"Had bought a Groupon deal for Sunday lunch here last year on the recommendation of a friend, and went today, but unfortunately didn 't live anywhere up to our expectations. Venue from outside is really unattractive, however inside, very lovely. We were seated at a booth and having had our young daughter with us, we asked for a children 's menu and we were told they didn 't have one and all they had was the bar menu. When it arrived there was only adult meals on there, so I had to call waitress back to double check if we could have a children 's portion of any of them as she didn 't even think to tell us this when we asked for menu my 3 year old daughter isn 't going to eat a full steak of adult burger and chips and I 'm certainly not paying the full adult price. Waitress didn 't even know and had to go ask. What restaurant doesn 't have a kid 's menu especially for Sunday lunch which generally is family based? Thankfully it was fine and she had a half size of fish and chips. My husband and I had chicken liver parfait to start which was tasty, mains were roast beef and roast pork which was burnt the whole way around and inedible crackling as tough as old boots. Kale and carrots were served on the side chef must have accidentally dropped a whole pot of salt over kale it was ridiculously salty and this is from someone who likes plenty of seasoning. Yorkshire puds were enormous and I think were supposed to be the talking point of the meal, but basically the plate was taken over by an air filled lump of batter. I literally had to hunt a waitress down to get a wine menu and then had to chase further for them to come back and take order. These didn 't seem to be a lot of common sense running around the place. The waitresses were very sweet when you eventually got talking to them but totally untrained, very young and lacked confidence and it seemed like they had been told not to look any customer in the eye. They didn 't seem to be looking around to see if anyone needed their attention. Might I add that the restaurant was no where near busy either so this could have easily have happened. Lack of customers should have been a giveaway from the beginning. My husband left the majority of his food and when plates were cleared, all we got was, finished? Not even a full sentence and not even an acknowledgment the food had hardly been touched. Petit fours followed, which were ok. My husband compared it to a Brewers Fayre and said it was like where you go to eat your last meal before you die given the absolute lack of atmosphere from no customers, mute waitresses and what sounded like a radio on the lowest volume in the kitchen. Visit was topped off by my husband reversing out of our parking space and hitting a number of wooden panels on the ground from building works they were low enough for car sensors not to pick up, and were in a really inconvenient place with no cones or appropriate signing to beware of them. Safe to say we 've given it a go, but will definitely not be going again."
