expert knowledge and interesting information. The food was very tasty, over portion sizes you can argue, I think I love a little less on the plate and then tend desserts than if only every 3rd makes his plate empty and everything is thrown. We like to come back! It's because of the waiter. Silesia"

"Anlässlich meines Geburtstages habe ich für 10 Personen Essen bestellt. Wir wurden gut und freundlich beraten. "De reden dat we ervoor kozen om bij Horchem te gaan zitten is dat we graag zo lang mogelijk in de avondzon én naast het smalle rivierstroompje wilde dineren. Dit is uiteindelijk gelukt. Als het lukt heb je echt een fantastisch leuk plekje. Horchem ademt klasse / stijl uit. Ze zijn het ook ,maar op eten en op bediening blijft het achter. In Duitsland verwacht je goed gevulde borden ( goede hoeveelheid vlees voor een mooi prijsje). Ik had asperges besteld en daarbij zalm. De asperges waren goed gekookt ( geen stok) en goed op smaak. De hoeveelheid asperges was net goed, misschien wat te weinig . De zalm die op mijn bord lag, was niet een op de huid gebakken zalmmoot maar “toastjeszalm”. (Een zalmmoot was meer gepast.) Dit viel tegen. De sekt was goed. Bij sekt hoort het glas voor 4/5e vol geschonken te worden. Bij Horchem krijgt het glas half vol. De ene helft van de bediening is goed . De ander is slecht. En dat geval wordt je bestelling vergeten. Wanneer je subtiel en daarna wat nadrukkelijk naar de ober wenkt, wordt je niet gezien. Of je krijgt niet wat je besteld had: Sprite? In plaats van Spa Rood? Advies aan Horchem: Of de prijzen aanpassen of guller zijn met eten én drinken."

"In bin noch nie in meinem Leben als Gast in einem Bistro so schlecht behandelt worden. Es war grausam. So Sätze wie "mit Ihnen spreche ich doch gar nicht" oder "so Gäste wie Sie brauchen wir nicht" wurden uns an den Kopf geknallt, nur weil wir uns nicht so sinnlos betranken wie die anderen anwesenden Personen in dem Bistro. Die Wirtin knallte uns die Gläser auf den Tisch und beschimpfte nicht nur uns sondern auch andere Gäste der Kneipe, die sich nicht sinnlos besoffen haben. Und ich denke mit 4 Bier und zwei Wasser kann man nicht behaupten, dass wir gar nichts getrunken haben. Als wir gingen wurde mein Mann noch fast verprügelt, weil wir uns natürlich gegen dieses aggressive Verhalten der Wirtin gewehrt haben und ich von aussen ein Bild von dem Bistro gemacht habe. Und wir wurden aufs Übelste beschimpft weil wir "nur" einen Deckel von 19 Euro verzehrt hatten. Gibt es Vorgaben wieviel man verzehren muss wenn man irgendwo einkehrt? Solch eine unfreundliche Wirtin ... dieses Bistro gehört geschlossen für seine Unfreundlichkeit und sein assoziales Verhalten. Dieses Bistro muss gemieden warden damit die Inhaber mal merken, wie wichtig Kundenfreundlichkeit ist. Einfach Pfui."

"Vandaag dit restaurant bezocht. Alles voortreffelijk bediening was snel en goed,weliswaar omdat het waarschijnlijk niet druk was maar het was prima.Forel was perfect gaar ,en de snitzel was ook in orde.Ook de bijhorende slaatjes waren perfect gedresseerd.Prijzen zijn ook goedkoop.Een minpuntje maar dit heeft niets met het eten te maken,als ik van de gastvrouw en de kok was zou ik mij toch niet teveel tussen de gasten mengen,dit geeft geen goede indruk.Zeker voor de kok,die hoort in de keuken thuis."

"Wij waren op de terug weg van Monschau naar Roetgen,en kwamen hier terecht.Er was nog plaats genoeg voor een tafeltje aan het raam.Leuk ingericht en de bediening was uiters vriendelijk.De kaart is gevuld met tapas en drankjes,het is tenslotte ook een cocktailbar.Maar je kunt hier ook een echte biefburger krijgen.Onze tapasschotel voor 2 personen zag er uit om op te eten....Binnen een half uur kwamen er genoeg lokale mensen hier eten,en dat wil wel wat zeggen.De auto kun je makkelijk parkeren bij het winkelcentrum erlangs.Wij waren hier op een donderdag avond.Ook de koffie was te drinken......Prijs/kwaliteit zit het hier wel snor."

"The restaurant has a nice outdoor seating area at the back side, overlooking the tiver Rur and part of the old town. In fact, this was the main reason why we wanted to try this place for a late lunch/early dinner. But the rest was a bit disappointing. Food was in one word 'moderate ', even poor if I compare it to other restaurants. Prices are slightly highter than average. The terrace at the back side is nice for a drink. But If you are looking for a place to eat, there are lots of better options in Monschau,"

"Booked a table here on the strength of its TripAdvisor ratings. You definitely need to book, it's very busy most evenings.The salad bar was ok, but not as good as some side salads we've had elsewhere. We both ordered the pork steak with onions and bratkartoffeln. The pork was a bit pink for our liking, although it did taste good. The onion sauce was very salty though, and the bratkartoffeln were swimming in oil.The service was quick, which was good, but the place seemed somewhat lacking in atmosphere, despite being full.All in all a bit of a disappointment, and I can't see what the great TripAdvisor recommendations come from."

"I have been to this restaurant twice now on visits to Monschau and both times were perfect. Coming from Chicago, a great restaurant city, I have been to a wide range of places and enjoyed my experience here so much that I was excited to return. The menu is just the right size with items for all tastes but not overwhlmingly large. On this visit I started with cheese rolled in proscuitto with salad and it was just beautiful. The presentation was as good as the taste. The portion was generous and the dressing on the salad was in perfect balance with the richness of the cheese and meat.Next came the duck with red cabbage and dumpling. The meat was tender and flavorful and it had a beautiful crispy skin. The cabbage was a great accompaniment offering a little sweet and sour edge to the rich duck and the dumpling was light and creamy.For dessert they offered a variety plate that had a molten lava cake that was perfection. It oozed just as it was meant to, had a deep chocolate flavor, and was the perfect portion. The staff is so welcoming and friendly and the environment is beautiful. It is a very traditional style but appears to have been renovated with beautiful finishes and all the comforts of a more modern place. I highly recommend this restaurant!"

"On arrival, Stadtkrone was full. The owner arranged some house guest to change to another table and we (5 pax) could sit quit cosy in a corner.After reading reviews we were a bit afraid of the things to come……The five of us went for the menu, 3 course and 12,90 euro.Fresh, well filled vegatable soup was served and tasted quit well. Second was the wiener schnitzel with french fries and some (fresh again) salad.For desert the Spanish owner served special cake with some bavarois and whipped cream. The menu satified us, without being very special or wondering about the big schnitzel.But, if you notice the price, the food and service was good! Last but not least: take a look in the bathrooms: very clean, super modern, TOP!"
